@Huon, your pictures aren't working.
None of them? Hmm, I'm just copying url's, but they're all from the same site, so maybe there's a problem on their end. I'll try saving them and re-uploading. Thanks for the heads up :).
edit: Done. Do they work now?

Here it is.

RE: Luffy vs Garp
Lol, Garp is leading? Good thing I voted for Luffy then. :P
I mean, Garp sure is cool, but Luffy is Luffy! Who cares about the fact that he has won the tournament before or that it's boring for the main character to win; to be honest I'm surprised that he hasn't won every tournament so far (and even if that would have been the case, then I'd still vote for him here).–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Go Luffy!

RE: Blackbeard vs Magellan
Magellan all the way, He's a great guy!
Blackbeard, on the other hand, was only cool in Jaya; after that we learned that he's actually an ass.

RE: First Round Discussion Thread
The worst "misspelling" (or rather just a complete screw up instead of a simple misspelling) ever has got to be Dachshund Binami :P.
As for the upcoming match: Go Magellan! :D

RE: First Round Discussion Thread
So, here's something I've been wondering while reading through the latest match: why are characters who have previously won tournaments not excluded from participating the next one? I mean, obviously people aren't into the idea of a character winning twice, so putting previous winners on probation for a year or two seems like the best way to resolve the issue. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
Well, Robin still seems to be getting quite a lot of votes, so my guess is that the people who aren't into the idea of a character winning twice are a minority (albeit a more vocal one).

"'Those aren't my ships?!' That's something that you can't say! It doesn't matter what kind of ship you build, it's not good or evil! I don't care what kind of ships you've built up until now; it doesn't matter who a ship that you built hurt or even if it destroys the world, their father must love them! Their creator can't deny them! Don't blame the ship! A man must be proud of the ships he builds with a DON!"

Just go here and read the next 20 or so pages: http://www.mangareader.net/103-2463-13/one-piece/chapter-356.html (or just skim through them if you don't wanna bother reading all that, even that should make you remember Tom's epicness).

RE: X. Drake vs Awesome Octopus Fishman
a random char is better than a plain 'OMG he's soooo cool!' kind of char like drake, at least to me. hell, i prefer those animal zombies in your sig than drake. not just drake, i also dislike law, mihawk, and other plain 'cool' guy (yes i got a weird and bad taste).
Yeah, I guess that's another way to look at it, too. But it's probably not how most of the AOFSNTJ-voters see it, though.
I thought the whole point of the tournament was a joke; sort of.
Haha, yeah, true. But, you know, that's kind of a different kind of joke :P
Yeah. It's not even like I don't know how you're feeling. I used to be just like you and many others in my first years here. The tournament was all about seriously supporting those characters that had something going for them in the manga to me, and I absolutely hated it when upsets like this happened. It felt like something was wrong with the place and the people here. There was a time when I even made a few angry rants on the subject and got some flak for it from people saying how simply having fun is what they take away from this and that I shouldn't take it so seriously. God knows I got really pissed and thought they were all lunatics, lol.
But then I grew as a member of the community and started realising that the manga factor was not all there was. It was not the only thing that was REAL. What's fun about this event is not only that you can support your favourite characters all the way to the top and live the awesome emotions you get out of seeing them claim the well-deserved victory after a hard-fought struggle. It is, for the most part, the social aspect of all this - banding together with other people and doing things for the sake of actually having fun with them. Posting and watching awesome pictures and videos and all that is really cool, but it's at least half as enjoyable when you have someone on your side to share it all with. And all that is worth a lot. It is truly valuable. It makes you feel like you're a part of something bigger, and that my friend is a great feeling.
This match isn't about some people winning and some people losing. It's way more than that.
Haha, ok, you have convinced me to see this differently. Thanks for putting it this way! :D
-
RE: X. Drake vs Awesome Octopus Fishman
This match is a joke, really. Drake has never been really popular around these parts which explains this result. New bandwagons arise every year, but only when a certain weird underdog-ish character faces against and wins someone who everyone thought would have an easy time. It generally doesn't work if your character goes against someone like Enel who has a more populous fanbase.
Also, it's not even like I or the vast majority of AOFSNTJ voters hate or dislike Drake. We just think a good joke is what makes the tournament worth remembering and participating in.
Well, I guess that makes me feel slightly better about this at least ^^
-
RE: X. Drake vs Awesome Octopus Fishman
Ok, I have now officially lost my faith in humanity. I guess this tournament really is a joke…
(I don't wanna sound like fun-hating, boring jerk or something, but… come on, people! wtf!)

RE: X. Drake vs Awesome Octopus Fishman
I was gonna vote for Awesome Octosquid, but then I saw that Drake might actually lose, lol :P.
So, yeah, Go Drake!

400 years ago, the seeds to a budding friendship were planted. Through nourishment, that is, with love and caring, with laughter, tears, hardships, trials, and smiles, it grew. It grew into a beautiful flower. 400 years ago, the friendship between a simple botanist and a tribal man grew, and every second these two spent together, this flower grew bigger and bigger. The two men had to go their separate ways, but promised to meet once again one day. The plant did not die or wilt. It only grew bigger and bigger. But one man was sent to the sky–unable to reach his friend ever again. The golden bell was lost. The words 'WE ARE HERE' would never reach their ears for hundreds of years, long after their deaths, no matter how hard they tried.! >!
! >!
The two men did not stop. The man flung up into the sky still sought the golden bell, and would die looking for it. This man's friendship caused a war up in the sky. So much bloodshed for the bell, just to speak to his friend once more, to assure him of their safety. But as this war was going on, the man on land was being executed for his truths. He worried for his dear friend, not knowing where he was, facing crowds of people who wanted him dead. He did not deny the existence of his friend, did not lie too save his own life. His friend did exist, the island of gold was there somewhere. But it was gone, and so was his friend. They would never meet again. The friendship of these two caused a long standing war between two peoples, and shame upon the truth-teller's family. The flower wilted.! >!
! >!
! >!
The flower did not die. It simply hid itself in the heart's of those who knew. 400 years later that flower finally bloomed, it's petals shining as bright as gold. 400 years later, this friendship overcame time. It overcame death. This friendship overcame war and hate and screamed itself through the ringing of the bell–'WE ARE HERE'--the bell rang once more for these two. The friendship lasted longer then death itself, reached the hearts, the willing ears of the descendants of the two friends. The friendship of the two men sustained itself through pure love. The bell--'WE ARE HERE'--stopped the war, stopped the hate, made itself louder than any other voice screaming lies and malice--'WE ARE HERE'--the bell rang, made itself known to those far below, and those nearer. The bell rang--'WE ARE HERE'--to announce that the friendship of these two men did not die. It continued to live, through the horror, the lies, the tears, and burst through with the beauty of love. 'WE ARE HERE'--the tribal man finally reached the ears of the sailor once more, after 400 hundred years of waiting.Again, credit to Sai-chan!
How can you not love that story? To me, Noland is seriously one of the coolest characters in One Piece!

RE: Zoro vs Norland
Hey, folks, don't you guys remember how incredibly badass, touching and just generally awesome that story about Noland was?
It's a story about friendship. True, undeniable friendship between two men who were from different worlds. One man saved the other's village, and earned the respect of the tribe. They bonded, went through hardships, and understood each other better than anyone. They vowed to see each other again. They waited, and waited. For years they waited.
And yet one man was shot up into the air, onto an island in the sky that no one knew existed, and the bell–the only possible way to communicate with his friend from such a distance now--the bell that signified that 'WE ARE HERE'--was lost.
The other man was put on trial for refusing to deny the existence of his friend and the island he found. He was confused, horrified, and worried--not for his own life, but the life of his friend. Even as he was on trial, crowds of people screaming 'LIAR! LIAR!' at his face--the only thing he could think about was where his precious friend was, and if he was alright. He was executed for his undying friendship.
That friendship surpassed time. Hundreds of years passed, and that friendship still existed. The descendents of those two were alive and well, and were working for and against their old relatives. One was fighting to see if the man who 'disgraced' his family name was truly a liar, and the other wanted to ring the bell for his ancestor's lost friend--'WE ARE HERE.'
It took hundreds of years. It took a war, and maniac, and a small pirate crew. But eventually that bell did ring. The two friends did hear the bell, and the decsendents were able to listen, and understand that 'WE ARE HERE.'
_Credit goes to Sai-chan for writing this, I just copied it ^^
