In chapter 388 Cocolo said "The world will be astounded by something that nobody has done in past hundreds of years." So someone already infiltrated Water Seven. Why don't we know about more such things? It really is like the world of One Piece has begun with the crimes of Gold Roger and other legends who lived in that era, and before that nothing EVER happened. The only exception I can think of just now is Kagara and other people of that Jaya arc, the whole conspiracy thing and Joy Boy. Oda is missing a lot of opportunities here. There can't be enough awesome, legendary old farts.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you're not trolling. My response to this is… I prefer it. In the case of Naruto the 1st Hokage was the found, so there wasn't that much more (apparently) before then. And considering his death can't have been much more than like 75? 100? years ago I feel Naruto is lacking moreso in this area than anything.
In the case of One Piece, Gol D Roger is the equivalent of the 1st Hokage. He founded the pirate age, so to speak. Because of this, of course more info is dedicated to his time and explaining what came from there. BUT we also get to realize One Piece actually has a historically relevant past. Not only Joy Boy, Kagara and Norland, but just other small things. The Rumbar Pirates scene, Robin reading the poneglyphs, all the ish with Enel. There's plenty of hints that stuff existed before the current couple of ages.
Even more amazing than that, whereas Naruto started off with the whole "Next Generation is awesome and better!" theme, it kind of delineated into just showing how they lacked power in comparisson to those from an age that... is only like a couple of decades old, really. And everyone that's important are all quite specifically shown to be related in some fashion or another. In terms of One Piece, you can have random history and myths that are related to the overall story and lore, but not necessarily to any particular character in a sense. Also, we quite literally see the ending and beginning of 2 generations. (Whatever Roger's Era was, The Great Pirate Age, and now the New Age.)
As for the bolded statement... I can't even bring myself to respond to it. I'm not a One Piece fanatic, but I just can't believe you read the series if you said something of that nature... Admitedlly we don't know a lot about the immediate preceding times before (which is fine, it's irrelevant. It's like if Robert Jordan included any information on any time besides the Age of Myth and the current. Pointless). But, we definitely know FOR SURE that things happened before. A decent amount of critical things really.
