RE: Zoro's Sensei?
I think the point is not that the lesson was missed…but the fact that many are thinking back on this and wondering if this is a sign of the sensei's own strength (i.e. if he could actually be on par with Zoro even after he learned how to cut steel). Because now that I think about it, if the sensei was truely able to apply it rather than just espouse on it, he could have some hidden skill of his own.

RE: Zoro's Sensei?
You know, I never thought of that…but looking back at it, it does seem that his sensei, at the very least, grasped the concept before Zoro, and could show the restraint to protect a piece of paper. Whether or not this means he could do it to the full extent is yet to be seen, but it leaves the possibility that he could indeed hear the breath of things enough to cut whatever he wished.

RE: Chapter 434 "White Beard and Red Hair" Discussion
In regards to Buggy, I repost my big thing concerning his possible power from the spoiler thread on the Chapter:
I have no doubt that Buggy has something going for him. He seems ok with being in the Grand Line, to the point that he actually was nostaligic for it (though now I wonder if he had been there with his current crew before, or just with Roger's crew). But the fact of the matter is that there is a ridiculous gulf between Shanks and Buggy, at least in terms of achievements.
Shanks is one of the Yonkou. He's a famous and feared pirate. Robin expressed amazement that Luffy had past connections to Shanks. He's considered a major threat by the WG, to the point that he needs to be checked by the Shichibukai and Marines, along with the other 3 Yonkou.
Look at Buggy. A 15 Mil. Bounty in East Blue, the weakest of the four Blues according to Mihawk. Now, I don't doubt that Buggy could probably deal with the other three major antagonists of the East Blue saga, if he can survive the Grand Line. And bounties might be fairly relative, considering that another member of an infamous crew, Arlong, was a threat to conquer all of East Blue, and yet warranted 'only' a 20 Mil bounty. Still, compared to one of his former crewmates, as well as a pedigree of being crew to THE PIRATE KING, you'd think he'd have achieved more. It's not for lack of ambition, since he seems to have plenty of that. And his DF power certainly makes him a threat under normal circumstances. Still, if he was as ridiculously powerful to the point that he could be a threat to Luffy, post-Gears, after all that he's learned and gone through, you have to wonder. Remember, Buggy had to have been active for a long time, if he went his own way since Roger's execution 20 years ago. He's got to be fairly old at this point. If he hasn't reached some kind of high potential at this point, like Whitebeard and Shanks, then either he never had that kind of potential, or he wasted it and is likely never going to reach that potential at this stage in his life.
Remember this. Luffy is pretty damn exceptional. He's a rookie pirate by all means, but he's managed to make 100 million, and likely is going to be worth even more come the next bounty. Reflect on the fact that Bellamy, another member of a former Shichibukai's crew, was a 'Super Rookie' at 55 mil. He more than likely was seen as ridiculously exceptional too before his meeting with Luffy. Yet despite his experience both as a member of Doflamingo's crew, as well as a 'Super Rookie' captain himself, he was dismissed by Luffy with one punch. Not to mention that he was 'trained' by Garp. A man who is famous for his encounter with Roger (though it's questionable if he actually captured Roger or not).
Yes, I realize that bounties aren't the sole arbitrators of strength. But they are a fairly good indicator, barring incidents like Ohara (in regards to Robin's bounty). But look at it this way. Luffy's risen up to a level where the WG government views him and a ragtag crew of 7 total as a massive threat, all within what can't be more than a year or two since starting his life as a pirate. Buggy, meanwhile, has to have been active for 20 years at the LEAST. And yet, what has he managed but a 15 Mil. bounty in the weakest Blue.
Buggy may have more strength than he's had a chance to show. But with all factors considered, he can't have that much more room for growth, and if he had more power, you'd think he'd have done more than putter about causing mischief and mayhem in East Blue. He doesn't have the age or luxury of ridiculous training like Luffy, Meppo, and Koby have had. He doesn't seem to be regard as much of a threat by Marines, forget on the level of Luffy or former crewmate Shanks. All this considered, I can't see him as being comparable to Luffy in any way as he is right now.

RE: People we miss in One Piece
Vivi and Carue - They were such a great part of the crew, it was sad that they had to leave. I understand why, but…I have to agree with the crew (sans Zoro and Robin). I MISS HER! :cwy:
Smoker - C'mon....best Marine character out there. He's badass and not quite as ruthless or seemingly corrupt as the other non-administrative Marines have been.
Tashigi - Zoro and her HAVE to meet again. Hopefully, she's not quite Robin-lite in appearance though next time she pops up.
Buggy - C'mon...not only is he the funniest of the major villains, but the most hardy!
Shank - Show us why you're famous, other than your ridiculous penchant for drinking and partying, you lush!

RE: Chapter 432 "Jack in the Box" Discussion
@Octogon:
Seriously, does Smoker seem like the type of person to care how strong someone is? He's try and put some smoker in their ass anyway, even if is was the Whitebeard.
THat's how I figure it. I think the only reason he didn't try and take down Crocodile when he had the chances was 1) He was captured by said Croc, and 2) He felt that finding the rain ship he figured Croc had was more important, as it would give him the leeway to take Croc on afterward (what with the man being revered as a hero before the whole plot came to light).
Which is why I still find his exchange with Dragon at Logue Town suspect. Maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there…but there seems to be something deeper between them than just 'Marine and Revolutionary'. It seems like there was a past connection between them.

RE: One Piece The Movie - The Desert Princess and the Pirates
Vividly. Man, I might have to remake that again after this movie. XD
May I state, for the record…that YOU ARE MY GOD.
All that was missing from the trailer was the ubiquitous promo voice that they get for all the movie commercials. I had to have watched this trailer at least a hundred times since I first found it.

RE: Chapter 432 "Jack in the Box" Discussion
The Marines of the OP world follow the British system of Naval/Marine rankings, so I do not think Smoker's a VA just yet; it's more likely he was promoted one rank to Commodore. Tashigi isn't even an officer; she's enlisted, which would mean Marine rankings apply to her. If she was a Master Sergeant, she's now a Sergeant Major.
In rare cases (like war) enlisted can become officers; my Grandfather was an enlisted Marine in WWII and he became an officer (I think he was a Captain, though I am not sure).
EDIT: Dang, Smoker's ahead of Saul! The same goes for Tashigi and Hina!Maybe they did jump two ranks? Yargh. o.O
Tashigi was a Sergeant Major before, though, wasn't she? Or something equivalent (Wiki lists her as "Master Chief Petty Officer")?

RE: –-The Mystery of One Piece...solved?---
But then that'd be boring xD
In all actuallity Oda has made the Ponyglyphs and the void history Robin's thing.
Why make it Luffy's too?One Piece is the treasure that'll make you king of the Pirates. The void history isn't something of piracy. It's something a revolutionary might want hint hint
Roger-sama may have known alot of the Ponyglyphs. But that kinda thing won't make you Kazoku-o. That kind of think makes you "Demons" or "outcasts" like Ohara. To be Kaizoku-o you need to be what? The best Pirate out there. What makes a Pirate? THAT is the question that leads to the answer to One Piece.Thing is, though, from what we know, Luffy is an…unconventional pirate, and he seems to carry on the spirit of Roger, from the way people keep comparing the two. Who's to say that Roger was your typical pirate?
Not to mention that the fact that Roger could not only read Poneglyphs, but WRITE them is not only an amazing feat...but a feat that makes you an instant threat (it's the reason why Robin is such a threat, after all). And then there's the mystery of the Will of D. The whole mystery of the D could very well be connected to the void century and the lost civilization Clover talked about.
