Tom's timing with these updates are magistsic has hell! Tom you wonderful troll.
-
oh boy
that close-up of the hand might just be disappointment for paz =(
-
Oh boy indeed. Too forward.
-
Kat's face in the middle row lol
-
Jeez, these three last pages have been the most severly hardcore case of cuteness I've seen in my living memory. Only downside of it is I feel like asserting my masculinity by doing something male-like.
Like making pancakes.
Good. Good. It's a deal then. Pancakes and split pea soup for dinner and rhubarbpie for dessert. -
! Any hints of lesbianism or bisexuality on the part of Kat in this series? I mean I know Kat had a thing for a bird once so she was always one of the less choosey females when it comes to partners but it'd be nice to refresh on some subtle Easter Eggs.

! Well, there was that one time when Rey asked if she and Annie was gonna kiss. She reacted kinda strongly to that, but eh, not too strange. Of course, since Faraway Morning there have been a lot of something going on with her with this subject.

Waiting for this update was absolutely nervewrecking. This is the truth here. I was really worried how forward Paz was, but at the same time I admired her bravery and somehow wanted to see her succeed. As for Kat, there were always alot of signs that showed she was atleast bisexual(or developing/growing in process). Atleast when it comes down to several interactions with Annie. I have several friends that I do seriously discuss this with, especially since write stories like this myself. My biggest concern is really the thing where one would see two characters and "just friends" or something that cannot possibly grow into a relationship… EVEN when the signs are almost completely obvious. It just annoys me.
Take that one scene where Kat is looking at Annie hugging Jack(this is totally misinterpreted by her), and then proceeds to show that she was probably a little jealous. Not saying is was an exact sign, but it does she's atleast attached to Annie enough that she would not want her to be taken away to a point where she'd stop paying attention to her(sorta like anyone that enters a relationship and gives their friends less attention).
I'm sure this confession came to a surprise to her, but Kat always strikes me as someone that's always willing to give things a try or explore when given the opportunity. I mean, her track record with romance has already sort of a mess. She's probably relieved enough that someone actually likes her. So good for Kat :)
-
Yay~
I'm so happy for Paz getting with Kat! :D
This chapter overall was pretty great, like most of the series. -
i just want to say thank GOD it's not kat x annie
that's all i ask
-
I'm still on that boat, so I challenge your god.
-
challenge away! im not a fan of the comic because i want a big shojo romance plot in my face every time those two pal up to solve mysteries
i dont care if it happens at the very end or something
-
I'd actually like KatxAnnie.
-
Uh. Kay.
I'll shutup.
And stop messing around. -
Anyone still reading this? The current chapter is becoming one of my favorites.
-
Yeah. I talk about it on Skype. Never in the mood to do so here anymore.
Great chapter for Renard so far.
-
I've been reading it for… Let's see X years since I moved away from home, it started in 2005, carry the three, add the inverse of pages per day and what year is it currently?... So it all adds up to... A while.
I'll be around anyways is my thinking. Unless it suddenly takes a huge plunge in quality for over a year or two. ...uh and even then I'll probably read it from time to time. >___> -
I really have nothing bump-worthy to say (except for maybe "Annie in the Forest" which you all should chekc out)
But I think the new chapter is gonna be a good one!
Since there seem to be a couple of people around here interested in this, it's worth a try to get the discussion rolling again!
I think most of you guys migrated to other, more lively places to discuss this comic and this will end up with me having funny little monologues in here :I
But if you feel like shouting something inbetween my awkward ramblings, please do so! :)
Last chapter was a feel good chapter and I am glad the friendship issues have been settled and Kat's first romantic endeavour is well on track. Still, nothing against the heartwarming interactions between Kat and Annie, but I have to admit the best part for me was the morbid robot death watch on the last page. This is spiralling out of control real quick and I'm loving it.
Next, I suspect we will see more of Jeanne and Parley in action. And it will be one hell of a ride. Anyone else looking forward to this? -

Annie in the Forest was pretty great, also nice to have something to sink some money into to help Tom! :)
@minus.:
But I think the new chapter is gonna be a good one!
Hell yeah! It got George and Smitty-face(cousin of great Cityface)!
-
Oh hey hello there! :D
That extra comic was a riot if just for Jones secretly delivering a fresh makeup supply and Annie putting it on with some clear withdrawal symptoms. After only one day!
But I truly enjoyed the character development with Annie out of her comfort zone. Let's see what else is in store.
Apropos store: Second part seems to be available already as a limited edition! You're thinking of getting it?And next chapter better include some City Face filler. :( Missing our birdy friend.
-

Oh hey hello there! :D
Greetings my subtractive friend! :silly:

Though & bought. :P Further thinking I did when I got it was that it was even better than the first part. Lots of fun stuff! One of my pages was misprinted but, eeeh, it was still very readable so, like, whatever and such.

Yes, preferably with Laundry List. Some ultra-cannibalism sounds mighty hilarious indeed, like clockwork orange but with birds! Oh my feathers!

What a positively creative greeting! :D

You're a cool and funky dude, don't let little things like that ruin the experience!
how did you like it?! Spoiler inside
! I really hoped that the forest would tickle out that side in any, that she constantly seemed to be trying to control and hide. And I was not disappointed! Drunk Annie is really something haha But that hangover…that hurt, Tom...that hurt. As always it was too short, but what can you doYes, preferably with Laundry List. Some ultra-cannibalism sounds mighty hilarious indeed, like clockwork orange but with birds! Oh my feathers!
My Nasdat is really rusty, so appy polly loggy, droog. Time to work on it again! :D
Also it's apparently Mort-time!…What was I thinking expecting an eerie Jeanne Chapter, time to grab the popcorn! -
@minus.:

Well, without our creativity we would be reduced to less then nothing! :v

how did you like it?As I said, I like it. I guess if it were a standalone comic it would feel a little aimless, or content-less. Nothing really worth while happens in it if you look at it as such I mean. But because it is a side comic it becomes like… a well done filler episode. It's like a little postcard from the gunnerkrigg world, which I love.

Also it's apparently Mort-time!…What was I thinking expecting an eerie Jeanne Chapter, time to grab the popcorn!I knew of the "nasdat" thing but no words beside "droog", had to look 'em up… What are you appy polly loggising for?
I wouldn't discount eerie Jeanneness just yet. :) -
Oh shit mort noooooooooo
-
Yeah I dunno, if I was Annie I would be looking for other career options. Her current biz seems a tad depressing. :ermm:
-
-
But how will have Mort Fun Time now ;_;
-
Well… That was unexpected. (I also love how people are going so crazy about it)
-

Well, it is rather… HOLY S...O_O
-
That was pretty nonchalant.
-
Suddenly …
A meteorite without a sound.....
-
! Hah, it is her father!
! … wow what a dick. -
-
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
-
What a douche .
-
The scar on his lip.
I wonder if that's from when Zimmy socked him in the face.
-
tony why you gotta be such a DICK
why
-
I dunno about you guys but seeing Carver take this shit in a "Doh, how embarrasing><" way is pissing me off and not in a good way. Not chewing his head off straight away is fine because there is some serious attachment issues she has with her dad. But I take issues with the artist presenting it in such a cutesy way. He did abandon her randomly for all this time just to come back randomly. A little less cute embarrassment and a little more struggling to hold back an emotional breakdown would be nice.
-
oh we gonna have a fight on our hands
-
Anthony's already got his face damaged, now we just need the rest of his head done the same.
Preferably lopped off.
-
WHAT ThE FUCK IS HAPPENING
-
Wow. He's only been back in his daughter's life for roughly an hour and he's already driven her insane.
-
I don't know what the fuck is going through the artist's mind to depict such horrific stuff like this with such stupidly cutesy art, I mean there's some serious conflict between the content and the art going on here, maybe he's trying to be ironic, I don't care whatever it is, it's distracting and kinda offensive.
Really, this man abandoned her for years, left her to deal with her mother's death by herself, comes straight back into her life to start shitting all over it and the way the artist chooses to portray this is with some stupid, goofy looking shit like this?
ughhhhh
-
It's mostly to portray an idea of what she's feeling, that what's happening to her feels so insane and impossible that it's almost unrealistic and that she feels like she has such little control that she might as well be floating through space
You might not like it but it's an effective and commonly used tool in comics (manga mostly)
-
Yeah, I completely get the point of the art, since this is all so sudden for Annie. She walks in to start class and, within the course of an hour or less, meets her father and has her entire life flipped over by him. She barely has the time to react before another detail of her life is torn apart by the dad she just met then and there. It's all so absurd that she's kind of lost in it. That's how I read it, anyways.
-
There are better ways to go about it imo It's too comical and absurd. It's completely taking me out of the drama of the situation.
Less cutesy facial expressions and silly whimsical metaphors, more realistic grounded drama please.
It's fine if you like it but it's sucking out the tension for me.
-
It is comical. It is absurd. There are a lot of feelings mixed in there and not all of them are FUCK YOU YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD.
-
The way I see it is… Annie has kept an independent and mature exterior since well.... Since the start of the series. Even before that since she didn't have any legal guardian around. Now that her dad is back, her mindset is reduced to that of a little girl. The art shifts and her expressions expresses that pretty damned well. Also what everyone else says
