I do realize that I'm a newcomer to your forum here, but I'd like to think that I'm entitled to register my opinion in the same fashion that a more experienced member could, while inviting you to correct any misconceptions my naivety may engender. I just registered recently in order to express my support of my friend Octogon in this thread here.
Unfortunately, Carly seems to have had objections to this, and I, in turn, must express my most ardent objection to her (his?) handling of the situation. First of all, I was in no way simply agreeing with Octagon for it's own sake, he was clearly correct in the debate he was engaged in. Unfortunately there are certain people, such as phenomonol, the person he was engaged against, who will not listen to reason. In cases such as that, one can only attempt to outnumber them, which was the reasoning behind my discontinuing my lurking habits and coming to support Octagon.
Therefore Carly's claim that the thread was a "circle-jerk", if I understood it correctly, is not correct, and the thread should not have been locked.
Second, I don't believe it's appropriate for a forum moderator to react in such an immature fashion to what he or she perceives as a situation requiring modding. While I'm certainly not above adding some fucking profanity to my speech to add emphasis, in dealing with members, a mod should attempt to be polite to avoid engendering hard feelings towards the mod's unilateral actions.
Calling a legitimate debate that people are involved in a "circle-jerk" is not polite.
I ask that the thread be re-opened and this sort of situation be handled more appropriately in the future. Thanks.
