ToP is definitely worth a second try, it's an awesome game. That said, anyone else watching the new OAV?
edit: urg, sorry, totally missed the second line of your post  Heh, it's seems to be a good show, too bad the episodes are months apart…

… Once a fire is lit, manipulating oxygen around it would only increase the flame's intensity, if anything.

True, but would Mustang be able to control the flames then? Not that it would hurt Ace…
Bleh, I guess my bias with Mustang is too obvious, Flame > Flesh in the end afterall.
I might have to say Roy Mustang, since he can manipulate oxygen and could probably make Ace's fire useless…but yeah, I'm not exactly sure how his alchemy really works so whatever.
I LOVED this series. I like the manga more but the anime was good… they left out some of my favourite jokes though (come on, they left out the blue hair/NGE reference) and the ending was pretty stupid compared to the manga, but overall this has to be one of my favourite series ever. Great comedy and nice characters and drama... what more could you ask for? I'm glad I bought the show and the manga.
I wish I had a kick ass teacher like Onizuka :P
I stopped reading it when the Fanged dudes showed up. Frankly I'm astonished I read it for that long…
I loved Astro Boy and Black Jack (the anime). Pluto as well… although technically it's not Tezuka's. He certainly is one of the Gods of manga :)
With all the mindless random sex they have in Gantz it can't really be called gay anyways… :P
Ichi the Killer isn't the worst… but it's probably something I wish I never read. Some of the stuff in there can make you physically ill. Intriguing I guess, but really fucking sick.
Other than that I've never read something I think is awful, since I usually only read the first few volumes and if I don't like it by then, I don't continue.
Yikes, I'm glad I missed this one by sleeping in. Rubber knife? I have no hope now whatsoever for the rest. I shouldn't be surprised though…
I lost mine a days before I turned 16 with my first serious girlfriend. I haven't met anyone in my life who said they were going to wait and actually waited, and I think waiting is probably not the greatest idea. Not that I have a problem with people who want to wait until they finish school/whatever, but sex is a big part of a relationship (means a lot more than most people are willing to admit) and if you get married before testing the waters out, well… some people are just not sexually compatible.
Well Ippo has some horrific voices…
CCS is probably the worst thing ever done, and I'm not even a fan of it.
Maybe it's just me, but I liked the voice acting from the first season a lot more than the later ones. Goku's was retarded but it just got worse whenever they changed it, as did Gohan's. The censorship and scripts were atrocious, but I could stand the voices and I was able to sit through and watch it. Come on, who honestly didn't like Piccolo's voice? :P
But I still "liked" the Japanese version better, Goku's voice fit his personality in my opinion… the original DB is still my favourite. DBZ was really mindless and I won't even get into GT
Gungrave always kind of reminded me of Berserk in a way… so I have a soft spot for it. Like everyone else said, I thought the flashback was the best part, while the rest was still pretty good. And like Berserk the ending was less than satisfactory... at least Berserk had the manga :(
I agree it probably would be retarded to use them in recent chapter threads (what else other than spoilers would be there?), but if you're just posting in another anime/game/whatever thread or something and go off on a tangent it could be useful…
/shrug
Dr. Wily Stage 1 from MM2 was the best music theme from any of them for me. The next would be Flashman or Bubbleman… or maybe Topman.
hugs his Rockman 1~6 Family Computer Soundtracks cd
added a few new series recently…
-Pluto (I don't know how I fucking missed this one for so long... Naoki Urasawa + Astroboy? dies)
-Real
-Initial D
-Black Cat
_Originally posted by Ranier+May 2 2005, 02:39 PM–>QUOTE(Ranier @ May 2 2005, 02:39 PM)I found some toned down parts in the anime disappointing and the characters' seiyuu not suitable. But as I've said before, I'll wait before making further judgment.
The voices from the Jump Festa thing a while ago seemed a lot better, but I guess they were "special guest" famous seiyuu's doing it… I was so disappointed when I didn't hear Paku Romi-san during the first episode :(_
ES21 will be one of those mindless shonen anime. Fun to watch with a likable characters, but not much of anything else. I find the manga to be better than the first few episodes as well…
I also stay (far far) away from Clamp, so can't help you with TC. Though I've heard good things about the anime so far from a couple different people.

Priceless episodes of the Simpsons > Priceless episodes of Family Guy. Hands down, and I think that The Simpsons are one of the top 5 T.V. shows of all time.

I won't dispute this, but surely you can agree that Family Guy > Last few seasons of the Simpsons. The Simpsons are one of my alltime favourites like everyone else on this planet, but after like 15 seasons…yeah. I stopped watching after the 12th season I think.
Ralph quotes > * though
(Mash is the greatest TV show ever.)
Edit: apparently not everyone! :o
I thought this was one of the best Family Guy episodes, I'm glad they came back with a bang. I'm still not convinced that they can get the ratings for FOX to keep them long though… DVD sales vs TV Ratings are vastly different.
Good to have the cartoon back though, better than the Simpsons these days!
…Bleach. Much better characters.
Although depending on how the current arc progresses, I might not prefer either.
I loved the "bank" scene! And after hearing the new characters speak for more than one or two words, the voices are all good. Although I still feel slightly guilty enjoying it so much knowing what's going to happen. The jumping scene was really cool no matter what though.
The ending is kind of (very) boring animation wise, but I liked the song. Didn't really feel "One Piece-y" though. I love the new music they've added to the show, it really adds a lot of atmosphere to this huge arc that's different than the previous ones.
(PS, lol @ the big fountain around 12:34)
Does Invision Board have that option? I've only seen it on VBB's I think.
White coloured text might have to suffice
Edit: hur, apparently they do have it. Probably in the non-trial version.
The voices really were awful, at least they seemed that way after hearing the current voices for 100 episodes. I love Aoki's voice, but it does not fit Zoro's character AT ALL. Someone needs to tell Toei to stop using annoying kids for plot devices too. Seriously.
I wonder if I still have it or if I deleted it… kind of interested in watching it again.
My mass horde of video game music finally is of some use.
Can't wait to watch, but I think I'll wait for Saiyaman's. Ahg, getting giddy just waiting for it!

DO DO DO DOOOOOOOOO…. Snaaaake eater!. :P

That song made the game perfect for me
They got rid of eurobeat??!11 There go my reasons for watching…. :(
(:P)
Holy shit, old school
Argh, that's a tough one. Either 2 or 3, but it's almost impossible for me to choose. They had the best music I ever heard from the NES, great gameplay, plot, bosses and weapons. Old MM games are one of my favourite game series, too bad the newer ones are somewhat…
Kefka. There were a ton of great characters in FFVI, but he had to be one of the coolest villians in any Final Fantasy game. Oh, and yes, the laugh. Best ever.
My other favourite had to be Shadow or Locke. Just great characters.
I never played the remake, so I'm going with the SNES version.
I'd say yes as well. Although 37 is quite a few to buy, I always have a few original tanks of series I really like. Even if you don't know Japanese they are neat to own, plus you can just use stephen's awesome scripts to read it.
The new Road of Major single "Sinai Naru Anata e", these guys rock
The manga art really turned me off in the beginning as well, but so many people said it was awesome so I figured it was worth it to keep reading. They were right, so keep at it :)
I'd prefer not to have romance between the main characters in the story, I'm not against people who have pairings and things like that, but I'd rather the story focused on the adventures and the friendships. Although seeing Sanji try and try again is always funny, but that's where I'd like to see it stay.
I'd like to know what the whole "Pirate Summit" thing is about sometime, maybe get some more info on that from Oda (wishful thinking :P), and I'd like to see Shanks again. Whether it's meeting up with Luffy or just him and his crew for a chapter.
Wow, that was like some awful Thriller ripoff or something… but it was fucking awesome! The American commercials were enough for me to get it right away though :P
The grave thing was pretty retarded, why would they change it? Ah, why do I even ask about what they do… other than that it was a pretty good episode, wondering how they will handle things next episode.
I think Nojiko's voice is perfect. A nice surprise.

Either voltron, astroboy, bob in the bottle or samurai pizza cats

You just reminded me of Samurai Pizza Cats. It wasn't my first show, but I used to wake up at 5am just to watch that. I was so addicted to the awful english opening song
"That was the most disturbing dream I've had in years" and "When does the basketball game start?"
I hate dreaming. Blech, I need some form of caffeine

They've got some good songs. I have a CD of theirs that has a whole bunch of awesome songs on it, like "Neo Universe", "Stay Away", and "Driver's High". I think it's the 1998 greatest hits, or something to that extent. "Blurry Eyes" is another good one. In fact, I like almost all of the songs that are on that CD (if not all of them). Otherwise, that's about it. They've got good stuff, but I'm not that big of a fan of theirs. I listen to more Porno Graffitti I think, otherwise.

PG is a band I like a lot too, although they are going through a changing period at the moment because one of the members left, so their sound isn't as good as their older stuff in my opinion.
I'd have to go with Metal Gear Solid 1, then MGS3 (awesome storyline and gameplay). I despised the second one, Raiden or whatever his name was just ruined it for me. Did we really need to see him running around with no clothes on near the end? Ugh, the sad thing is the gameplay was really good. If the story was better and we got to play as Snake it would of been a 10/10 game for me.
Thank god for Lil Thomas Adams. I remember seeing the preview images for the new characters a few months back and I wanted to choke whoever had the idea. Just dress up Bugs Bunny in a dress again and stop being so fucking "PC" with cartoons.
Although it still sounds like they're going to change. I can only hope by "less menacing" they mean NOT CHANGING THEM AT ALL.
Yup I remember seeing that… it was very odd. The encode was from some HK VHS source and was awful so I could barely understand what was going on.
Well, I'm not a huge fan, but I can't wait for the new album either. Killing me is a great single and I can't wait for the FMA movie single. Their most recent album "Smile" was a good one too.
Couple of my favourite songs:
1. Driver's High (GTO :P)
2. Blurry Eyes
3. Ready Steady Go
4. Killing me
5. Hitomi no Jyunin
Very good band, although I usually prefer harder rock, like BoC or something

Yeah I agree, most of the time you're just kind of just looking at panels. Not even reading. But it still has a certain feel to it, and the way the story is it works for me. Not like I care that it only takes 10 minutes to go through a tank sometimes
@Apr 29 2005, 09:12 AM
For outside jump, Hiromu Arakawa, of Fullmetal Alchemist fame. In a word, BRILLIANT!_
I can't believe I forgot to mention her. I should be shot… her art is so unique and wonderful. She draws the best "SD" characters too

**I have never don't Shining Force 3 myself, only went up to No. 2, do you know where to get No. 3??But i have finished every Breath Of Fire series ever produced, including the latest No. 4. The graphics were very nice, and Ryu having the ability to change in Kaiser was cool, though Fou-Lu's dragon was even better
**
SF3 was for the Saturn, but I don't know if there are emulators or roms for that. I don't know much about emulating except for the Nintendo systems  And I did play the first 2 BoF's for SNES, not any of the others though. It was a while ago, but those were some good RPGs. So many great ones for the SNES.
Staying on topic, "Beware The Forest's Mushrooms" from the SNES Mario RPG is one of the coolest bgm's ever. Such good music…

Oda, Inoue and Fujishima. Can't ever get tired of looking at the manga panels of Urd, Peorth and Hild, especially in the more recent chapters. He doesn't quite draw his men as well as he does his women, but hey, we don't exactly watch/read it for the likes of Keichi Morisato, do we? :)

I kind of liked when Fujishima drew noses a bit more pronounced… maybe it's just me but the last few volumes it seems like he doesn't draw them anymore, when a character is facing you anyway.
nitpick+++ (The Goddesses are still nice to gawk at  )
I haven't seen a Japanese commercial that hasn't made me go "what the fuck?" to myself… totally, totally different cultures.
Am I the only one who doesn't like Pocky?
Inoue has a great style, and Vagabond is incredible in-particular… but my vote goes to (completely biased) Kentaro Miura who does Berserk. I can't imagine how long some of his chapters must take! :o
