Hahaha, I just noticed that when Shirahoshi picks Nami up to talk to her, Chopper is hanging on for dear life. http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/75149428/17
I hate to break this to you, but Jinbe is infinitely closer to being a main character than Perona is.
Oh my god you said Perona.
Guess Jimbe is joining then.
Hahaha, do you seriously not see the difference between an editing error and intentional design change? Even the difference between a minor character receiving a scar over the course of 12 years should be obviously different than a main character losing a scar when going back in time to tell their story. Please tell me you see the difference.
Still going on about that scar ? lol
And I hate to break this to you but Jimbe is not a main character.
He wasn't even a main character in "his" flashback…
@Dan:
I feel a second flashback will happen at some point later on in this arc. There's still too many unanswered questions, and another flashback seems to best way to resolve them. If it happens, that one would probably serve as "Jinbe's flashback".
Yeah Jimbe will have 57 flashbacks and Oda will give him a special award for being the coolest nakama ever.
Are you in love with Jimbe ?
In other words, do you like fish sticks ?
Awww, so sad. You has so much hope for this "Jimbe flashback", didn't you ?
As it turned out Jimbe's past is not that excting. Deal with it like a man.
Yep, I was right. Just like I said I would be,
Right is the new wrong. Got it.
am quite surprised Oda went through all the work of removing the scar when he did absolutely nothing with it. Another tale for another time, perhaps. Perhaps we'll never know. My question still stands, however; given Oda's history with scars and subtle details, why go through the effort of removing it in the first place if there was no story behind it? Very curious.
Or perhaps, this scar is of no importance whatsoever since Jimbe is and will remain a side character and that is why Oda did not see fit to tell that (riveting I'm sure lol) story.
Not sure why you are so butt-hurt about it,
Have I been transported to bizaro world ?
but yeah, I still think the flashback was about Jinbe. At least in the same manner I think all other flashbacks were about their respective crew members.

lol
Do I think Otohime's and Tiger's stories played equally important roles, if not more in some regard? Yes. Do I think Sabo and Ace did in Luffy's? Yes. Do I think Tom and Iceburg did in Franky's? Yes. Do I think Saul and Olvia did in Robins? Yes. Do I think Kureha and Hiruluk did in Chopper's? Yes. Zeff in Sanji's? Yorki in Brook's? Kuina in Zoro's? Nojiko and Bellemere in Nami's? Usopp's mom? Yep. All of them. They all were an important part in the development of the respective character the flashback was about. I've been saying this for weeks.
They were important but they did not completely and utterly overshadow the future nakama's focus as in Jimbe's case.
In no single chapter of this flashback was Jimbe the main character.
Every single nakama was without the shadow of a doubt the star of his or her flashback. Easily.
Arguably that is not the case in Luffy's flashback but I don't think oda needed to establish Luffy's nakama credentials after developing the main character of the manga for like 570 chapters…...
@brennen.exe:
I'm also betting you disagree that this flashback started with a question about Jinbe and ended with an answer about Jinbe.
huh ?
This flashback was about giving Nami's answers as to why her childhood was stolen.
It was the conclusion to the Arlong arc. And it gives a much needed emotional context to this arc
That's all it was.
Nami has forgiven Jimbe. Jimbe's done now. It's over.
I don't think you believe your own bullshit for one second by the way. You're smarter than this (I hope). You're just playing a part right now.
._______.
Is that a slight ?
Because from someone who believes Zoro is not stronger than Hody, that'd be rich…

It was not a flashback about Jimbe as people were so adamant about (but much less so now, aren't we ?) only a short while ago
I really enjoyed the flashbacks, however its great to get back to the present. Sanji is kind of annoying in this chapter, being back to nose bleeds and being a bit of a jerk, oi I was hopping he'd be over that by now due to hearing Jinbe's story and seeing the mermaid princess  Luffy being a sleep is too funny, so like him and of course he's intrested in Hodi now, he's always intrested in the main villains some way or another Cool to see Nami forgiving Jinbe, that was great of her. I agree, the chances of the mermaid Princess and Jinbe joining just went up, wonder which one will end up joining in the end. Over all, good arc.
errr, Jimbe has absolutely no chance to join anymore.
This flashback wa clearly not about him and Nami just forgave him.
The character has nothing to offer anymore.
And the princess is just too damn big and weak.
Only fukaboshi's chances went up.
The way the pirate did'nt get a chance to justify his killing Otohime us suspicious.
Has Hody been manipulated ?
Congratulations to Fukaboshi for being the next nakama.
