I actually logged in for the first time in forever to comment on this thread…I am SO excited for this! It's coming out on my bday and I couldn't ask for a better present! Thanks for all the video clips and pics posted here - can't wait to watch this!

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Thank you everyone! A few quick shots from the weekend that my friend took:
…don't ask XD
Us at dinner in the Ramen Shop. More pics to come soon.I just had to give Monty a major thumbs up…he made that Kenpachi costume for our friend Steve. It came out well, I need to get better shots of it. Also kudos to Steve for doing the hair and sword.

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Hey guys, thank you kindly. You all rock and made my day.
I just worked 11 hours and 10 minutes, excuse me while I collapse.

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Just wanted to let everyone know, next Sunday, June 3rd, a group of my friends and I are going into NYC's Central Park for a Bleach photoshoot. There's a "Japan Day" event going on that day, with food, games, and a costume contest! So please feel free to stop over and say hello! Monty and I will be Ichigo and Rukia.

RE: Crazy Fin's Amazing Emporium of Total Cosplay Madness
You know I heart your Nuriko to death! I can't wait to cosplay FY with you!!! Doing Miaka is going to be strange considering I've kind of out grown the character, but seriously, your Nuriko inspired me <3!
And I think that wig came out awesome! However, I've been meaning to mention to you that if you're having issues with it, or really want another one, let me know. There is this little hole in the wall wig store in NYC, and I think I saw a long purple wig that was a light purple. But in all honesty if that one holds up, stay with it! It looks so neat, and you put so much work into it! Definitely came out well.
-
RE: Bushido's Cosplay Corner
mr bushido - You make a nice Zoro!!! ^___^
I agree on the head wrap. When Monty did Alabasta Zoro, all he did was make an orange scarf. With out it, it would have looked like something was missing. But yeah, he didn't bother having it as a head wrap, and at one point when we couldn't find it, we just bought orange fabric, folded it, and it looked just fine XD!
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
And the last two that wouldn't fit in the other post…
And I just added an "Image Heavy" warning to the beginning of the thread. Particularly with that last post o.o!

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Thank you mr bushido, captain usopp, buuhan, and Ms Cricket! It's very much appreciated, I'm so glad you like! I'm actually wearing purple contacts! My real eyes are a weird hazel that change color, but they never quite look purple XD!
Here's the rest of that photo batch. One thing I will say is we need a steamer like whoa. We spent an hour ironing and we still missed spots! GRRR. Overall, I am really happy with these shots though.
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Thank you captain usopp! Yeah those fangirls are loud XD!
Man…so I've been really busy and haven't been able to post here much, but yeah. Monty finished Bankai Ichigo and I tweaked Rukia a bit...mainly, got contacts. Here are a few pics:
I have more, if you watch my LJ you've probably seen em, but yeah, I'll post later. -
RE: Untitled
Ah, a triangle! Is that a first for this thread?
Are you familiar with the doujinshi circle called Zipangu?
Mostly ZoroSan, but earlier on, Zipangu made occasional diversions into SanNaZo … oh, no wait, now that I think about it, it's more like ZoSanNa (Zoro being the most dominant of the three) -- Is that close enough?
If it is, I can provide you with a webpage link for Zipangu's site -- just PM me.
Wow, you know, I'm not so sure I know that circle! There is one called Damedashida that I ADORE, their art reflects Oda's style. They lean more towards the Zoro/Nami side, but I have seen some stuff that includes Sanji in the mix as well.
I really love any combo of those 3. They are definitely my OT3 of choice XD I will drop you a PM later today, I'd love to see that site.

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
PtR, thank you! As for YavsGrim, Grimmy would just be like ARGGHH You're damn annoying, get outta my hair! and leave her the winner!
And now….it's cosplay skit time! You guys probably saw this one already but I had to post it here too. This is our skit from last Anime USA that parodies a song from the Producers. It won Best Presentation at the Craftsman level. It has characters from One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto...and a very special appearance by Heman that will make more sense if you
Working on getting a better copy vid of this online, but until then…
-
RE: Untitled
Holy crap there are other people here who ship Zo-Na? Years ago I think I was the only one (or one of maybe 3)
I love the pairing as those of you who have been here awhile know. Love-hate relationships are my favorite thing ever. I don't care if this pairing never goes canon or if I get wanked out for liking it. It just rocks. My boyfriend finished drawing this ZoNa pic he had started about 4 years ago just last night. I'll post it later.
SanjiNami, and SanNaZo…also love.

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
PtR- Thank you! I'm actually wearing Pajamas! Pirate PJs XD! I am not sure what avvy you mean, but I don't think I've ever made one with those before.
Here's a few Grimmjaw vs Yachiru pics we took on Easter. Monty wore a shirt because it was COLD. Swords aren't done yet, my wig is meh, and my vice captain armband is only coming today. but I think these shots look neat!

RE: The Future of One Piece anime…In America! FUNIMATION TAKES OVER!
I just wanted to express my extreme happiness that OP is in hands I personally trust. I think this will be a much more reasonable release.
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
mr bushido - Yep, that'd be wonderflex! It is really awesome stuff, definitely check it out for your Zoro swords!
Had a cosplay Easter egg hunt this weekend, it was mucho funness. My friend Mandy visited from MD, and we got a few Pirate PJ shots. Granted, we're both tired as hell here and they're not the best, but here's a few shots.

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
All right, here are some pictures of Grimjaw and Yachiru's swords, work in progress.
These still need the pommels added on the ends, and a bit of touching up here and there - they're close to done though! Yachiru's sword was actually our very first attempt at making a blade, but we abandoned it because it did not come out as well as we'd like. However, when I decided to do Yachiru, I figured it wouldn't hurt to use this one, since unlike Grimmy and Rukia, her blade has an actual sheath.
Also, we tried different painting techniques on the two. Unfortunately, I don't think the pics capture exactly how they look in person. Basically, I went with a solid silver. Monty used a solid silver and then a lighter silver on the tip to try to give the blade a "folded" look for those of you who know swords. He was trying to make the edge look more like the edge of the sword.
So far, we're both pretty undecided on which way looks more realistic. We may try to repaint the blades to make a smaller edge, or we make make Grimmy's solid, or we may do nothing. Still deciding!
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
mr bushido - Thank you muchly! And no, wonderflex is actually paintable right away - The one thing we did, though for the blade is coat it with geso, and then sand it down to make it smooth. It's not necessary if you don't mind the texture, but for the blade especially it was needed.
Ms Cricket - Thank you…and yeah it is a lot of fun XD! I ended up dragging a lot of my friends into it. You do make many new friends though by going to cons and cosplay events...It's how Monty and I originally met!
omnichild - Thank you for both comments! I think the sword adds a lot.
Joesephes - Thank you! XD!
Nothing new to post just yet. Monty and I are guests at Toracon, a tiny convention in upstate NY on April 28th. If anyone (by some miracle) is planning to go, please say hi!
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
PtR - We SHOULD be at Toracon, Anime Next, Otakon, and Anime USA. This is provided everything works out with our jobs.
-
RE: April Fool Aftermath
Oh, Griffin is real all right….
"All hail me."
"Since I can't actually type, I think I'll eat Ginny's laptop keys instead."Unfortunately because of my new job, I wasn't around as much for the planning. But I was laughing my ass off watching, I wish it had lasted longer (and had been better organized/timed. I do understand people's concerns and frustrations about it.) ocean, the funny thing is, if my bird could actually take over an internet forum, that is exactly how I think he would have done it.
Luckily for teh_intarwebz, he doesn't have opposable thumbs.

RE: Crazy Fin's Amazing Emporium of Total Cosplay Madness
I've seen a lot of these on your LJ, but I just wanted to say that you always look awesome. You're adorable!
I'm sorry I missed Katsu, I would have loved to have taken pics with you =(

RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
HEATXZ and fin - Thanks muchly! ^_^
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Her shikai definitely has the ribbon.
It's going to be a royal pain in the ass walking around cons, I'll tell you >.<Thank you muchly, Buu! As for Tashigi…no, haven't done her yet. I like her and there was a skit idea I had where I would have done her...but Nami is more my girl. She keeps me busy with her outfits.
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Ms Cricket - Thank you so much, I am glad you like them. And yep, the pink haired girl is Tonks!
Megakazul - We will be at Anime Next all right! The difference is this year instead of competing in the Masquerade, we're going to be doing the Halftime Show after it. The reason is I had an idea for an amazing Death Note skit, set to Queen's Boheimian Rhapsody, but it wouldn't fit into the time limits. So they're letting us do it for the HTS! I'm really hyped for it, please check it out!
Conekiller - Thank you so much! Yeah, Vic is actually an extremely cool and friendly guy. He is always around.
So Rukia is just about done! I finished her sword today, as well as the Shinigami robes. Still a few things to brush up, but this is basically it. The sword was my first Wonderflex project ever. I think it came out well considering, though it is definitely not perfect.
The sword itself. Made with wonderflex and a wood core, painted with acrylic. The wrapping is plain old ribbon, and the one white bead is sculpy.
The whole thing put together. Not the most flattering pictures, but you get the point.I'm fairly happy with it even if it isn't perfect. It's a lot of fun to play with! Now on to Yachiru's sword.
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
omnichild - Well, they're actually the exact same costume (one of the easy but boring things about Bleach) and they're actually both unfinished - Yachiru more so than Rukia, being that I don't have her Vice Captain arm band yet.
I do know what you mean though, I think part of the problem is Rukia's hair color blends in with the black of the kimono top. This makes it hard to see the style, which was actually the first wig I bought that had the exact odd ball style I needed without me having to do anything to it. Because the style is natural to the wig, it's not as drastic and might not let it show up as well in pictures. I'll have to keep an eye on how this turns out in other pictures.
Yachiru, on the other hand, was a wig I bought and chopped and styled. The color shows up very nicely against the black, and the style (though still not where I want it to be in the back) is pretty drastic, which I think makes it easier to recongnize who I am.
Having good wigs and weapons, like I said in another post, is really important in a good Bleach costume. My Rukia sword is almost finished, and Monty's Grimmjaw even more so. I'll be posting pics this weekend hopefully!
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
captain usopp - I don't know, I think the wig is pretty good for covering that eye, you can barely see it in those pics. Particularly compared to other wigs we've tried and experimented with. I think it's more the way he's angling is head in some of those shots, had we been paying attention, we probably would have had him move the bangs around a bit to fix that. We'll definitely try to do that in the future! These were pretty half assed pictures, my Yachiru is wearing a Harry Potter watch in the one shot. XD
As for wonderflex, we paid 27.50 for a large sheet of it. I'm not sure but I think cosworx is similar, and you can buy smaller pieces. It can heat up with a normal hair dryer, though I recommend using a heat gun. It makes it so much easier and less tedious. But yeah, you can make just about ANYTHING from this stuff. It's crazy, I love it!
So, back in January, I organized a Harry Potter photoshoot at a local castle. (Interesting place, built by a rich victorian guy.) I was Ginny Weasley, Monty was Draco Malfoy. These costumes were not meant to be completely movie canon, plus they were made in rush the week I started a new job. So nothing amazing here, but they were still fun to wear. Here's a few of the best shots:
If you're curious about the rest, the album is right here: http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w192/pottershoot/
Though there are a few I can't resist posting….
Dumbledore declares it time for ASS TO ASS.
Hagrid is actually our Kenpachi/Zoro/Armstrong (though he is standing on a bench here.) And Dumbledore is his awesome girlfriend who makes a killer Lust from FMA, as well as Winry and hopefully in the future, Matsumoto.
"FIFTY POINTS TO ME, BITCHES!" -
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
Buuhan - Ha yes, Monty's Grimmy is pretty rock. I think he's the first guy I've seen attempting the costume. And thank you! Though you have to admit Yachiru can be creepy too sometimes.
PtR- Aw, I'm really glad to hear that my cosplay has gotten you into it! It really is a fun and crazy hobby. As for groping…we'll see XD Basically, I didn't think I'd be able to see family on easter this year, so I invited a bunch of people over for a "Cosplay Easter Egg Hunt". Mandy is bringing Vivi, Ichimaru Gin from Bleach, and possibly Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Yes, this is extremely cracked out and silly. But we should get some amusing pictures. I particularly want a shot of Gin and Rukia skipping with an easter basket. It's just so wrong!
As for Steve being used to carrying me, he's done Zoro when Monty's not, and Armstrong. He's carried me around as both. One time it was so that I didn't die running across this busy intersection to get to food. (My Nami sandals KILL.) But a few times it's been for fun:
(Steve as armstrong, me as Ed, Monty as Roy, my buddy Dan as Hughes in the back. I don't know the Envy, but that random guy is Vic Mignonoa, Ed's english voice. And statue Al as himself. XD Uniforms were made by me, though this was before we had a few of the finer details down.)Doing Kenpachi will be a synch for him, it's totally his type of character. I can't wait to see it!
GoAnderson - LOL! I'm glad you like. Yeah, to be honest, I typically look a lot younger than I am. When it comes to pulling off younger characters, I tend to be okay. Monty wants me to do the main charrie from D Grayman because of this.
UWAPP - Aw! Thank you! Though you know what I definitely don't win at? Being tall, or walking in heels/platforms. That's gonna hurt as Ryuk x_x
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
PtR - I really need to post pictures of some of my cosplay friends. Seriously, they can do things that are still way above my skill level. Hell, some people I've seen on this forum in the past have done amazing things with fabric I wish I could do!
Really there's no "best" in cosplay. There's just how much fun you have doing it! …and yes. There will be more yuri with Mandy. She is my official Vivi-chw~an.
As for Yachiru...This is probably the only time I've ever wished I was shorter than I am already, LOL. My friend Steve is going to do Ken-cha, er, Kenpachi. He's pretty used to carrying me around so it should work =P
-
RE: The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
GoAnderson - Yeah, it is ridiculously creepy isn't it? and I'm glad you like my Rukia. I had actually been planning to cosplay her since before I had even decided to cosplay Nami (we're talkin' maybe 5 years ago) but I never really fell for Bleach as hard as One Piece. I think I know what you mean about the whole face thing. And Monty is planning on getting rid of the hair for Grimmy. Bleh.
Rootbeer - Aw man, my ego thanks you, but I am no where near the best. Maybe I have the best time doing it! There's something really cool about being able to recreate a certain look in the way you want, and I love doing it. As for my Vivi, there will be pleanty more with her to come, trust me! She's coming up to visit soon and take some pictures, haven't decided what costumes yet.
captain usopp - Wonderflex is so awesome! We're still working on the swords, so far we have Rukia's, Yachiru's, and Grimjaw's…I also may want to do my first Nami climatact over with it. Basically, it's a sheet of plastic that when heated, is moldable. You can buy it on www.cosworx.com. The cool thing is their supplier is 15 minutes from our apartment, so we can get it wholesale. It is SOOOOOOO awesome. I totally recommend it.
Here are a few silly pics I took for fun. I'm also cosplaying Yachiru from Bleach (SQUAD 11 FTW!) Again, robe's not done, and I don't have her arm thing yet…plus the wig isn't completely done. But I felt like being silly, so here ya go.
Yes, this is very half assed. And yes, our kitchen is that messy.
"….must get cookie...."
"Mmmmm!"
"I love Ken-chan! And making stuff bleed! But mostly Ken-chan."And finally…here is Monty in his third and most likely final Sanji wig. I LOVE THIS WIG. I think this is seriously the most Sanji Monty as ever looked (which is saying a lot, because even with his first wig I thought he pulled it off well.)
"WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY KITCHEN?!?! MOTHER FUCKER!"Buah. That made me laugh.

The New SetaGinny & madgophermm5 Cosplay Thread!
WARNING - THIS THREAD IS IMAGE HEAVY - DIAL UP USERS BEWARE!
Hey folks! It's been a while! Here's the deal - my old webserv is gone and all my pictures went with it. I have a new webserv now, and I'm going to try to reupload some of my old stuff, while adding new stuff.
For those of you who don't know us, Monty (madgopher) and I are a couple who met nearly five years ago cosplaying. We've been together since, and we're still costuming. We've done many skits at convention masquerades, some of you East Coast con goers may know us as the "Sausage of Love" people. …Our skits are usually a bit on the dirty side but we have done musicals too. And some how we've run away with awards for almost every one. Don't ask me how. I think it's because Monty's willing to (stage) kiss other guys =P
In any case, to start an older one, but one I am very proud of. It is Nami from this piece of artwork, and it was a joint effort between Monty and myself to make that lion.
After the next con, I should have more shots of this one.More recently, we've been working on Bleach cosplay. To me, Bleach costumes can be ridiculously boring. The outfits themself are easy to make and even easier to buy. What makes a Bleach costume unique and interesting, in my opinion, are the wigs and props. Right now our living room floor is a mess with wonderflex (a plastic moldable material I'll go into in another post) paint, and wood to make the swords, as well as wig hair clipping. Here are some pictures of the basic costumes so far. They're not completely done yet! Soon we'll have pics with the weapons.
Monty as Grimmjaw from Bleach..I'm going to miss his chest hair when its gone ;-;
Me as Rukia from Bleach…slipping through the snow. I'm kinda glad I didn't have their straw sandals at this point. And god damn was it bright out.
And finally…I love Ryuk from Death Note. I've loved him pretty much since I first saw him, and I've been wanting to cosplay him forever. It's finally going to happen! I have the fabric, wig, make up, and contacts, and I took a picture after fooling around with them last night. This is what I came up with. It is extremely half assed, but man...it creeps the hell out of me. And Monty.
And now I must go to work, but more to come soon! Definitely in the One Piece department, too. Monty got a new Sanji wig, and it looks rockin'.
-
RE: Pan's Labyrinth
This movie was all kinds of awesome. I haven't enjoyed a movie this much in a long time. I really loved how you could interpret the ending however you like.
-
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
I've been gone for….how long? I was working retail as a supervisor during the holidays...AND interviewing for an assistant director position at a tutoring center...which I got! So life is looking better, though this new job is going to keep me busy. But not too busy to neglect cosplay completely XD!
Unfortunately....I have not had an opportunity to take any better pics of that Nami Lion costume (thank you to everyone who showed their support! ...and trust me, Buu...that bra is ON. I bought it specifically because I knew it would stay on/look more accurate than anything else I could make or buy for that matter.) The best I can give you
Yeah. This skit needed SHITLOADS of work, as did my voice..and my movements…and my acting...and my ability to walk around in those really painful shoes. Plus the recording itself kinda sucks balls =\ But we did win Best Craftsman for it...and that was where we won the craftsmanship award for the painted pants with the Nami Lion costume so I'm not complaining. For those of you who don't understand the random appearance of Heman in this skit, go here.
In any case, I don't really have much else to offer right now. I'm not sure how many of you are Harry Potter fans, but my friends and I are having a Harry Potter photoshoot. It's basically an excuse to dork out, and then go to the Jelyll and Hyde club in NYC for dinner in costume. But yeah, I'm going to be Ginny (Weasley that is!)
I'm still in the process of making the robes and staining the wood of the wand, so pictures of the full costume coming soon. Isn't that wig sweet though?
-
RE: Untitled
ROFL I don't think I ever fully enjoyed this thread before. Great stuff everyone.
And for the record, I like oogling Nami's ass.
-
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
This is a really quick update..I will post more later, and I hope I can find some better pics…but yeah. Our skit took the Best Presentation Craftsman division award, and we WON AN AWARD FOR THE COSTUME!!!! I am so friggen hyped about this. We've won many awards for our presentations, but it was awesome to finally get one specifically for the costume.
Here is one picture off Fansview. I look ick =
-
RE: I dont like the idea of Cosplays
….I cosplay because it is fun. I really don't know how it is disturbing to make a costume. Sure, some might not be to your taste, but how does that make the entire hobby disturbing?
I'm a theater lover and actress at heart, but unfortunately I know that it would not be possible to make a career out of it. Cosplay is a way for me to still do what I love - create costumes, direct, and act. Convention skits are very low pressure (unless you put it on yourself, which I usually do) and ANYONE can get up there in the simplest of costumes, who has never been on stage before, and do their thing. It is the most awesome and fun thing ever. Again, not all skits and costumes will be to everyone's liking. To be honest, I personally don't like a lot of costumes and skits in the average cosplay. But I don't care so long as the people had fun doing it. And I have a blast doing mine - why else would I have been up till 2 in the morning recording music with my buddies, and then coming home from a 9 hour day at work to finish my Nami lion cloak costume? It's a lot of work, but it's fun, and it is a creative release.
I met my boyfriend of 4+ years whom I am living with (and will probably tie the knot with eventually) through cosplay. I've also met countless awesome friends through this hobby - people who don't care about what others think of them and just want to have fun. None of us are trying to BE anime characters, at least none of the ones I know. We just have a good time. We're not that different from people who go to sporting events decked out in the uniforms of their favorite players, painting their bodies in the team's colors, waving signs around yelling and screaming. We like to show what we love, hang around people who love it too, and have fun. That's all there is to it for me. (I cannot speak for everyone.)
Another thing I'd like to add about many of the Japanese cosplayers you see - They are not always the creator of the costumes. Many times (I would say most but I do not have the source right now to back it up) they are simply models displaying the work of others - and of course if you have several professionals putting together your costumes, with someone selected to wear it who looks like the character, with a professional photographer taking the pictures...it's going to look better then the picture of a person stopped on their way to the bathroom to have their picture taken with a disposable camera, whose costume was put together for fun and not for modeling.
Not to mention I do not always find Japanese cosplayers better. In a cosplay magazine my boyfriend and I were looking in at our local Kinokuniya, we were really shocked at the quality of some of the One Piece costumes. I've seen better state side. While this is an exception to many of the costumes you see, I still think it is possible for American costumes to be just as good if not better in some cases.

RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
Monty was actually dressed as Vicious (who has always been my fav) and his brother Cory was dressed as Spike. I was in a school girl outfit at the time, but after I met them I changed into Faye. We had a good time running around Otakon 2002 together, and Monty and I clicked almost instaneously. Crazy how things happen sometimes…
-
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
Local-chan - I think this is a case where red eyes look appropriate. And thank you!
Buuhan - Yes, doesn't he though? He is REALLY good at looking evil! XD
captain usopp - The Death Note manga drew me in about a year ago, and it is seriously one of the few series to hold my attention in a long time. It is great to finally see it anime-ized so well! It is definitely worth checking out.
MRED - Everything needs more Man Faye. He is my personal hero. I did do Faye years ago, though (it is how Monty and I met in fact.) Here is a crappy pic:
That was one of the first things I made from scratch and if you look at it up close boy it really shows. If we remake our Bebop costumes for the Cowboy Bebop 10th anniversary, I definitely am going to go for a more sturdy fabric and line it. -
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
I realized I never mentioned this. Manto - sharpie doesn't stain the skin! If you scrub it good, it comes off well. But it CAN bleed on to light colored shirts. Fortunately I wear a lot of black XD!
I'm feeling a lot better guys, thanks for all your well wishes. I was in a pretty icky spot a month back x_x Now I'm good, I'm just getting a cold, which better go the eff away before AUSA!
As for Monty doing Lucci, if he borrowed my friend's Lust wig, he could have the costume in two seconds XD! I'll have to take a picture some time. Any excuse to get my birdy into a cosplay pic XD! (And he's actually a cockatiel. A very, very insane cockatiel…I could go on about him for hours.)
The lion head is coming along well (so far) but for the moment I have something completely different to post. Our last minute Death Note costumes for Manga Next! I've been planning to cosplay Ryuk for about a year now, with Monty as Light, but there was really no way I could put that together for Manga Next. So we opted for L and Light instead. Unfortunately, Monty's wig SUCKED ASS. It did NOT look like the picture sample at all and we are going to get a better one for him for the next time. I am fairly happy with the L wig, I had to do a lot of styling to it in order to make it Lish. The only prob is the hairspray makes the wig look shiney in some pictures. People did think it was my real hair at times though...scary thought =P
I really like the idea of L and Light playing a duet on the piano while handcuffed. XD! Someday I'd like to take a better version of this pic. -
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
DFG - Yup yup, like I said in the original post I painted the pants. I actually drew it in chalk first…and I think I liked how the design initially looked in chalk better. It was difficult to trace it in paint. And yes...my poor Nami wig ;-; I need to do so much work on it.
Local-chan - Thanks...yeah the sickness was really a setback. Glad it's looking good so far.
PtRB - Thank you muchly!! Yes, this costume has been a lot of hard work so far, and there is still a lot of work to go. But it's a lot of fun seeing it start to come together and I appreciate everyone's kind words. As for the wig, it doesn't really show as much in pictures but the ends are frizzed from when I last had to hair spray it. Hopefully a washing and careful combing should do the trick, maybe even a bit of a trim which I've been meaning to do forever.
And that is my birdy Griffin XD! He is going to cosplay Hattori some day!
-
RE: Seta Ginny's Cosplay
Just wanted to say thank you for everyone's comments from ages ago. I've been both sick and busy in the last month and a half, so I haven't really had a chance to update this thread. I know I have a ton of other pictures I should have posted ages ago, but I'm really excited and anxious about this costume. Since my boots finally arrived today, I decided to take some pictures with the bits of the costume I have together so far. All and all, I am feeling all right about it. The boots look really good for it, and the bra makes me look like I have a chest. The jeans….Well I hand painted them myself. I originally tried to stick exactly to the pattern of the Nami jeans only to find my legs were not long enough =P So I had to make a good chunk of the pattern up. I also need to make sure the last remainders of chalk dust from when I initially drew it are off. AND MY POOR NAMI WIG. It desperately needs a bath and some TLC.
The Lion head is...coming along. Once we have something more to show we'll post. But for now....
The reference pic...yeah I know I don't compare.
Work in progress pictures….
Yowch…so much left to do x_x The Lion head is coming along, I'll post pictures as there is more to see. -
RE: Sony Pulls a Stupid
Guys, let's try to keep this wank free. I know how much everyone loves to be snarky and assholeish to each other, but it's a major headache for the mods. It hasn't gotten bad yet but we don't wanna see it explode, so yes. Keep things on topic and clean. Thank you.

RE: Death Note Anime Discussion
I still found the animation to be quite good, if it stayed at the level it is in ep 2 I would be happy. Wow, I haven't been this anxious to watch a raw in a while. Very good episode, I'm curious to see how far next week's will cover.
And I really wish one of the subbers would speed sub it. I understand it is probably a lot of work, but hey =P I can hope.

RE: Death Note Anime Discussion
Folks - this is a thread for the ANIME. The anime has had ONE episode. If someone is following the anime, YES THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE MANGA ARE SPOILERS. Please remember to use tags. If you don't, warnings will be issued.
Further more…this is a discussion for the anime, if you want to talk in depth about manga only events, please go to the manga thread.
And I am currently on the hunt for the raw of episode 2.

RE: Death Note Anime Discussion
Has anybody seen ANY sub at all yet? I don't need some fancy smancy karaoke opening or whatever, just something with readable, coherent subtitles.

RE: Chapter 430 "The Light Snow of Reminiscence Falls" Discussion
…...Just the artwork alone, not even a high quality scan of it, with no translation, was enough to bring me to tears. That really says something for Oda's story telling.
Wow. When this is animated with background music, I am going to be bawling like a baby.

RE: AMV plagiarization.
I sign in to fix my spelling of plagiarization, only to find the video has already been taken down. The influx of comments probably scared the person off…Heh, thank you so much to everyone who showed their support. I seriously do appreciate it! It really is sad to see people doing things like this.

AMV plagiarization.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me unfortunately, but someone took my "The Navigator and Swordsman" amv and posted it on You Tube claiming it was theirs. They even made their own credits for it. I really don't know why they're bothering, there are so many better videos out there for them to lay seige on. I love this video to death, and I won an award for it, but there are so many flaws. I guess it's flattering to have someone claim it is theirs but yeah >.< I am definitely pissed off about this and want it removed.
=That is the link to it. Please feel free to leave comments informing this person it is not their own. Also, it has been so long since I reported someone on You Tube…does anyone know how I go about getting it removed? Unfortunately I don't think their removal for breech of copyright really applies here.
