I really hope we all do see a Luffy-Burgess face off - even if it is prematurely interrupted so that no one is a clear winner, but goes on just long enough for us to size up Burgess' level against that of Luffy's at the present time.

RE: Chapter 664: Master Caesar Clown
Edit: I can't be the only one who gets completely absorved and impressed with this kind of chapter, so damn full of info. I find them among the best One Piece has to offer. That and Oda just wanting to explain EVERYTHING, like "look there's some laboratory in pieces here", it didn't even need an explanation, but he gives it to us anyways. Or that the dragon was a Tenryubito favorite and even had a name. He just loves to gives us info, and I appreciate him even more for all the effort he makes.
No you are not!! I too love that Oda goes the extra mile and really lays int he details… thats what makes it so realistic, and considering how whacky the OP world really is, wow, thats an amazing thing!
…because Brownbeard said that Law did it?
I tend to trust the stuff that Oda wrote, but hey, maybe that's just me!Umm.. Law is a doctor too you know… its not big leap to consider that Law could or would do something like that. CC could have done it too, sure, but Law having done it, imo, doesn't take anything away from the character of CC or the story line. We already know what CC is capable of as a scientist without needing this in his resume. Law's ability allows him to slice up living beings without leaving them with any damage at all and then maybe he used his docrtor skills and/or another manifestation of his DF ability to make the legs part of the people he attached them too (because I dont think law can 'give' people limbs just by cutting them up, and sticking them onto the people).
A very good chapter imo, hilarious as always (especially Franky in Chopper's body trying to do the SUUPER pose, but failing due to the T-Rex type small hands lol) and CC's design is pretty great, it suits the mad scientist persona perfectly! Joker could be a high level marine, we will find out.
With the Dragon being a VP creation, I wonder what Ryuuma cut up and became famous for? Surely there are real Dragons out there? Maybe the Tenryuubitto wanted a Dragon as a pet (their names and their fascination with such things like Mermaids and their enormous egos makes this a virtual certainty) and made VP create one for them. I wondeer if Oda is planning to use them further in the plots.. since it was mentioned that they could adapt to any environment. Does this imply that there would be an ice breathing Dragon on this side of the island if one were left here? What about a water dwelling Dragon then?

RE: Chapter 657: A severed Head
-sigh- cant believe people are arguing whether the bird person is a guy or girl
Oh well is anyone else disappointed about no Brook this chapter? He too should be awakening just anout now. What will happen when Smoker and Tashigi get to the ship?
I think Brook can most likely hold his ground against Tashigi, and I don't think Smoker will have much interest in Brook alone and he will go to the island and leave Brook, Tashigi, and some of his G5 men on board the Sunny.Yeah i think it will take some more time for Smoker to ride in…. If I were Brook and I awoke alone on the ship, I would first try to contact the others using the Den Den Mushi like Sanji tried to so before he fell asleep and then try to get to the island to look for the captured mates or meet up with the others. If he cant get to the island, I suspect he will use his new tech of separating from his body to get to the island. But yeah Brook vs Tashigi would be interesting to see because both are ultimately users of swords.
Fair point. Yeah, Law is definitely the most likely culprit in my eyes - just thought these few things I pointed out earlier seem odd, for what we've seen of him so far, therefore also considering the possibility of a new character - I hope we'll see who's behind this soon enough.
Yeah I noticed too that the lines only truly went away in the correct alignment and also that the head seemed to not just 'put together' with the correct parts just placed at the right places, but the head seems to have 'reattached' properly. For now, this all screams Law, but someone else's power could very well be involved. My biggest doubt comes from law's personality - to me he doesn't seem to be the type to become a Schichi but who knows, maybe…

RE: Chapter 657: A severed Head
! @Katzztar:
! > This is to anyone who complains about Oda taking breaks =
I've said it before. There is far more to the art than just draw on paper and viola! its ready to print. So many people think that or they act that one week is enough to do everything. The Mangaka have plot out the story, check with old facts (you know things Oda's mentioned years ago -sometimes 10 years ago, remember Arlong Park and how people mentioned how it resembled part of FI) so the story meshes together.
Draw it out, edit it, fix mistakes, ink it, add speach, deal with editors, if there are changes they want before printing, deal with that, then get it printed, also work on other projects …like the Deep Blue thats due to come out soon.
That is a lot for just one single week.I've always wondered about some people (I know NOT all of them are like that) who whine that it takes too many breaks, how many of those peole reas the action comics like Marvel, DC, or Image ect? Those comics have more than one person doing the art, usually one to draw, sometimes ink as well or have a different person to ink, another person to color, ect. And they take entire month to put out one issue. I've seen some fanboys red those comics without complaint, then turn around and whine that Oda takes too many breaks.
Well first off thanks for just asking, and not saying (like some have done) that "Oda takes too many breaks!" or "That's too long!" Now to answer your qestion, he does not need to be sick to rest up. You don't need to be sick to have the weekends off. Thing is, Oda has so much to do, I do not think that a weekend helps...or if he takes weekends off. He has the right to rest once in a while.
A few chapters ago? Try 6 chapters ago, that is his usual time currently. A year ago, it was 4-5 weeks then a break. As an average, he usually takes one week off about after 6-7 weeks of work. Go to the page on Mangareader where they post the list of all the chapters, it has the dates of when they came out, http://www.mangareader.net/103/one-piece.html I counted the breaks he's had since May 2011=

So over the past 9 months, Oda has about six breaks (not including the upcoming one). Frankly, I don't think thats too bad at all.WOW man! Thanks… I knew the Mangakas needed to work hard, but to see it likethis in a list format is pretty good... and to think that some other mangakas do even more grueling work than this. I mean, presumably, the mangakas love doing mangas and thats why they got into it in the first place, but still physically its pretty demanding. I've been reading Bakuman and that seems to be the case for a weekly manga, even if you have a ton of assistants. Plus, I think Oda packs a lot into a single chapter so its OK. And we wouldnt want Oda to burn out now would we ;P.... more time for theories then!

RE: Chapter 657: A severed Head
Is Oda sick or something?? I heard there was gonna be a break - and we just had the new years a few chapters ago! :/

RE: Chapter 657: A severed Head
OK, so another great chapter of piling up the mysteries - I guess Oda knows he had to start off the NW with a bang and he did.
The Law theory seems less likely to me now as a result of the other elements shown in this chapter - the birdwoman and the giant kids. The severed Samurai head and the talking legs can still be only explained by Law's DF ability, because the Samurai head did say he was cut up by someone he doesnt know but survived somehow. But since his kid was kidnapped too, I guess theres a crazy experimenter who needs kids for his experiments (hence the giant kids we saw, unless the theory of the 'shrunken pirates' is correct). Someone could be trying to mimic Law's ability through experiment or have developed it for some other reason.
The comedic elements of the chapter were great as usual - Luffy's Centaur performance, Robin's "Luffy thats gross" comment, Luffy 'getting Dragon powers', the whole severed head bit… pretty damn funny. Also, the birdwoman was having a sinister expression as if she just saw her prey - so its gonna lead to nice things :P

RE: Chapter 657: A severed Head
Oda is an incredible genius (take that, Niizuma Eiji!!).
But, first things first:
Even though its still technically possible for Law to be the one who did this to the Samurai, I doubt it after this chapter - there are too many other mysteries that need to be explained and all Law brings to the table is his ability. It looks much more like some mad scientist like Vegapunk going slightly overboard with his experiments. Presumably he needs young children (of different races) for his experiments since he has a bunch of giant kids (WTF!!) and also a Smaurai kid was kidnapped.
That bird-woman/angel looked positively sinister, as if thinking, "Here's some nice new delicious little playthings for me slurp". haha. She could also be part of the results of the experiments or simply be a Zoan if shes was indeed a human to begin with.
Also:
Couldn't Sanji have destroyed the wall by himself?! His statement "But Nami-san, the wall is solid rock" implies otherwise….. I really think Sanji shouls have been capable of destroying it w/o needing to talk abt it u know? Just one kick and its done.
Just a thought here, maybe the warlord has a "puzzle" fruit, it would explain why you can attach this samurai anyway you please.
Great idea!
You know what ? WHAT IF Buggy got more or less tricked after the war to become a Shichibukai because they noticed his DF allowed him to survive so many attacks (explosions, freezeing, being cut by Mihawk, …) and then he was presented to VegaPunk who was able to extract/copy his power, as he did for Kuma ???
I think you meant Kizaru's powers, but it sounds reasonable. But I'd think the WG's intention in getting Buggy for the Schicih position was motivated more by the urgency to fill the slot and appear to be in control after the war rather than thinking so far ahead as to add his ability to the PXs or whatever. But it could definitely have happened later on….

RE: Chapter 656: "Adventure on the Burning Island"
I don't believe Law is going to fight the SHP. He seems to have a plan, and I believe he will use the SHP for his goals. What is his goals? I believe he thinks Luffy will find One Piece and take that oppotunity to steal it right under their noses. Maybe I am giving it to much thought.
I always thought Blackbeard might be the one to do that… you know, I can imagine he's won over the other Yonkous (maybe), but he's unable to find Raftel despite having a major influence in NW because something special is needed (like what Roger was gonna tell WB) or having the ability to "hear the voice of all things" like Roger and Luffy possibly and he follows the SHs somehow and then they battle it out on Raftel either before or after Luffy finds OP.
But thats going off topic.. yeah to me it sounds like Law isnt the kinda guy who does random things so he probably wont fight thme unles they are directly in his way.

RE: Chapter 656: "Adventure on the Burning Island"
As for the swimmin island thing:
A train on the water surface just floating by rails is not less impossible than a swimming island.
I just hoped we'd c the start from this project and I'd be very disappointed if we didn't see it in the end of the story, but I'm sure we'll c it completed sum day.Are you talking about the Water 7 being a floating city according to Iceburg's plans here? If so, I agree… I guess we can look forward to seeing a floating W7 soon.

RE: Chapter 656: "Adventure on the Burning Island"
In terms of who has the DF abilities able to pull this 'torso-less talking man" off, I can only think its Law and that hes the Schihi who did this, but I dont think Law's involved here. Of course, it aint Buggy-sama either, IMO. What I would like to see is it being new Schichibukai we havent heard of yet - some NW veteran who truly shows us what the real level of the NW is.
And since the the torso-less man said "I'm not letting my target away buh! That foolish Schihibukai!", it seems that the Samurai are fighting this Schihi. Nevertheless in terms of "foolish Schihcibukai", it only reminds me of Buggy-sama, and it makes sense that the Samurai is infuriated with Buggy-sama coz he cant be cut down and killed lol (unless we are talking of COA Haki which is ofc, entirely possible seeing as how the Samurai exhibited COO signs).
Also, I loved it how the torso-less man was almost suction stuck to the Dragon and came out with a 'POP' sound lol…
