    Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

    • RE: One Piece v49 HQ by Null

      Thanks a lot guys! I love your HQ releases. They are some of the best in the manga scanlation world, at least for those mangas I read which is probably not any good sample. 😉

    • RE: Chapter 455 "King of the Depths: The Shichibukai - Gekko Moria" Discussion

      @ChopChopCannon:

      Is it not spelled 'Gecko' Moria?

      Also, what do I do when I click the link? Do I save it or just open it?

      Sorry, I've never downloaded One Piece chapters before. I usually just read them online, but I'm going to make an exception for Moria-sama.

      I suggest you download it, but either should work. It comes as a zip archive, but any modern computer should be able to read the contents of it.

    • RE: How do you feel about the current arc?

      I like the current pace unlike the end of last arc. These chapters contain much more storyline and character development than drawn out battles. I know that One Piece is a shonen comic and therefore it is hardly surprising that the battles are drawn out. Personally I prefer the beginnings of most arcs to their ends.

      I also like the B-movie style setting, and the drawing of this arc.

    • RE: How will Brooke fight?

      @Generic_Soda:

      If that's true, shouldn't it melt his cup?

      No, generally acids don't react with ceramics and glass. Glass and ceramics reacts with very few substances. Still a cup of acid is a silly idea which doesn't fit Brooke's style at all.

      @King:

      So does anyone know what this panel in particular says?
      [qimg]http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/tednmike/panel.png[/qimg]

      EDIT: Lacking reading comperhension. Ignore this!

      Anyone who has read the spoiler thread does. The translation there is more complete. But the correctness of that translation might not be that good since ti is done without being able to see the images.

      @Fire Fist:

      The Elves WERE aliens, in a sense. they came from the lands of the Valar, across the sea. In fact, following the end of "Return of the King", most of them migrated back across the ocean. Frodo and Bilbo went with them.

      No, the elves were originally from Middle-earth (somewhere far to north-east if my memory serves me). In the early ages some of the elves crossed the sea to the lands of the Valar, while quite many (I think the majority) elves stayed behind in Middle-earth. Later some of the elves who had crossed (the Nolodor, including Galadriel) rebelled and moved back to Middle-earth. Also the orcs were supposedly originally elves.

      I believe most elves in Middle-Earth are Grey Elves, Sindarin, who have never crossed the ocean or have any ancestors who had.

      Legolas, Legolas father, Celeborn, Círdan (the guy who had the ring of fire before Gandalf) were all Sindarin from what I remember.

    • RE: Chapter 446 "Doctor Hogback" Discussion

      I haven't seen anyone yet suggesting that invisible man could be a werewolf. That would explain his human shape and the licking. I know invisible werewolf sounds a bit odd but why no combine your horror monsters?

      The fan service was quite good since it had a b-movie feel, unlike the Kalifa fan service which felt totally out of place.

      Awesome chapter overall. I'm not convinced that Hogback is evil despite almost all clues pointing towards it.

      EDIT: We have had skeletons, vampires, zombies, mad doctors, constructed monsters, ghosts – so obviously what we lack is werewolves.

    • RE: Chapter 445 "THE ZOMBIE" Discussion

      @bedrock:

      I think the opposite! Wasn´t it the main feature of the classical zombie movies that you got zombified when bitten by those cuties? I don´t think Oda will miss this one. Look at Nami and Ussop on the last page they both look not so well…

      It could be some neat strategy by Dr. Hogback to let his guests get attacked by zombies:
      "Oh, I´m sooo sorry! Of course I will help you with this horrible infection, you´re so lucky that I´m a world famous doctor ... well it might be neccesary to make some minor changes to your bodies, nothing major ..." (readies numbers 16 and 17 ...).👅

      Indeed it is a classical feature of zombie movies, but my point that they look far too much like undead built from bodies à la Frankenstein, but a bit more decomposed, to be infectious. So I would vote for a more technical type of reanimation instead of a magical disease. It would fit the mad doctor theme better. All fo the wierd creations have stitches, while zombies in movies usually don't have them.

      @Fire Fist:

      You can find similarities in many series between characters. My only problem is how immaturely some people handled my post. I didn't mean anything malicious by it. Those points were supposed to be looked at together, not broken down.

      The problem with your points was that most of them when broken down was nothing at all, and that you didn't explain any single one of them in detail. It was just a list of mostly vague similarities. Just should have given your points deeper thought before posting them and dropped some that were just nonsense. Breaking down peoples' arguments is a good way to check if they have any real points at all. Many bogus arguments look like real until broken down, and this trick has been used a lot in malicious ways.

      Not saying that your points aren't valid, just that the way you presented them showed nothing.

      On the other hand people were really rude in replying to you. Your post was on One Piece while several of the replies were attacks on your person.

    • RE: Chapter 445 "THE ZOMBIE" Discussion

      I don't think that those zombies carry a curse or disease that could spread to others. They have numbers and look like they are built by Doktor Hogback. All the stitches indicate that they are probably not that different from all the other weird creatures on the island.

      So no danger of zombification unless you are killed or captured and turned into one by whoever is building all the creatures.
