Is it? How many volumes?
-
From anime NEws network, this is not a manga but an anime series. More info can be found @ http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encycloped…ime.php?id=1514
And yes it has ended.
And its a wierd series.
-
I think it's still going… Not sure what magazine.
I have no idea why this thread was locked. -_-
-
Can a mod or admin lock this and merge this with this topic?
I was searching the anime/manga forum for a Kinnikuman topic and found the aforementioned thread.
To answer patz's question, Kinnikuman Nisei (the manga) is still ongoing in Japan and is at 27+ volumes. The anime ended and I doubt it is going to be continued.
Sorry to waste space but I just wanted to answer that question. :)
-
Yeah, I hope they bring the anime back into the current set of Nisei storylines though, and better animated too. The Kinnikuman Nisei anime I've seen so far (japanese version not 4kids shit version), the animation quality kinda sucked
-
I always wondered why the animation ended, because I thought, personally, that the story was quite disrespectful to the Legend Generation. I especially hated when King Suguru was revealed to be an old, worthless loser. It kind of hurt.
It made out as though all the strong, proud wrestlers had been overtaken by some pathetic characters such as Gazelleman. Who I absolutely hated, along with that walrus thing, Seiuchin. The Akuma Chojins also kind of sucked, too. Especially the appearance of the older Sunshine.
I assumed that the Japanese had felt the same, besides, they grew up with the Kinnikuman series, and I wouldn't be shocked if they hadn't liked it.
I also remember that rumour about the "America Only" series. In which the Japanese made another series for the States, not to be aired in Japan. The whole blonde-haired, powered up Kevin Mask reminded me too much of Dragonball Z.
Eh, I own the Japanese video-game of Kinnikuman Nisei, and I never play as the New Generation. Or, I very rarely do.
How is the storyline coming along in Japan, Akuma Shogun? I always wondered if that name was a reference to the character from Kinnikuman, y'know…
-
it wasnt that they were being disrespectful its that they cant be young buff heroes for the rest of their lives
The anime wasn't states only o_O The season where they held the choujin crown tournament was made because of a huge fanbase in america, which honestly i dont even see a lot of kinnikuman fans here stateside, and we ended up with kid muscle winning the choujin crown and everything but if im not mistaken in the manga Kevin Mask beats himAnyways, the voice acting in the US Dub, was atrocious, Gazelle Man sounded like he was bored… If they would release the series uncut on DVD in America with Language and Subtitle options I would be happy cause I have the HK Bootlegs and the subtitles are somewhat okay.

**I know, but look at Buffaloman, Ramenman, and so forth. They looked good.
And I was also aware of the fact that the whole animÃ
wasn't America Only, just the last series. Did you get the HK Bootlegs off EBay, then?

No offense, but I originally just wanted this topic to be locked and merged with a pre-existing thread, but I'm glad to find other fans of Kinnikuman.
You guys are way better than most of the members at the AKIA forums. ^_^

(I reopened the topic. I don't know whoever closed this before, but if you feel like closing it again, please do. I think so far it's okay to leave it open.)

The newest one (v28) was published on May 19, 2005, so I believe it's still going on. But whoa, it's been long time. I remember watching/reading Kin'nikuman when I was little. I guess the little boy grow up and became Nisei? Is that right? :D! -

I used to be a member of the AKIA forums, I forget under what name.
I remember the fellow who did the voice for Meat used to be a member, but.. I didn't particularly like his voicework. I mean, the Japanese version is so sweet, but his version is like some disgruntled old drunk man.

**__Yes, Kinniku-Suguru had a son with Bibinba, who grew up into Kinniku-Mantaro. However, I don't particularly like the new one, due to the absolute disrespect shown to the Legend Generation. It makes them all out as old, weak and useless. And when I remember the absolute Hell they all went through in the past, it almost makes a mockery of it.
Plus, I'm a sucker for retro stuff. I can't get enough of it.
As for the series, I'd love to see the old one. I've never seen it up on EBay, though._

I wish I had access to the original Kinnikuman series
I got both seasons of the show in chinatown
season 3 and 4 was supposed to be released as HK bootlegs but apparently they company making them was busted >>
It sucked so hard cause the second season dvd's ended with mantaro's fight with crione man. they announce the fight btwn jade and scareface but thats where they end and i wanted to see the rest of the series. what pisse me off was i missed out on the "poison" six pack ( dont know their names in japan ) and the fights with hanzo, forkliftor ( i believe thats his name, i think that was what they called him in the US GBA version ) and Kinkotsu Man's son, i missed all those fights in the US, plus i missed the last episodes of the Choujin crown cause of my work schedule ;;
the whole reason everyone else looked so good and suguru looked so dumpy was cause hes always been a comedic character if they left him in perfect shape from hs training it honestly would have made no sense cause he and mantaro were always the same way, neglecting their training and everything, itwasnt disrespct as much as it was what honestly probably would have happened if he was a real life person
i do hoenstly wish though that some of the matches in nisei were like some of the matches in the original series, stuff like brocken getting ripped in half or meat being broken apart just made the series wotrthwhile cause it wasnt stupid stuff like he took a shit in the ring, which was funny in it's own way
it seemed like nisei was aimed more at children then the adults who not only grew up with the series but remember how greast it was
i think someone should at least release the manga in america and fan sub the original series
toriyama world was lazy and just felt like translating whatever manga they wanted instead of just doing it all :( lol -
Yeah, Suguru wasn't the kind of person to continue his training after his work was done.
And as for the other members being weak… well, they WERE pretty old. Even if they continued training, I think a fresh, strong young man will usually beat a tough old man. I liked how the series introduced a lot of new designs (I liked the walrus a lot, myself) and the descendants of the Legend Generation. It was a cool new experience (though I never read too much of Kinnikuman... Toriyama World's laziness got on my nerves so I stopped using their scans).
As for gory moments... Jaeger slicing up Gazelleman with the Red Rain of Pain was pretty gruesome, as was the walrus getting impaled by the water guy's spine.
-
the fact that mantaro used the stone cold stunner during the fight and that viz left that the way it was called amazed me heh

One of the reasons I stopped going was because of the blind 4Kids love. Their big point in justifying the dub is that:
A.)"ITS KID FREINDLY!1!1"
B.)How funny Meat's voice is.I occasionly post there as Slowhand.
I kinda agree with those who think that the older heroes were screwed. None of the New Generation are as cool as the originals. It basically boils down to Mantaro and Kevin Mask where as the original had Suguru, Brocken Jr., Ramenman, Buffaloman, Robin Mask, Terryman, and more.
I still like it though. ^_^
-
Yeah, TW became slow after HnG or Naruto was licensed… I still like them, but I liked them better when they were productive ^^;
-
Well, I agree that the new generation isn't as cool as the Legends. The only new guy I liked was the Walrus, and Scarface had a cool design too (well, while in disguise).
I didn't mind the 4Kids dub too much, myself, and I kind of liked Meat's voice… but that's just me.
-
i didnt mind some of teh 4kids voices but geez they slaughtered teh characters names and a lot of the jokes LOL
Meat's voice ddidn't suit him haha I think scarface without the costume was cooler :)
-
One thing I did notice is, there's a lot of perverted jokes in this dub version, not unlike the original.
I recall a lot of the stuff being quite risquÃ
for an American dub, especially by 4Kids Entertainment. Just the odd reference to sex now and again, or adult situations.
Like, "Kid Muscle" saying how he caught his parents 'wrestling', and his Mom was dressed as Buffaloman. She replies, "We thought you were sleeping!" - A blatant reference to kinky sex, and parental attitudes towards sex.
And I once recall a line by "Dik Dik Van Dik" asking if he could join some girls for a 'threesome', as in to go out together, but the tone of his voice suggested something sexual about the whole thing.
I assume someone at 4Kids just snapped, and thought, "Let's put a load of sex jokes in it, they won't ever know!"
Nice nod to that crazy bloke, there.
