I think the issue is more of whether or not he's actively sucking things in or not. As in the chapter, Ace caught him off guard while being sucked toward Black Beard the second time (when he threw those two flame lances into him) and managed to score a hit on him. But later in the chapter when he Ace does his fire cross attack, he does it head on to Black Beard so Black Beard looks confident in absorbing his attack (he just smiles at Ace when Ace uses that attack head on). So my conclusion would be that Black Beard can absorb anything, it's just that he has to actively be absorbing for it to happen.

RE: The Straw Hat
I just remember Shanks wearing it in the many flashbacks to Rodger's ship, and it was probably long before Gol had been cornered and captured (I mean, if Shanks was near the Gol vs Garp fight, I don't think many bystanders of apprentice pirate level could survive). But then again, maybe Gol and crew raided a Straw Hat cargo ship and Straw Hats flowed like seawater.

RE: Dragon's ability
I would actually expect more of a brawling, physical combat type character. I mean, he's Garp's son. Unless of course physical ability is just one of those things that skips a generation. At any rate, no matter what it ends up being, I can tell that it will be nothing short of amazing.

RE: Zoro's Sensei?
I am more inclined to say that Zoro's sensei is skilled rather than strong. His technique is obviously far greater than your average swordsman, but whether or not he has strength or speed is another story. However, in the world of One Piece, that might be all you need to get by as a really strong person.
After all, nowadays we see Zoro get by primarly on Strength and Technique rather than speed. While faster characters (such as Luffy and Sanji) are often plucking CP9'ers out of Soru, Zoro tends to use his sword techniques to block and attack. After all, when he defeated Kaku they both basically unleashed both their most powerful attacks directly at each other.
Just food for thought I suppose.

RE: Best Upgrade, Worst Upgrade?
@Ao:
Since everyone is reaching the next level in skill, who's upgrade you like and who'd do you not like(or like the least)?
Here's how I see things:Luffy: In the beginning I didn't like the 'firing air bullets' gear thing. But after reading about it and seeing Gear 3 I loved it! In the beginning it just seemed like Oda-sensei finally ran out of ideas and decided to give Luffy generic shounen-style fire balls. But after seeing it's just that Luffy is taking advantage of his rubber body in other ways besides stretching, I thought it was hella creative and clever. I wish he'd used the heat for something besides fireballs but still..I like it!
He shoots a projectile? I thought he was just using Soru-type speed to attack and the Jet effect came from the extra air he was pushing out of his body to maintain tensile strength. The air wasn't hurting anyone - his superfast fist was. Right?

RE: Rankyaku for sanji
Remember, Ryankyaku is just kicking fast enough so that you make air cuts (like Zoro or T-bone), and Sanji already likely to have been fast enough already to perform such a manuver, but probably already knows an inherant weakness about it. Or already has something awesome that encorperates it.
As far as Soru is concerned, he's already fast enough to have surprised Kalifa (remember, she was all like "So Fast!" when they were fighting), so it's already very, very possible he already has that kind of capability.
For Geppou, I wouldn't count on it, Sanji doesn't look like the type to have that level of finese since most of his current combat skills involve violently kicking someone somewhere. His current jump height is, well, ridiculously high already anyway.
And yeah, I still think there's more to the "Red Leg" nickname that just bloodying up his opponents. There has to be some kind of special move that earned Zeff that name. "Akai Ashi no Shiken Ougi" anyone?

RE: Future bounties
Luffy - This one is pretty cut and dry. The leader of a team of pirates who destroys a large government facility (the main jail, no less). No doubt he'll doubt his bounty will at least hit 250,000,000, if not more. In my opinion, he'll hit 300,000,000 because it would give the Shichikubachi and Black Beard even more incentive to make the Strawhats their enemy. Also it would be a nice plot device for Luffy and co. to meet Shanks or Whitebeard.
Usopp - In my opinion, Usopp's bounty is probably going to skyrocket higher than any of the Strawhats, minus Luffy. Reason being, he's the one who shot the flag and officially declared war on the world government. Furthermore, if Usopp does end up defeating Spandam, he'll also have basically assassinated the leader of a top secret government assassination group. Even if he's not a particularly strong target, he's an extreme tactical target to the government, as they would LOVE to see his head on a platter even for just making an example. Furthermore, it would give him a reason to return to the crew and prove that he important.
Franky - I can see Franky getting around 90,000,000. To be honest, it puts him under the same catagory as Robin, both of whom have bounties not only for their strength but for their tactical purposes. Franky is probably still suspected of having ancient weapon prints, so I say the govenment would put a Robin-style bounty on him for that reason.
Everyone else I have no real comment. I'd say Sanji and Zoro would both hit around the 120-150 million mark. I honestly don't believe Chopper and Nami will recieve bounties unless they both do something really influential soon. Chopper's victory was in monster form, so the government wouldn't really set a bounty on him because it would seem to be kinda out there (I mean, most monsters don't appear an disappear within a matter of minutes). Nami hasn't really been seen all together that much, so I don't think she will get a bounty either.

RE: Zoro's new…stuff
On the topic of Sanji, I always figured he could already perform CP9's leg style manuevers. After all, he's already fast enough to surprise a CP9 member, so he already has Soru like speed without only being able to use just Soru. More evidence for his ability to use Soru like movement is in the fight on the train, when he is casually able to kick someone midair 8 times (Luffy's observation is that it takes around 10 times for a Soru).
As far as Ryankyaku is concerned, it's supposadly like a really fast kick that acts like a slash, so Sanji and no doubt Zeff already came across such a technique and turned it down for some reason. It's still not really revealed why Zeff is called The Red Leg, because none of Sanji's moves have shown anything that could cause that.
On a really steriotypical Shonen manga note, Sanji could have some sort of secret technique (Akai Ashi Shinken Ougi anyone?) that Zeff handed down to him that we don't even know about yet. Like something that causes massive internal injury or something that would actually give Zeff and perhaps Sanji the title of Red Leg.

RE: Chopper and Rumbleballs
I figure it was 3 minutes too. But the implication there is that he jumped down from the tower and destroyed a whole village in 3 minutes. Quite a feat if you ask me. So I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it were longer.

RE: Usopp, what would he do?
I don't get it, I mean, everyone seems to be underating Spandam. He's the director of a top secret assassination group. On steriotypes alone, he should be an extremely capable individual in terms of intelligence and tactics. It's just that Oda has painted him as bumbling so far to conceal what may be a super huge plot twist. After all, Usopp isn't necessarily shown as the most competent individual all the time (I mean, look at the cuff incident), but we all know that deep down he's very determined and he's got great fortitude. Who knows it's not the same for Spandam?
So basically, what I'm saying is, it doesn't matter who will fight Spandam, either way it will be a great fight because he'll probably be a major badass and we don't just know it yet.
