This is the thread about the imfamous, over looked game called "Super Mario RPG" For those who don't know what this game is, let me explain: Mario starts off by saving the princess like always, then a giant sword comes crashing down into Bowsers castle, now Mario has to gather a team to save the world from a evil weapon maker, who destroys star road. If you want to know who your partners will be, you'll have to find out yourself by getting the game yourself, I suggest Rom-world.com. For those who know this game I'd like to know your honest opinion about it. I personally think that this game is pretty fun and has alot of depth to it. Cool characters and storyline. I'm surprised that they didn't make a sequel. Hmmmm, I just hope you guys feel the way I do, if you don't then give me "your" wisdom on the game….
Role Playing Mario

Oh cheesus, it has to be like, one of my favorite games of all time. >__> I'm angry they didn't make a sequel and just totally abandoned all the original characters and places that this game introduced.

This game is honestly one of my favorite RPG games of all time. All the different Mario characters using their various RPG style techniques were great. Aside from the straightfoward RPG, there were tons of side quests that were really fun and gave you all sorts of cool items. If you like the Mario world, this game is an excellent adaptation of it to an RPG format.
@LinkG07:I'm surprised that they didn't make a sequel.
I was always under the impression that Paper Mario was somewhat of a sequel (though not directly) to this one.

Ah, that was quite the fun game. Out of all the characters, Geno was definately my favorite (I still remember his "9999 trick"). Pity they don't rerelease it…

What was your favorite character?

A Sequel means with all the same-or a few new characters. I l possitvly love to fight with Geno. (Jean-no) His attacks rock!! Who here has beat the game?? Which characters did you use to do it?? I used Mallow and Peach. Mallow attacks both the head and body, and Peach did group hug every turn. I used Geno and Mallow as a test, but it failed, even at level 50. (The maximum.)
(You mean with his Geno Whirl?? I could never get that right…)

Overlooked game, my ass. Numerous people loved Super Mario RPG and it's damn near hard to get it at stores under 30 bucks.
And there's little chance of a sequel using the same characters as before since every new character introduced in that game, like Geno, Mallow, Booster, etc are all owned by Square-Enix and Nintendo would have to seek their permission to use them.
I liked to use Mario, Peach, and Bowser for my party.

The highest is 30 in the SNES version. xD
GENO was so awsome. My definite favorite character, and yeah the Geno Whirl was awsome xD I was sad I couldn't use it on the bosses though.

Yeah, it went under the title of 'Mario RPG2' until it's true name was revealed.

Why buy it when you can Rom it, sorry I just love that place too much, and I really wanna share it.
Here are some ?s:
1. What was your maximum super jump number? (Mine was 27
2. Weapon or magic. Which do you mostly use?? (Weapon for me.)
3. What is your favorite Geno Magic attack?? (That colerful attack is mine.)
4. Who thinks the Mario throw attack is funny?? (I LMAO everytime.)
5. Who thought Smithy was hard?? (Eh, for me…) -
Definantly one of my all-time favorites! One aspect I loved about it was seeing how things worked in Mario's world besides the side-scrolling, block-busting, Goomba-stomping of usual Mario game (which I love, don't get me wrong). It had a great story, good gameplay, and fantastic characters! A definite classic!
@Solar:
What was your favorite character?
Booster. Definantly Booster. It's me personified in the Mario universe…Plus he had kick-arse theme music!

Man, you had to love the Axem Rangers.. just 'cause when I first played it I was a Power Rangers kid. It's fun that now I can just breeze through the game in like, 10 hours. So whenever I want to play it over again it can be an all-day project.
But, indeed.. Paper Mario had 2, Mario and Luigi is getting its second.. it's about time for Mario RPG to get its second game. And if only Geno and Mallow would be let in Super Smash Brothers, too. But that's another topic..

Geno was probably one of my favorite characters from that game, Along with Jonathan Jones. I thought he was probably the coolest villain, probably because he's a shark. The rest of the game was pretty damn good, and I loved the ending.
Paper mario was also a great somewhat "Followup" game. I loved the fact that you could get badges to do certain things, and get those 8 party members to help complete your mission.
Never played PM2, but supposedly it looks good.

I never really played Super Mario RPG, but I did watch my friend and it ever did get me interested in it (she played it on a emulator). But I don't have zip at the moment so I can't play my roms, meaning that once I get my zip back then I'll definetly pick up Super Mario RPG.
The only mario rpg game I got is Mario & Luigi: superstar saga, and I can't wait till Mario & Luigi 2 comes out. One time my friend was beggining me to get Paper Mario 64…

I'm Playing It Right Now!!!
Yay!!! -
I'm trying to think of my favorite characters in each of those games…
Mario RPG: Playing as Bowser was awesome, plus he was a total powerhouse. Geno was pretty cool too, but Mallow was lame as hell. As for NPCs... I really liked Johnanthan Jones, the shark pirate. Frogfucius was cool too.
Paper Mario: It was all about the Koopa Bros. And Kolorado, he rocked my world.
Paper Mario 2: Admiral Bobbery was like my dream partner, a tough, seaweathered bob-omb. Other than him, I liked Crump,
Mario and Luigi: Man, I love this game. It's definitely my favorite of the Mario RPGs, so full of personality and fun. In this, I liked Popple, E. Gadd and his coffe shop.

What boss did you guys have trouble on…
I had trouble on Dodo and that giant green woman. I didn't really know that dodo would take one of my patners away. I was surprised, but I came out on top in the end... 5 pick me ups, and mushrooms later. That green giantess sure was fugly...Here are my character comentarys:
1. Mario is the main character and has a kick-a** arsenal of weapons and magic.
2. Mallow is pretty good with magic skills, but alittle bad on the defensive part.
3. Bowser is all about power and his magic works on status.
4. Peach/Toadstool works on healing and status, with good attack power to boot.
5. Geno has a well balanced match of attack and Magic, a good choice.I think the coolest enemies are the Axem Rangers too. They're pretty tough, and are really good advirsaries. It's also pretty funny how they all complain when you beat each of them.

I love the original RPG for Mario. ^_^ I've been meaning to replay it lately…just haven't gotten around to it. My favorite character was Peach, and I used her, Mario, and Geno the most. I also really liked Domino, the flamboyant boss that had the huge snake. And the Axem Rangers...who were just awesome.
I must say the Paper Mario series is much more spectacular, though. It's just so beautiful.
