You need to disable your router's firewall in relation to Smash... sometimes this is called "DMZ mode"...

For reference, I had this error before when I first got the game. I followed this guide and it fixed it.

Actually, while we're waiting, gonna do a practice match. Since we're doing more than 2 players and we're including all Items, I'm kinda worried about Lag. Wana test it.

Does this happen quite often? the online isn't perfect, but oftentimes it can hold up fairly well depending on the match

I hear you, brother. I know everyone else has to deal with it too, but I just find it particularly frustrating. Maybe teams wouldnt be as bad.

That said, I'll be around for a while. Post here or PM/VM me if you want to get a For Glory match in.

Pretty much every match. I just blame my internet.

It wasn't so bad for the first few weeks, I adjusted to the lag by executing commands sooner and thinking ahead, and I was doing fine. But I think now everyone worldwide has pretty much found the characters they're good with and the lag is becoming a make or break deal for matches. Especially frustrating when I know I can keep up with them in real life, but the lag throws a wrench in it.

And I feel another part is I don't want to get super aggressive at the risk of breaking the circle pad. I love Smash, but no way am I going to increase any risk of breaking the circle pad when I have other games I want to get through.

Despite all that, I still find enjoyment in matches more often than not. Just not as much in competitive matches as I'd hoped.

If you break off the circle pad, it isn't the end of the world or anything. I broke it off, but just a dab of superglue overnight and it's back to normal. And you can play without it really affecting your gameplay. That's what I did for a time.

See, I'm just naturally not very aggressive with the handling of the stick… I figure I want to direct my rage towards my opponent, not the stick. Stick didn't do nothin' to me.

I'm still frustrated with the inability to differentiate between smash, tilt, and dash attacks. It's especially bad with Robin when sometimes I'm in a prime position in the air to punish and KO my opponent with a smash attack when my control stick decides I actually wanted a tilt attack. Lo and behold, I fail to properly KO when I had the perfect chance to do so. And that's without getting into the fact that I can't even just turn around without dashing because the stick is somehow oversensitive and unresponsive at the same time.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to be doing. 3DS will be for learnin' and fun, and I'll keep the competitive stuff for Wii U. Had a lot of fun trying to figure out what customization I liked best, so there's still a lot to discover.

Customs are fine if you choose to use them but no equipment (so essentially no stat mods)

Wait till the Wii U comes out… I cannot wait to play and be able to go all out on a GCN controller!

I learned some things in those matches. Never played a lot against Falcon before. Good games though man. I look forward to the next time.
