RE: "Luffy's Last Adventure As A 17 Year-Old"
I felt compelled to draw up quickly an aged Luffy.
what have you done to him that made him so angry?

RE: "Luffy's Last Adventure As A 17 Year-Old"
It's something totally different.
I'm sure Oda knows that timeskips are "Jump the shark" moments for mangas, so that won't happen.
Luffy in Coma for a year? Never. It would make sense in some way, because his mates have the chance to catch up.
BUT (and that's a fat but) the Strawhats would fall behind of the nine other Supernova crews. Oda put much effort into the Supernovas characters, so they'll surely cross the storyline again; but that would be difficult if they're one year ahead of Luffy. So my guess is that the whole "LLAAA17YO"-thing is something totally different, Odastyle, pure genius, something that never came to our minds.
Edit: I just had an awesome idea: what if it actually means "Luffy's last adventure as a 17 year old BOY"? Think about it: Hancock takes Luffy's virginity away, so he's not a "17 year old boy anymore", but a "17 year old MAN". That would make sense, don't you think so?

The secret identity of Chopperman is… Tony Tony Chopper. Think about it, it's true. Believe me.

RE: Davy Back Arc - Relevance to the One Piece storyline
So you see, after the Foxy Pirates shot Shelly, Luffy got angry, looking for a fight. He agreed right away even though he didn't know what a Davy Back Fight was. He wanted to fight Foxy to avenge Shelly.
Luffy could've disagreed to the DBF and still battle Foxy. That would be a far wiser decision in my opionion.

RE: Davy Back Arc - Relevance to the One Piece storyline
He risks them whenever they fight an enemy. They could all have died at multiple points because of his whims. This is small-time compared to the sorts of risks he normally asks/expects them to take.
Sorry but don't forget he goes out fighting Mr. 5 team jsut because they mucked up a fight for two giants he jsut met, Luffy decided to play a game which is less painful then fighting, because the old man he jsut met had his Hoooorrrrrssse taken from him, so he had to play to get it back jsut like he had to fight Mr.5 team.
Yes, but he always had a reason to "risk" his mates. He fought Mr. 5 and all other villains because it was the right thing to do. But he didn't have any reason to fight Foxy, except boredom. AND the Davy Back Fight is a tricky game, not a 1 on 1 fight, where you got to cheat to win (or you need to be very awesome, like the Strawhats are, but they also were lucky).
So, for me, the Davy Back Fight was a total unnecessary risk, which Luffy could've avoid by thinking straight.Luffy is very naive but when it comes to his crewmates he is a totally badass, so his reaction didn't make any sense to me.
It shows that he believes in his crew's ability to pull out of it unscathed; there was no factor of risk involved, because he placed complete trust in them.
Hey, that sounds good. I like that thought.

RE: Davy Back Arc - Relevance to the One Piece storyline
What was so bad about it?
Foxy: "Let's play a game. You'll lose all of your crewmates."
Luffy: "Awesome."C'mon, that was so stupid. Luffy would never risk his mates.
But the main problem I have with this arc is that it's unbelievable unfunny. Except for Afro-Luffy of course, Afro-Luffy was hilarious.

RE: Davy Back Arc - Relevance to the One Piece storyline
In 2020, when One Piece chapter 1200 will be released, Oda will create an absolute genius story twist where the relevance of the Davy Back arc will be revealed.
At least I hope so, because the Davy Back Fight really sucked.
Oh my, I don't even know any words to discribe how stupid this arc was.

RE: Chapter 556 "Justice Will Prevail!!" Discussion
@joekido:
Japanese are humans, not alians who can't sleep, drink or eat
C'mon, that's totally untrue.
