So has anybody been following the Sarah Jane Adventures around here? I think it's rather good and while it's obviously aimed at children it never insults the intelligence of the viewer and for once the kids are actually likeable (thank god they got rid of that annoying kelsey girl in the pilot/special/thingy) and reasonably intelligent. The occasional Who reference (Sontarans) is a nice touch for the older viewers.
{Thinking out loud} I wonder what classic serial I should watch (has been watching them out of sync). I think I might go for war games I always wondered exactly how the doctor got exiled in the first place. {Starts watching war games}
-
I aint seen Sarah Jane yet ;-; it always finishes when I come in from work so >.< blah, there'll be a DVD soon tho.
Anyways, classic serials worth watching:
Daleks, Dalek invasion of earth, Invasion, Time Warrior, Terror of the Autons, Silurians, Sea Devils, Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, Zygons, Key to Time, Robots of Death, Earthshock, Caves of Androzani, Timelash, Rememberance of the Daleks, Survival.
Thats most what I can remember off hand lol

ZOMG!
SONTARANS! In series 4! CONFIRMED BY THE BBC!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
-
I knew that mention of the sontarans in the SJA was way too random to be a coincidence. Agatha Christie, Pompeii, the Ood and the Sontarans. Season 4 is bound to be great. Anyway I've been keeping a list of all the classic serials which tells me I've seen 27 classic serials so far and about half the serials you mentioned. The only problem with watching them out of sync is that you never really finish anything.
-
well RTD said that there would be two returning monsters next year (not including Ood) so we have one down, Davros for the other one hahaha.
Anywho, the beauty of Doctor Who is the fact that you can really watch em in any order, to an extent anyways
-
All I have to say tonight is..
OMG! THE BACK OF MY HEAD!!!!!!
-
That was brilliant and we got an explanation for the Titanic thing as well
-
hahaha yeah =3 I just wish they able to put it on the DVD as an extra, instead of next year >.<
Now I can't wait for Voyage of the Damned XD Looking forward to that more than Christmas itself.
-
Yep me too only five or six weeks now
-
Now that's what I call fanservice with some great dialogue by both doctors. Can't wait for Voyage even though Kylie Minoque is said to be a terrible actress (like most popstars).
-
least she'll only be there for one ep lol
unless they pull a Donna on us XD
-
First point:
FUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKK First Donna and now Rose!? What is this? Shit Companion return time? Mickey BETTER return if Rose does.
Second Point: RIP Verity Lambert
Third Point: WOAH! BBC page! Is that…..AXONS!?
-
If Rose is back you can bet your sonic screwdriver on Davros returning as well. After all the wall between dimensions has to be opened by someone and why would Davros waste his time building new daleks instead of freeing the existing ones from the void. About the BBC page they do look like the Axons now you mention it and they probably are too since they were mentioned twice last season. A lot of cool things on the horizon even though it feels like they're trying to please the fans instead of actually making a good show. They could do worse I suppose.
-
Well, as it was speculated, it looks as though the Titanic is in fact a Spaceship.
-
That's actually pretty cool even though something tells me they just made it a spaceship to prevent continuity problems. Anyway the fact that it's going to be 71 minutes which is pretty awesome too. Someone pass me the popcorn. Oh wait it's still 16 days away…
-
Just goes to prove that they can still pull something amazing out of the blue, and also explains why we saw that Alien guy dancing in the trailers.
-
official trailer for voyage of the damned
-
Its official New version of the main theme for series 4 and of course for voyage of the damned
-
I'm sorry but can you tell me what the source of that piece of news is because I don't see anyone else talking about new opening credits. The only thing I read is that they were making a new musical theme for Donna which comes as no real surprise.
-
yea, I aint seen nuthing about the new theme…..Donna has a new theme...
-
It was on the uk childrens newsround programme the news was part of a piece they did about David tennant debunking the rumours of his exit from the series.
There was a very brief clip of the music but it was drowned out by the reporter so I can't really comment on it other than that
-
hmmmm, could happen then, although I'm suprised there is nothing on it on the BBC site…
-
A newsround review of the special confirms the new theme.
There's a lot that's different in this episode. A new version of the theme tune and a new companion in the shape of pop star Kylie Minogue.
-
yea, it was also confirmed on the bbc site, sorry for not believing you
-
That wasn't my fave ever episode I have to admit
here for any american fans is the new titles season 4 preview and the torchwood trailer which appeared afterwards
-
It wasn't to bad, but why is it the non-annoying assistant dies while the annoying ones (Rose, girl from the previous Christmas special) are coming back… :/
Can't say I'm looking forward to the next season of Torchwood. I wasn't overly impressed with the first season and it is replacing Heroes on a Wednesday night, which was easily the highlight of my week.
-
I'm surprised they killed her off. I actually really liked Astrid. It might have been interesting to see the doctor show her around the universe and Kylie's acting was actually pretty good for someone who doesn't do it on a regular basis. So now we have to wait at least another 3 months for season 4 and judging from the preview it looks like U.N.I.T. is finally back in action. I wonder who they're shooting at (Sontarans would be awesome).
-
Yeah, U.N.I.T were confirmed for series 4.
But I dunno what people are complaining about, I thought that ep was awesome. Nice to see an ep where pretty much everyone dies (and the one who most people who thought would either die or become goody goody survives, I BETCHA he returns)
-
I wonder if thats the Rani Sarah lancashire is playing?
what I saw in the series 4 trailer
That is the sontarans facing off against unit
agatha christie
pompeii
the ood
bernard cribbens newspaper guy (very quick that one but he is there in a scene) plus commentary confirmed he is a returning character in series 4…
-
Why does everyone think that's the Rani just because she has a sonic probe. Last time I checked sonic probes weren't limited to just timelords. Captain Jack had a sonic blaster when he was first introduced. So I'm pretty sure that they're actually pretty common tools used in many advanced societies.
-
Well someone did mention that the hand that picture up the Master's ring was the Rani's, so it sounds like they may want to use her sooner or later.
-
There was a rumour a couple months ago that sarah lancashire was signed up to play the rani.
Thought it wasn't true at first
but behold
in the series 4 trailer theres Sarah lancashire…clearly playing a villian and using a sonic screwdriver!
-
While the Rani is going to return, I'm sure RTD said that he only used her as a way to bring back the Master at a later date. I somehow doubt that this new woman is the Rani, she is supposed to be in first ep too as an 'Evil Businesswoman'
-
Another rumour - Captain Jack, Rose, Martha, K9 and Sarah Jane will be joining the Doctor and the annoying woman from the 2006 Christmas Special for some big end of series event.
And seeing as how some of the previous rumours turned out to be true (Dalek vs Cybermen; the return of the Master) I think there's a strong chance this will happen. Either way though, Jack is penned for season 4.
-
YEAHHH, the episode is up in the usual place, good ridance. I really hated the old OS, I'm always looking forward for something new for a long time.
Just heard the new Opening and I really like it.
-

There may be a shred of truth to this as Martha and sarah jane were recently spotted filming a scene
-
I already knew Martha will be back. The creator confirmed it and said she'll have a boyfriend meaning she's no longer interested in the Doctor.
-
A new rumour is going round that the last four episodes of the fourth series are one long story arc called….
! The time war
No clue if thats true or not but it would be one hell of an ending if it is
-
So there's the potential that they're finally going to shed some light on that plotline? Cool.
-
Picked up Voyage of the Damned and I must say, after re-watching it after all this time….I still love it XD It's so nice to see the Doctor in a different situation than usual.
-

-
I think thats either a working title, a pure fan guess, or the actual title but they didn't leak it
-
Crap, forgot to do reviews for these thus far anywho:
Partners in Crime:
OK, for a series starter…this was pretty naff, sure it brings back Donna (whom I'm actually liking this time around) and its got its funny moments but....nah, I just couldn't get into it, the Adipose were wonderfully naff, almost ranking with Max Capricorne and Dalek Sec Hybrid, althogh I liked Super Nanny...she was pretty good, though I hated the way she was killed. In comparison to New Earth, Rose and Smith and Jones, this is easily the weakest opening. 4/10
Fires of Pompeii:
In short: Brilliant
In long: Brilliaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant. The monsters were absolutely amazing and somewhat scary (well, if you found the Werewolf to be scary) loved the whole episode, especially the Doctor's gun. I must admit, I think the series' 'historic' episodes are getting better and better each year, I esppecially loved the whole 'I can't save anyone because it affects the timeline' bit at the end, bloody excellent. 8/10
Anywho, looks like the next episode will be continuing the '3rd Story of awesomeness' we've had for the past few years, can't wait. Hopefully the Sontaran two-parter will end the series of 'naff' two parters we've had early on during the past series (Yes, Slitheen, Cybermen and Daleks, I mean you)
and speaking of Cybermen
! looks like they're the monsters for this years christmas special…tho its Cybus again ;-;
-
oh what a fun episode that was XD I loved the 'Hero' Ood and the whole Hair Tonic thing XD
-
I agree it was a good episode. I actually heard a rumour this was going to be a two parter but to be honest I'm glad it wasn't.
Martha is back next episode, which is great. And a classic villain returns!
-
Damn, I keep forgetting to update on this topic.
Anywho, after Doctor's Daughter and Unicorn and Wasp which were….okish episodes, Silence in the Library really delivers, so far I could easily say that its one of, if not best New Series story we've had.
