Got all the characters yesterday thanks to the reset trick. Here are some thoughts on the game so far.

1. It looks and plays beautifully. I haven't done online yet, but with CPUs, this game runs crisp and clean both docked and handheld.
2. I love the depth of customization with the rules and FINALLY being able to have preset shit. About time.
3. The option to have a final smash charge up bar was a great idea, though I am glad it is optional nad the old ball remains.
4. A LOT of the characters feel samey. I mean, how many have a down-b counter? 10? That's a little ridiculous.
5. Likewise, A LOT of the final smashes are too similar. How many variations on Ike' Great Aether is there? You can tell that since they added all the previous characters, that they reused a lot of shit in the past with the previous games.

Either way, it's Super Smash Bros, it looks great, plays great and sounds great. Though it does feel much like an "expansion pack" to Smash Wii U. Though it is probably the best expansion pack ever created.

Good to see this, Japan seems to be taking the scanlations very seriously now. They either had to be a viable legal way, like crunchyroll, or put up with it. Glad to see they are doing the latter.

Got most of the characters now thanks to the reset trick. Has been a fun game, looks real damn pretty.

The game was on the list for game of the year last year within the same game awards. It's very much not even in the category of obscurity of Shulk.

Guess it was just me then! I haven't paid any attention to the Persona games, so it flew under my radar.

Obsucre probably wasn't the right word, but like Shulk from the last game, he fits that role of "Japanese character that a sizable chunk of video game players in the west don't know about"

I'd love to see 2B in the series, but I reckon the last 4 will be the following.

1. Some old throwback character from the NES era.
2. A fire emblem character from the upcoming three houses game.
3. Either another pokemon or third party character from Square Enix or a western company.
4. Waluigi.

Hard to believe he's on the final arc. To think it's been over 10 years since he started this…damn that's something.

I think this was the worst kept secret like…ever...but I kinda wish it had been kept from being official until the movie came out. I mean it's already on track to probably be the best Dragon Ball movie ever.

Went diving for legendary Lucina, and ended up nabbing bikini Cordelia. With 30 orbs left, I'm gonna count my blessings and take what I got.

Great haul though, I love how this game is friendly to free to play people.

I also nabbed flying Ryoma on a first pull….so that's 3 five stars including the legendary hero in about 20 orbs. Still got 40 left...should i push my luck?

I think it's more tasteful and would look better for sure if they added SOME kind of texture, pattern, or hell even shading to the solid black coloring of the legs.

I saw it in a better resolution, and it looks far better, but I still think that outfit is rather tame for some stuff. But I guess they gotta play nice with Nintendo.

But it's not even a fucking playable character…but eh...we gotta pick our battles I suppose.

Interesting development with Shirlew and the invis fruit. Love that the nine-tailed fox fruit, always considered sexy, ended up with that hag. Great move Oda. Blackbeard finally looks like he how should have been.

Seems we'll be getting tidbits dropped as the story moves throughout the act. Not a bad idea.

Kaido beating Luffy is whatever, I like the fact that the this arc has "acts" which helps it stand apart.

Having Kid show up is going to be cool, looking forward to seeing him play off the cast.

The Robin Face fault was the best part of the chapter, and I am glad Oda is showing how much Robin is being affected by being around the Straw Hats so much.

Nobody is calling for the old episodes that featured Apu to be pulled from circulation and nobody is asking for those episodes to be edited in any way.

Simpsons is unique in that it's one of the only media properties I can think of that's had a basically uninterrupted run for ~30 years in its original format. Most TV shows, movies, games, comics etc have new iterations, or major status quo shifts etc that give the creatives freedom to update stuff that's out of date.

How DO you handle something like this?

In other mediums that have taken breaks between iterations, they've either updated the problematic thing, or just removed it.

Simpsons hasn't had that luxury because it's never been rebooted, retooled, or redone.

If something is genuinely hurtful and problematic, even if it's not intended, is it fine to just keep doing it because "It's been like that for 30 years"?!

Again, your absolutely right, we should talk about that, it's reasonable to talk about things like that.

It's just too often it is not presented as genuine, and more as a cynical attempt to virtue signal to people who already agree with it.

The Apu documentary was great because the guy clearly put in the effort and actually talked to people who would be directly affected by that character's influence and 30-year long presence in pop culture. It's just a shame that 95% of other videos or essays are made by straight white people who are only doing it to drum up outrage for clicks or a gold star from their like-minded colleagues.

Though calling it "The problem with Apu" is probably way too aggressive and makes it feel we are sitting down to get lectured, maybe should have named it. "My relationship with Apu" or something more neutral

I love how upset people are and how much they're pushing back against this, when the dude who made the original documentary insisted multiple times that he Loves the Simpsons and still loves it.

People need to start getting that folks critique things from a non-white, non-male, non-straight, and/or non-cis lens, it isn't the same as saying "THIS ONE THING IS POSSIBLY PROBLEMATIC, SO THE WHOLE THING IS BIGOTTED AND IF YOU LIKE IT YOU ARE TOO!"

We can criticize parts of things we like and look at them through different lenses without that meaning that the whole thing is bad.

Metal Gear Solid V is an amazing game. 9, maybe 9.5/10 game. Excellent awesome game. Quiet's character design and the in-story justification for it is hot garbage.

You're absolutely right, there needs to be more of an understanding that criticizing one piece of something is not a condemnation of the entire product, and answering that idea with harassment and bullying doesn't help anyone.

However, there also needs to be an understanding that sometimes these thing that we love are products of their time and expecting everything to line up with a person's personal politics right NOW is next to impossible.

And Quiet's design was stupid as all hell, and Kojima should have just owned up to it just being "I love tiddies"

The last chapter didn't feel rushed.

This one sure as hell did.

I love Kaido's design, seems the perfect mix between villain and dragon.

I wish Nami and Robin did more, but they are still portrayed better than the Fairy Tail girls even if the girls get their hands dirty more often.

But at least Oda didn't make Nami and Robin walking fanservice models.

Don't know what One Piece you are reading man, but Nami and Robin (granted more pre timeskip) were some of the best shonen female around. They actually did stuff.

If I cared about the portrayal of women in this series (I gave that up once Lucy became unable to keep her top on for more than 2 minutes) I'd be pissed about Ezra right now.

Goblin Slayer interests me and I wasn't turned off by the, admittedly eyebrow-raising first episode.

My Sister My Writer makes me feel we are all gonna be apologizing to Eromanga-sensei by the time the years out.

Golden Kamuy is still genius.

Bunny Girl Senpai I think is gonna be my "feels" show this time around, it's been really solid so far.

Slime looks like it's gonna be guilty fun, loving it as well.

Double Decker is solid and it's great to have that Tiger and Bunny feel back once again.

Uzamaid, Jeanne'd arc, and Conception have had solid first episodes and I'm interested to see how long they'll keep my attention.

So It's Soma vs Evil Soma, Insane Clown Posse, The Easter Bunny, Bill the Butcher, and Food Nazis?

Also did it feel like we jumped to Blue a little too fast?
