RE: Jump Festa 2017 (December 17-18)
@Count:
Eh, it really depends. Since it's extremely unlikely for the Straw Hats to be present (like it should be, since these established supporting characters representing the Straw Hats' heroic influence would be beautiful storytelling and worldbuilding), this "arc" might last ten chapters or even less. It all depends.
But yeah, that doesn't help how I'm slightly concerned with Totland's length myself lol.
The big question is how long the Reverie arc will be. Could it be 15 chapters? Or might it only be 7 or 8 chapters and peaceful and just have some worldbuilding and maybe hints at what the WG plans? For all we know, WCI could last another 20 chapters, Reverie is 15 chapters, then Wano starts in the final few weeks of 2017.
When it comes to WCI, 20-25 chapters is a TON of time. And, if we're being honest, there aren't all that many moving parts. It's not like Dressrosa where there was so much stuff going on where it took time deal with it all. I feel like we're getting close to the climax of WCI, yet at the same time I feel like something could happen that could derail the current situation for several chapters. The only real big question mark I can think of is Jinbe's situation, but it's not a giant subplot like the Dwarves' rescue, at least from what we've seen. However, i am still worried.
I'm just hoping BM is actually dealt with and it isn't just "okay, we made it out alive, we'll deal with her later" and something like Jinbei joined as the payoff for this arc. I really do hope 2017 will be successful for the series.

So if Oda plans to fit the Reverie arc as well, then WCI can't last too much longer.
Jeez, things are really speeding up. You have to really question if the ending of this arc will be satisfying enough.

RE: One Piece digital-colored chapters by Shueisha v2
Should we expect another year before getting more volumes colored? Is Shueisha deliberately trying to keep the colored volumes a certain distance behind the regular volumes?

RE: A Study of One Piece Animation
I still don't understand how they could let the manga catch up so close to the anime. The fact is the pacing is by far the biggest issue, but the production values still aren't great. I agree 100% with the reasoning hat there should be more pure filler content. Remember those random Boss Luffy episodes? Why hadn't Toei slipped a mini random filler arc into Dressrosa? I think the biggest failure of the post-TS content is the refusal to do any real filler content. IF they do filler content, that means they could spend more time and their higher quality people on the canon stuff, while allowing the buffer between the anime and manga to grow, while still keeping fans entertained rather than doing something like reruns.
What's so frustrating is that One Piece is the most popular manga in Japan. The anime is incredibly popular as well. Film Gold will no doubt make an absolute ton of money. Yet it seems like they the budget is always a problem. You can talk about all of these other long running series, yet none of them have remotely close to the success One Piece has, yet One Piece isn't a cut above the rest like you think it would be.
Some may think it's "not that bad", but it's very hard to argue that post-timeskip, where pretty much the entirety of the complaining has been based on, hasn't been handled horribly by Toei. For a series that makes so much, for the anime that series is based off of that makes so much, the production values just don't seem to be there. It's been so long since I can remember a single episode that through its entirety had really good art and animation. There may be individual moments or maybe several minutes of really great production value, but then in another part of the episode it's quite atrocious in one way or another. I just can't wrap my head around how the most successful manga of all time and one of the most successful anime currently running right now can't seem to afford the budget to have a consistently good episode from start to finish. It may not be "that bad", but there's no question a frustration of inconsistency in art, animation, and pacing.

RE: 739: ''The Strongest Creature - Kaido of the Animals''
@Long:
Thats not that bad of a robin for dressarosa, seriously at least her face isnt completely elfish, i can take off a few off model as in different style shots as long as the characters dont look like aliens
What bothered me so much about that was that it wasn't like it was a background still shot, it was a foreground character doing actual movement and they look like fanart. That stuff happens all the time for still background characters where you have to actually look for the awful art, but this was too much imo. It just frustrates me how low the production value for this series has become. I get they had to put a lot of the budget for the Kaido reveal, but this was absolutely awful imo.

RE: 739: ''The Strongest Creature - Kaido of the Animals''
I gotta say the art of the characters in the very beginning of the episode at Kyros' house looked absolutely atrocious in places.
The ending was handled very well, very nice art for Kaidou and the animation looked pretty good overall.
EDIT: Screen cap of it. Like this looks amateurish as hell.

RE: Oricon Manga sales
One Piece and SnK are significantly down over some of their past volumes. Not sure if earthquake related or something else, but it's rather alarming.
Kingdom had an almost exact repeat of its volume 41 performance in I believe the same number of days, which is rather disappointing when you factor in how much Shueisha has pushed the live action short thingy.

RE: 733: "Strike Heaven - Luffy's Furious King Kong Gun''
Interesting that the anime added a few extra bits that you wish were canon, like Luffy blowing into his arm to reactivate G4 and DD holding his gut and making a grin, implying he fully healed himself. Obviously none of that is in the manga, so you can't call it canon, but I kinda wish it was.
Animation in the finisher looked great, but like everything else in the anime lately, the pacing was atrocious. The attack took way too long imo, and I'm of the opinion that the pushing thing is kinda meh. If they really wanted to extend it to fit the allotted time, they could've gone into more detail of the strings being destroyed by the attack, showing the strings snap one by one with nice art and animation. It wasn't horribly done, but could've been way better imo.
