Well if he's nowhere to be found, what choice do you have? Just stop forever because of it? That's a) lazy, and b) just being an ass to fans.
Also it's pretty obvious you shouldn't get an inexperienced new editor, you don't think your guy is the only experienced editor out there, do you? And not to be rude, while you do do a big job, it's not like your editing is exceptional or stellar, so he wasn't that good to begin with. You can find as good or better.
