I thought we were supposed to have a filler clip show episode about Sanji and Zoro…
Er yeah, that was last week.

The problem with episodes like this that are animated so beautifully is that Toei can't handle the quality and cost, so they'll revert to the usual animation within the next few episodes. It would be amazing if all of "Roof Piece" could be animated this well and consistently… but it won't be. Also if I had a dime for every Oden flashback, callback or reference that we've had during the Onigashima invasion arc, I'd have at least $50 by now. :getlost:
How is this still happening and for such long periods of time? Felt like a month this time around. Not that this forum is all-that active even when it's accessible, but it's still annoying that something as minor as DMCA claims can totally screw up the site for weeks whereas other sites usually resolve these problems in a matter of hours.
I'm surprised and disappointed that there's such a huge gap between One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Tokyo Revengers. Especially since I thought JJK was mediocre and I've only heard of Tokyo Revengers in the past couple of months.
People on here have always talked about how One Piece is among the best selling manga in Japan, so I expected much higher numbers tbh. Even ignoring the new "Big 3", I would've thought One Piece could outsell AoT or MHA at the very least.
I liked this episode a whole lot more than episode 1000, which says a lot about how mediocre that one was. Still the Thriller Bark flashback did not need to happen here since we'd see that same damn flashback a couple weeks ago iirc. The animation towards the end was nice though and at least things looked like they were moving forward at a reasonable pace.
The preview for 1002 looks good but in typical One Piece fashion the actual episode will likely be 18 minutes of stalling with only a few good scenes in between lol. I feel like I have Observation Haki at this point. :ninja:
Of course Toei would find some way to ruin one of the most highly anticipated hype scenes of the arc. :getlost: Sometimes I genuinely wonder why I even bother with this anime lol. And Christ on a bike, Shinobu still hasn't untied Momonosuke?!
He's said this so many times that it's lost all meaning. I don't see the series ending before 2025 though. Given all the material that still needs to be covered plus Oda's generally awful pacing, it'll be a miracle if he ends the series within the next 4 years.
Are we sure the tobi roppo are done and that the big mom pirates wont join the fights? Im predicting the raid ending at the end of 105 and the entirety of 106 being post-raid stuff. The crew either leave wano in the last chapter or at the beginning of 107
It's pretty clear that Oda doesn't care about the Big Mom Pirates given that he's trolled almost all of them. So no, I don't expect them to get fights even if they arrive at Onigashima, which will probably be at the end of the arc after Kaido and Big Mom lose imo. As for the Tobi Roppo, I can't imagine what good it would do to have any of them return. Oda can't keep stalling things especially now that Luffy vs Kaido round three is happening. I figure the arc will end in volume 103 or 104.
And I'm not buying any of this "Act 4" business. People have been predicting that every chapter since Luffy and the others reached the roof of the skull, and yet it doesn't come.
One of the few things that I used to love about the anime is how they'd typically handle important moments and character debuts/reveals very well, so I always looked forward to iconic manga moments being adapted in the anime. But wow, the pacing has gotten so bad that even moments like Yamato's reveal felt sloppy and badly handled even though it should've been a really cool scene. On one hand I'm just glad that it's over with, but on the other hand it's disappointing that this installment felt like any other episode and not something more monumental like it could've been. This recent streak of mediocrity in the anime needs to end.
This was one of those episodes where we were clearly supposed to fawn over the animation and ignore the obvious pacing issues, but I can't appreciate 2 minutes of quality material while suffering through 18 minutes of lackluster anime. I mean the flashback of Ulti and Page One falling down the stairs wasn't needed ffs, as we saw that scene last week so nobody forgot about it, and speaking of unnecessary scenes, those "tension" scenes where Luffy and Ulti were glaring at each other for like 10 seconds each time were ridiculous. Those scenes are always so cringy, but they stood out in this episode in particular. If the episode needed padding, the animators could've come up with something different, such as extending Luffy vs Ulti and Page One even further than they already did and giving us a really good fight.
Also, I dunno why they skipped the scene from the manga where the BP fodders laughed at Luffy when he said that he wanted to be the Pirate King.
