I'll go with the theory of a new character, with the DF abality to make some fairy tail monsters come to reality, be it a dragon or a half man.

They repeated too much "it shouldn't exist" or "it comes straight out of fairy tail" throught the chapter for it to be innocent…maybe..

After Pluton and Poseidon, the ancient weapons are coming back with Neptune…

Have you noted how Luffy's missing all his crew ?

In quite each chapter on Amazon Island, we have a "if only he was here" quote

Sanji in the 514 : when he's hungry
Franky in the 516 : after the raft broke
Nami in the 517 : when he realizes he can't go back alone
Chopper in the 519 : when he wishes someone were here to check on the statue's health

I think we'll see them all soon…

We will only see Luffy's lonely adventure, and we'll follow the adventure of the others strawhats through cover stories after the CP9 one

Nami: What is a "vivrecard"?
Laura: What, you don't know?
Pirate: They only have vivrecards in the New World, Captain Laura.

It doesn't seem that it doesn't work before new world, only that they don't have them..

I think that Kefi released some time ago all of Oda's short stories he did published in a book named "Wanted", you should find it on their site www.kefi.org

The story with Ryoma is "Monsters", but I could be wrong here..
