One Piece digital-colored chapters by Shueisha v2
-
-
This hasn't even been the longest hiatus, but I get the feeling.
For what it's worth, the last few batches have tended to come out alongside the digital release of a new black and white volume (a month after its physical release) and we've got the monochrome volume 106 coming out in July. So maybe an early August release? Hopes up for an announcement around July 20?
-
I’m sure we will still get the next one for the color cover story chapters soon :)
-
Hello everyone!
I've forgotten this might also be a good place to share a link to my new telegram channel!
This'll kinda replace the One Piece Digital Colored Discord channel I've been running for a few years, which you can still join.
I don't really want to moderate any chat groups, so you won't be able to chat there. It's simply a channel you can join to download all my upscales of digitally colored One Piece, volumes one through ninety-nine.
These are the same exact files found on Nyaa under the name:
"[Ethan] One Piece - Digital Colored Comics - v001-099 (Upscale)"
I hope you enjoy!

@Captain-M Ok, now I'm worrried
-
@P4gL14cc1 I'm still not too concerned, I don't know the sales figures but on the official One Piece channel they're pretty much always using the colored manga and not the b/w. Don''t imagine they'd do that if it wasn't popular.
Also, while the hiatus may be relatively long, I don't think it's unusual that we're about 80 chapters behind the b/w manga. During the hiatus in 2020 we were 120 chapters behind, and then they dropped 6 volumes at once.
-
@P4gL14cc1 I'm certainly disappointed to have to wait longer. Dropping new volumes this close to One Piece day would have been a great move. But it is what it is.
Cavendishsama is right that they keep using these releases for promo matieral to an extent that it wouldn't make sense to stop doing them. Add in that they started releasing a full colour Hero Aca this year for another high profile, high effort colourisation that must be taking up resources until it gets up to date, and I'm sure it's fine. Just gotta keep being patient.
-
@Captain-M we gain an official color version of My Hero Academia but not Black Clover? :/
-
@Nitwit I think it makes sense to prioritise Hero Aca between the two. It's the bigger seller, plus its superhero aesthetic takes a lot of inspiration from western comics that tend to start out in colour, so it feels at home in the format.
But I couldn't get into Black Clover at all and still enjoy Hero Aca even as it limps toward its ending, so I might be biased on this front.
-
@Captain-M the black clover anime made things better by having faster pacing and greater animations unlike the manga that has pacing problems in the past. But having it moved to Giga Jump will help Black Clover’s pacing better by having 60 pages so fights will be longer and stronger storytelling will be paced better so when the anime comes back they won’t have problems with pacing this time
-
Have we broken the record for longest hiatus yet?
-
I think so. For what it's worth, we've been as far as 10 volumes behind the latest release in the past, and we'll only be at 8 when volume 107 drops next month. You have to assume that balancing that distance as the black and white releases get slower and slower is a factor in Shueisha planning when to drop these things.
-
Sorry to get everyone's hopes up for news with a thread bump, but here's a snippet of art from an unreleased volume thanks to the One Piece Card Game:
Really hoping we see the next batch drop alongside the digital volume 107 early next month, but nothing has been announced yet. At least the ongoing use of digital colour art for things like the card game and vivre cards and panels featured in the magazine shows that they're still working on it behind the scenes.

Hey
I'm new and not sure if this is the right place to ask this but does anybody know where I can buy the official colored manga volumes? (I know they are in Japanese)
edit: oh on booklive jp com ? -
@the-octo I use Booklive, but any ebook site you can convince to take foreign money is doable. Amazon and the like. Any built-in browser translator should make them navigable enough. Those translators won't help for actually reading the manga, obviously, but if you're just in it for the art/supporting the release, it's not too hard to get in.

So the official One Piece Twitter is doing promos for this Watch Along One Piece thing where they're streaming the whole anime on their Youtube channel or something along those lines. And they're using digital colour panels to promo each section of the story as they come up.
Thing is, they're dropping these things in a substantially higher resolution than anything that's ever come up on ebook sites, let alone been ripped and distributed online. We're talking see the rough edges of the pen strokes, count the dots in the halftone shading levels of quality.
Open that thing in a new tab and marvel at it. This panel is 1040px tall, while the full page height you get from most manga ebook sites is around 1200px. The original panel is a little more than a third of the page it's pulled from. And it looks great even this zoomed in. Really goes to show how good an oversize, deluxe edition for the series could be (as discussed recently in the vol 107 thread).
I've made an imgur gallery for all the panels they've revealed so far and I'll keep updating it as they go. https://imgur.com/a/xJK96yu 155 panels and pages so far, going up to the start of Whole Cake Island, most of them never before seen at such crazy resolutions.
My hopes is that when this anime marathon overtakes volume 99 we might even glimpse some new material to hold us over until whenever the next volumes drop.
-
That's crazy good to look at! Thanks for sharing and for collecting all these, Captain M.
-
Another vol 100 panel in the card game
-
Panels from vols 100 and vol 101 in HD via twitter:
-
I'm just SO glad they keep brow-eye Robin (Superior Version ) in the colored volumes ToT
-
Aaaaand from vol 102 onward the Twitter is back to black and white panels, so it looks like that's the end of our preview.
As much as we've all been hoping for a lot of volumes to drop to make up for the long break, this makes me feel like we'll only get the next two whenever the update comes. Better than nothing, but still rough.
-
Does anyone know when the digitally-colored version of Volumes 100 and 101 will come out ?
-
That's a million dollar question, baby (I believe we don't have a date yet)
-
It was probably in my realistic ass dream but I swear I read somewhere that vol 100-105 were being released soon LOL
If anyone knows this to be true please update
-
You guys can always check Shueisha's website for the full list of colour releases here, or the list of One Piece colour releases here.
Release windows are at the start and in the middle of the month, usually, and items get added about two weeks before release, usually. I've got the pages bookmarked and check them every now and then and I have seen a few apparent shadow drops, but that doesn't happen too much.
Good way to check the validity of optimistic-sounding rumours!
-
I’m sure 2024 we going to get two more One Piece color manga out soon
-
The first quarter of 2024 is about to end. Are there any news on the release of new volumes?
-
@MiHawkins Nothing at all.
I was hoping we might get a couple alongside the digital release of black and white volume 108, but Shueisha is continuing to chip away at the colour versions of Haikyu and Hero Aca instead.
If I might offer a dose or two of hopium - the furthest the colour release has ever fallen behind since it started is 10 volumes, and we're only 9 behind now (thanks to the slower release rate of recent volumes). I also recall that the last gap close to this long between releases left the series stalled in the middle of Whole Cake Island, and then they dropped the entire back half of Whole Cake and the first handful of Wano volumes at once. They might want to do the same with the end of Wano and the start of Egghead.
-
Meanwhile the latest part of JoJo that started on 2023 already has one of its two volumes in color.
It’s really weird. Unless by some anomaly the highest selling series ever sells zero color volumes, it makes no sense for every other series to keep the releases regularly while OP is halted.
But I’m honestly more bothered by the lack of updates on the Vivre Card. The dream databook that would be continuously updated, but only got one update after the original course and apparently is over…
-
@access-timeco I feel like Jojo gets to be an outlier because canon colours are a foreign concept to Araki. The colourists can do what they need to. No one cares if Araki's next volume cover or colour spread contradicts the colour manga because it probably also contradicts his last cover/spread. One Piece is more concrete with its character designs, so I understand them wanting a bit of time for Oda/the anime to set colours in stone before locking in a release.
The Vivre Card though, yeah, what happened to that? No Egghead characters for a while I can live with, it's drawing from the same resources as the colour version that's presumably trying catch up, but there are so many EX-character gaps in the roster. Even if they think an EX-card only pack wouldn't sell, they could still pad it out with more skills cards or arc-based variants of the main crew if they needed to.
-
Well I've got no issues with the Vivre Card being dead.
They were off to a rocky start to begin with, wrong information on the cards and the correction was published on a website instead of rereleasing the cards with the correct information.
They should have complied that information in English too. Like they did for the Card Game. -
@Captain-M Undead Unluck had a digital-colored manga release before the anime, while Mashle did not receive one despite its popularity during the pandemic.
-
@Nitwit Yeah it's crazy that one got the colour treatment so early in its run. Good for Undead Unluck fans I guess.
Most of the big classics of previous generations seem to have been coloured already, but if they're going to try more old ones I think Assassination Classroom would be a good choice. And it's got all those scenes that revolve around what colour Korosensei is that could work so much better than in black and white.
I'd even take a coloured Promised Neverland, despite the ways that series declined in the back half.
Those my hopes, but they'll probably go for something less interesting (to me) but more popular like Black Clover instead for the next series to get done.
-
@Captain-M I'm sure they will take their time to plan for more digitally colored manga. It proves it prints money so why not try other series like The Promised Neverland or even Dr. Stone? Might work for those series. ️
-
@Nitwit Ooh, Dr Stone I'd forgotten about. That could be a standout release if they give it the high-effort treatment.
I just hope the One Piece releases are a little better balanced around it, whatever they do in the future.
-
@Captain-M hopefully they will return soon
-
Maybe the wrong place to ask, but does anyone know where I can find HD versions of the Japanese volume covers with the original map texture backgrounds? The One Piece wiki swapped out the images with very desaturated versions. The colors just look awful. I'm trying to update my excel sheet with better versions of the images, but I'm just not having any luck finding HD images with accurate colors.
-
@StrawHatJedi I have no idea where to find them. Maybe they could be useful for updating the wiki page
-
@StrawHatJedi Good versions with the map are hard to track down. You can see here even the official Shueisha listings have these washed-out images that look more like physical scans of the printed books than they do a direct upload of the original cover files. And you can see the difference when you put them next to the actually colour-corrected for screen reading versions of the digital release (whether colour or black and white).
I'd be interested to see them if you do track down a properly colour adjusted version of the physical covers, but I'm not sure such a thing exists outside of dedicated fans scanning and touching up the covers themselves.
-
@Captain-M It's frustrating because I did find a source a few months ago and I'm pretty sure it was right on the Wiki. I only copied a few volumes and I shrunk the images down in my document, not realizing I didn't uncheck the compression settings, so now they're very low resolution. I only copied the first 4 volumes then went on to doing something else, figuring I could return to it later. The other day I went back and now the official listings and the wiki have swapped out for the aforementioned washed out images. Maybe I'm wrong about it being the wiki a few months ago, but I'm 99% sure. I will let you know if I ever track down the source though.
-
Some collector's edition DVD set of the Monsters anime is going to come with a fully coloured version of the original manga oneshot, which I guess is technically new OP colour manga content.
-
@Captain-M Rare for a one shot to even get an official digital color version. I wonder if his other manga outside One Piece will get official colors as well? His other One Shots should get the official color treatment
-
@Nitwit Maybe this is a precursor to a full colour Wanted release.
If not that, it might be worth them doing the Strong World promo chapter that's allegedly canon as well, especially since I'm pretty sure there's not any easy official way to read it at this point, not being part of any regularly printed volume in Japanese and only as a box set extra in English (I'm not rebuying 20+ volumes I already own just to get my hands on a 20 page chapter, Viz).
That, or just release the next actual volume. I'd sacrifice all the oneshots and extras in the franchise for volume 100.
-
@Captain-M Any info on color chapters from 1004 ?
-
@T bot?
-
@Nitwit No I wanted to ask about Color chapters
-
@T no I meant your comment stops at a period with no text in it I just assume you were a bot
-
@T Nothing at all. Remember, I've got no insider info, just a couple of publicly available listing pages I've got bookmarked for regular reference.
There were some new Hero Aca colour volumes at the start of the month, a new Jojo in the middle, and the only thing currently listed for start of May are Haikyu and Shadows House.
