ya know to me it looks like Luffy is straight up blocking those swords with his soft fabric Sandals, or are we to assume that Zoro was just messing with us when he claimed to go all out and turned the swords just to be nice ?

Well Luffy seems to have a tight grip on zoro's arm, so that probably helped him block that attack. And the power of the bazooka might also have helped in neutralizing zoro's attack.

Frankly, I don't see a problem with it. If someone's not well trained in their logia, it doesn't mean they're gonna win. Plus, Logia can have a weakness. Enel and Crocodile had one, and even Smoker got hit when caught off guard. It's not like Logia's are the end-all, beat all of devil fruits.
Logias are pretty much the end-all beat all of devil fruits so far, every Logia we have seen so far, have been immensely powerful.

So, I haven't watched the anime in a while, about two months or so. I probably still wouldn't watch it, if the newest episode wasn't so important, and what can I say?
Holy shit! This episode was total fucking gar-bitch!
Ok, that was too harsh, but I just wanted to use that line… My main problem with this episode was that they used Movie 7-like animation, which I hate with a passion. Most of the background characters, like Iceburd and Kokoro looked alright, but the Straw Hats looked like shit. There are a few other, minor things that annoyed me. I'll spoil it, just in case, because it involves something important.
I agree with you the animation is crap nowdays, it has really gone downhill.
I hope the next chapter has…
Oz waking up and starting to fight Moria. Thene veryone sets off to fight and goes their own ways, and Sanji learns that Absalom is going to marry Nami.
Final pages. Sanji kicks down a big wall and screams to stop the wedding... Zoro cuts through a stone wall and takes out like 10 zombie generals. Luffy crushes the entire 900 chamber and punches Moria in the stomach. Probably not going to happen, but hey I can always dream...
And Usopp and Chopper scrubbing Sunnys toilets

The only flawed logic here is anyone saying shanks isn't a swordsman and anyone saying mihawks title is irrelevent.

Shanks is infinitely more important to the plot than Mihawk. Especially since Shanks was the 3rd main character introduced in the entire manga, the first two being Roger and Luffy, respectively.
But Shanks role is not to be the end goal for the swordman who wants to be the best in the world. Shanks can be 100 times stronger then Mihawk for all I care but he will never be a better swordman cause Oda has built up Mihawk as the best in the world for 9 years.
