Let me clarify one thing, that is a possibility, but also keep in mind, "bu" is sound of fart.
It's plausable that it's just a childish joke by Oda that the lower half is literally speaking out of its ass.

And even then.. the question of why the legs are talking.. and why the legs aren't conscious of the rest of the body/ seems to have a mind of it's own is a good start.

Probably not. The same should be applied to the other 3 (or the other others if any exist) islands.. and since paths tend to cross paths with each other or atleast Luffy will run into people that chose other paths.

They weren't talking like as its some giant wall. It sounded as if they were talking about a living thing, what's said differs in diffent translations. two amin translation(online, I lost my official manga book w/that chapter)

I'm guessing DF names will be revealed in due time in the manga. Honestly, if people can't figure out obvious details for themselves then that's their problem. I don't see why Oda needs to point them out.

That part about Shanks was interesting though. I'm really curious about how CoC works. I think Oda is trying to say that someone like Shanks could knock them all out because all their wills are too weak to withstand his CoC, whereas with Luffy only half were too weak to withstand it. Maybe.
