Man, THAT episode is soooo close.
I hear next week there is no episode?

My interpretation of DFs is this.
Humans "desire" certain powers, and thus the scientists of that era try to bring them to fruition. It's less magic, and still more science.
All is right with the world now that this is back
Wow, 10/10 episode. Amazing action and animation. Did not feel like much filler either. Just straight fire from beginning to end.
Happy to see this place back. And I don't know what you did, but the site is finally loading fast for like the first time in many years.
The real conclusion is that One Piece's anime has really hampered the global appeal of it. If it was seasonal, the arcs would be condensed, the material would blow people away, and you would get seasonal hype cycles to help feed into the manga sales.
We're already getting crucial info from Vivre Cards.
Meh, the info is super minor in the grand scheme of things. But seeing Shanks fully powered fighting style in a movie before the manga seems like a bridge too far. You also need to manage a movie where Luffy/Shanks don't actually meet in the movie because you know, that reunion has to be saved for the manga first
Loved it. Been following OP for over 15 years (think I also joined APForums back then), and so this was pure nostalgia fest. Something about the anime just hits harder than when I saw this scene in the manga. Here's to many more years to this epic.
Damn, Oda is going to piss off a lot of people if the movie reveals a ton of Shanks info/lore because it won't have happened in the manga yet.
But who cares, I am hype! Let'sssss goooo
Kind of meh and stretched out episode, but I was mostly watched just for the 1000 preview. Got some glimpses of the top tier animation, but can't wait to see the anime really flex and show off all the SHs.
Amazing episode. They definitely elevated the material they adapted. Super hype. Raid is finally on!
They’re keeping it very slow so they can save a specific scene for episode 1000.
Which scene do you think it is?
Man, another dragged out episode. The pace of the these last few episodes feels veerrry slow. I'm hoping there's a payoff for this once the actual fights start.
Biggest problem with this scene is that Zoro shouldn't even be aware that he has it, let alone having control over it.
Yeah, it kind of changes the whole sequence where he does use it later…
All they had to do this episode was add a line from Zoro like "huh?", and we could connect the dots that he is subconsciously using it like the first few times Luffy did
I'm not sure how I feel about the anime "spoiling" the Zoro CoC just yet. I think the moment would have a bigger umph if done at the moment the manga did it, but oh wells, the cats out of the bag now.
Also Yamato confirmed as the hidden shadow behind Robin, so that's no longer a mystery for us
Oh man, a GOAT tier episode. This took the manga chapter and elevated 100x. Anime only watchers are truly lucky to experience Onigashima for the first time through the anime
Y'know, after Hirata put out that video a while back in which he complained about, among other things, how Zoro had a cool Wano eyecatch and Sanji didn't I wonder how salty he is that his character finally gets one and Zoro still looks cooler in it at Sanji's expense lol
Don't really think Zoro looks cooler. Sanji out here perving, and Zoro being a buzz kill.
Episode was decent, but the preview alone has me more hyped. Looks amazing.
Can't believe we're finally here…anime only people are going to lose their heads over some of the hype shit we're about to see.
The prominent animators were almost entirely freelancers such as the semi-regular Takashi Kojima, Kazunori Ozawa (up there with Jun Arai and Shu Sugita as an out-of-left-fielder as far as One Piece goes), the western talent like vercreek and our very own Jakisuaki, or part of an outsourcing studio, in this case Henry Thurlow's D'ART Shtajio. There were a good number of Chinese animators participating as well, likely brought on by Tu himself, so many that they got their own section on the key animator list all to themselves.
They all deserve a medal for this episode. So amazingly animated.
That was some movie level animation for sequences of the fight. If we get something like that for the Onigashima raid…oh man, those are going to be some glorious episodes.
I don't think I'm read to see the next episode animated
Anyone know the name of the OST as Roger is disembarking the ship?
As a manga reader, this episode probably doesn't hit as hard since it's mostly just HYPE information. Not really a lot you can do with the material, imo. I'd be interested to see what anime only's think.
I almost wish we could see a top 3 minus Luffy/Sanji/Zoro, who normally take up the first 3 slots most of the time.
I want to see the other SHs, Law, Ace, and which other side characters have a strong following still.
We're aware of the problem and trying to fix it.
I don't personally know why it's gotten worse but I've definitely noticed it.
Is there anything we can do to help? Is it a money thing? Coding?
This seems like it has gotten real bad in the last year. It noticeably takes me 5-10 seconds to load pages in this forum these days. It makes for a pretty awful browsing experience. This wasn't the case before, but now it's common every time I visit the site. It's not my connection, and my internet is pretty fast and all other sites load fine.
Does anyone else have this problem? Do we need to put some turbo jets on the APForum servers to get some faster load times?
That felt movie quality. Amazing episode. One of those I archive and come back to. Sooooo amazing.
lol, Toei just gave Sanji a win against Drake without the Raid suit? They really gassing the Strawhats up in the anime (love it!).
Just came to mind…but did we ever find out who the mysterious figure was that was following Robin/Jinbe at the beginning of the Onigashima raid? As the time, people were speculating Yamato, but I think we can exclude her now.
So what are the other prevailing theories?
Decent episode. Beginning felt a bit stretched out with the Luffy capture scene. I'm surprised Funi went so same with the bathhouse scene. They usually really love milking those scenes with as much fan service as possible, but maybe they will save that for next week, haha
I know it doesn't make sense in terms of power scale, but a Sanji vs. King fight would be epic dual in the skies.
Loved the animation of the fight and the expansion of it. The last kick was just beautiful too.
Got some neat confirmations on the fight too. Page One was not KO'd, which confirms he's pretty damn strong, and that is a good sign because we need some tough competition on Kaido's side aside from him and his commanders. I'm also glad they didn't taint this episode like the chapter was tainted by you know what. Pretty much all Soba Mask!
Kanjuro explaining why the scabbards are idiots for never suspecting one of them earlier definitely exposed how idiotic they are. How many signals do they need that there is a traitor for them to root one out? Denjiro was the only smart one to tell Hiyori to keep secrets, even from the allies
It's Naotoshi Shida. Indeed the same person.
Shida doing 925? I'm even more hype now.
Well animated episode today to stretch out the content. Hope we get some true justice for Sanji next episode. Been waiting for it since the manga chapter dropped. They better give us more than what we go in the manga too
People rag on the non-top tier BM pirates joining, but think of it like when Luffy brings anyone below the monster trio. Not everyone is a powerhouse, but they all bring a skill set that makes them dangerous as a whole.
On another note, this episode was fantastic! Did not feel dragged along at all, and we're getting closer and closer to Sanji's moment. I hope they go all out for it
Something seems eerily off with how much Toki is smiling throughout all this. I really hope Oda drops some surprise about why she has that demeanor (does she know something about the future?). Just does not seem like the reaction I would expect a concerned parent/wife to have.
Cannot wait for Soba Mask. It's almost here. ANIME, please don't screw this up.
Hmmm, real curious what could've convinced Oden to act like a fool for 5 years. The only slight clue was Oden mentioning something about Kaido's ships when Orochi comes to Kuri to build weapons factories….but I just can't quite figure out if Oda is playing on Oden being naive and trusting Orochi to some deal or if Orochi threatened Oden in some major way that Oden knew he could not win without major casualties. I guess Shinobu knows the details, and it would be real dumb if she has held onto that info this entire time without telling the others. It would make more sense IF she told them the truth and they pretended to play along with Oden, similar to how Cocoyashi Village played ignorant to Nami as well.
I like how the end of this chap parallels the walk that the Nine Scabbards did before the flashback started. Feels like the incoming fight is going to be epic
Not a bad episode. I know they stretched it out, but I did not feel it at all. They really have a lot of stuff to work with in Act 2 to make the fill in many of the skipped parts. The anime should be able to hit a good stride here
Really nice episode. They covered a full chapter for once, so no stretched out filler. Great art. Next episode preview looks awesome, and I cannot wait to get to Act 2!
Sanji and Zoro's ceilings far exceed Jinbe who has already peaked. If there isn't a clear trio yet,we will by the end of the series
Any threads or discussions about MS/JB dropping Shonen jump series? It is Big news! Viz is also taking down chapters links on Reddit.
Doesn't look like it, but it should not affect our official discussions too much. Looks like we'll just have a longer time between spoilers and the actual chapter now.
The music when Luffy first punches Kaido was fireeeee. Is it the first time they've used it in the anime?
So I think the way this flashback will go is Oden will get to see all the marvels of the outside world and he'll want to open up that gift to the rest of Wano. This will be the motivation for him to open up the borders.
There's also an outside shot that Toki reveals some hard truths about the void century, Wano's role in it, and some other things about "the dawn", and that will act as motivation too.
Transformation was hot, but I'm not sure if it had the same umph that the manga panel had. There was no transformation before it, so you had no idea what was coming. Jack and Shutenmaru are clashing and suddenly a giant fucking dragon appears and Law is like "that's Kaido!!!!", meanwhile every character within a parsec is sweating at his entrance.
Denjiro to Oden: "I guess it's just in your nature to attract others…"
well, it's same as Luffy. No wonder Shirohige & Roger admire him.
Oden & His Vassal feels as SHP v2
You could almost view Oden's story as a what if Luffy died, and the Strawhats wanted to get revenge on X person.
Next week will be fire and looks like they might be expanding some fights a little too. This week's was surprisingly enjoyable for how little was covered. Anime doing a good job expanding on the parts skipped by Oda so it doesn't feel like filler
Best chapter of the flashback. I really am starting to like the scabbards more and seeing more of their family dynamic. They are basically another variation of the Strawhat crew. Makes the whole situation with Yasuie even better, and shows why he was so respected. Spread of the squad rolling up to the capital was also on point. It's going to REALLY hurt if one of these people end up being the traitor cause nothing in this flashback has made any of them look suspect. If anything, you feel it's even less likely now with how hard they worked to represent themselves as honorable for Oden.
And yeah, the last few pages are obviously hype. I'm super curious to see how the relationship develops, why Izo decided to go/stay with Whitebeard, and how/when Oden meets with Toki. It has to happen soon since Momo needs to be born in 2 years, which means he has to meet Toki and get jiggy with it with her in about a year.
By "final chapter" of One piece, do they mean literal chapter or figurative like final saga?
