Hey everyone,
So I notice there used to be some scant MLB threads here back in the day. I get forum culture kinda slows down and changes, especially for a place as long in the tooth as this, but I wondered if anyone else here still considers themselves a Baseball fan? I know I am - a Detroit Tigers fan at that.
In any case though, as of last night at 11:59 PM EST, there is a lockout enacted by the owners of MLB which may well harm the sport even more going forward. Hard to say what will happen, but I'd like to think they can sort it out before we lose any actual games. It'd be a real killer to the momentum where we had the shortened COVID year in 2020, then this year had a pretty sizeable rebound with fun Baseball developments like:
-Shohei Ohtani's awe-inspiring domination from the mound and batter's box,
-Freddie Freeman and co. winning their first World Series title in decades for Atlanta,
-I greatly enjoyed my team's rebounding from a rebuild and preparations to compete with a year of fun players playing hard,
-Also I loved the battle between some of the best teams this year like the Giants, Rays, and Dodgers,
-The young stars taking over the league are also amazing - Fernando Tatis Jr, Juan Soto, Vladimir Guererro Jr, Ronald Acuna Jr,
-Some of the older vets putting in great years like now retired Buster Posey, Mad Max Scherzer somehow still leading the NL in ERA!?!, Miggy's 500th Home run (well wasn't a "great year" for him, but a very memorable one)
It was a really fun and exciting year of Baseball for me!
