Strongest Man Kurosawa
-
I'm enjoying the crap out of it. Though it's pretty depressing at how close at home it hits me since I feel the exact same way he does.
-
Depressing, but very good.
-
Beginning this.
So there's a lot in here for pathetic manga-reading dorks to empathise with (with which bla bla, don't reference my avatar please) but beyond that I really like the goofy main character's appearance and demeanour. It's pretty obvious even this early on that the author has put a lot of himself into this, and when it's this well executed that's very respectable.
Edit again: I hate mangafox so much.
-
A fully translated series by Fukumoto? Must read.
-
Terek  Fukumoto.
Pon Palace will appear in Kindai Mahjong someday…just you all wait.
A fully translated series by Fukumoto? Must read.
It's not fully translated.
I told my friend that, and he told me only a new volume had come out.
-
Very good serie, I love Fukumoto's work.
-

The only fully translated Fukumoto manga I know is his first series Ten. I'd kill for Akagi and Kaiji to be fully scanlated.
-
I've never been so proud of a guy who beats up middle schoolers.
I'm all caught up with the series, and Kurosawa's become incredibly more likeable throughout the course of the story; he's grown a lot.
Nakane's a great character too.
-
@Thousand:

God, that'd be awesome. Season two of the Kaiji anime would also rock.
-
What? Ugh.
I hate the fate of Fukumoto's works scanlate.
And meanwhile bad ongoing manga gets released five times a day.
-
I just read the first chapters, and i always really enjoy Fukumoto works like Kaiji, Akagi, One Outs and this one.
Hopefully i hope i gonna like this series more when i have time to read it. And Bring Season 2 off Kaiji God Dammit. You promised.
NU9lDCJrrr8Everytime I see the new fall list and Kaiji is not on the list. Then think back at this video. Witch makes more pissed off.

Eh, Fukumoto didn't do One Outs. It was done by Shinobu Kaitani, the same guy who does Liar Game.
-
Okay i didnt know that One Outs had a different mangaka.
-
Just read everything of it, and damn, this series pretty damn good. I'm not too fond on the art, but Kurowasa is one of these characters that I really want to have a happy end.
-
To confuse One Outs as a Fukumoto work?
I mean, if you want to find an absolutely unique style, Fukumoto is the first to come to mind.

Probably confused by the Mad House anime which was directed by the same guy who did Kaiji and Akagi and used the exact same styles with the funky colors and killer symbolism.
-
Magnificent read, I loved it! Until I hit the brick wall and noticed that there were no chapters avaivable…
I loved Kaiji to the death aswell. I bet Akagi must be brilliant aswell, is there anime of it btw? I did enjoy Kaiji animation so much.
-

Still, Kaitani's and Fukumoto's styles are almost opposites of each other. While Fukumoto's characters look very strong and bulk, almost as a caricature, Kaitani draws people with weak, subtle lines. I'd find it hard to confuse them. Like, at all.
-
He's good, but he's no Onani Master.
-
Volume 9 will be out soon in Hox scanlations, i'm actually editing chapter 69 right now.
-
Volume 9 owned. The last chapter where he called up everyone was badass as fuck.
And that was pretty cool when he caught the bat and spun it out of that guy's hand.
-
NOO! It ended in such a an amazing spot! Hot damn I wanted so much to read on… its going to be an all out war and I wonder how Kurosawa is going to persuade his underlings to fight out against homeless..
Volume 9 was pure brilliance from start to end, I really like this manga Fukumoto is so amazing and Kurosawa is perhaps best of his series yet.
All this homeless stuff reminded me about Homonculus, another amazing series that has been lacking updates for sometime now.
-
Chapter 70-73 are out (clicky). I'm doing chapter 76, so it'll be out in this week.
-
Yeah, Fluffypress is a great site. They really don't procrastinate when scanning new chapters of their series, and that's fucking awesome, especially for a great series like Kurosawa.
-
It was an interesting manga at the beginning, but it recently became very good. I really like the homeless story and the previous one. I wonder what kind of strategies he will use to beat those bikers, even with his friend, they are still outnumbered.
Kurosawa is one of the best Fukumoto's work, for sure.
-
Fuckin' great, can't wait to see how this war turns out. I really like how Kurosawa became a pretty decent street brawler thorough the manga. The trick with spinning the bat out of his hand was cool.
-
Some new chapters are out. As usual, that was great, the granny's story and Kurosawa's speech at the end made me want to fight with the homeless.
-
Oh man, I can't wait to read the newly translated parts. Thanks to the scanalators!
Edit: Seems like it's on mangafox now, by the way.
Edit 2: There's some Seven Samuari business going down in the park. No wonder his name is Kurosawa.

this is the greatest page of any manga ever
-
also the next volume will be translated next Wednesday, and then we'll be all caught up with the Japanese release
-
I hope the group picks up another Fukimoto work after it catches up with Kurosawa. Akagi or Kaiji maybe!!!
-
Words cannot descripe how epic these last chapters has been, shit I would want to be there fighting aswell…
Kurosawa is manga masterpiece... this is better than Kaiji and Akagi even...
-
I really like how things start to shape up. Can't wait to see how this little war will turn out, because I really doubt that the plan will go as smoothly as Kurowasa thinks. The boss seems to dangerous, expecting him to be the one to come up with a method against the homless. And I'm sure Akane is going to play a crucial part in all of this, maybe as a hostage.
-
Akane looks so ridiculous; one of the funniest character designs I've ever seen
anyway, this IS Kurosawa, meaning the plan will go off with a hitch. I bet that the gangsters will show up completely armed or something
-
Well, so far Kurosawa's plans didn't go THAT bad: his crazy stunt with the net at the bar went perfectly, and when he went LITERALY shit-crazy against those 3 wrestrlers, it also kind of "worked".
Remember that Sakaguchi praised him on his inventions and plans for this kind of situations, so if the fight goes bad, it will probably be because of the hoodlums losing their will to fight rather than Kurosawa's plan being a failure.

Well, in the manga world, normally plans that go unexplained until afterward go without a hitch. When they explain the plan to the audience, normally it won't go as planned. Or at the very least, it goes without a hitch, but a new circumstance arises that is not fully covered by the original plan.
This scene might foreshadow things to come:
http://www.mangareader.net/1698-56971-17/strongest-man-kurosawa/chapter-76.htmlThere's apparently a risk unaccounted for, but Kurosawa obviously planned for it. We're not told what it is, but the main plan would most likely fall back onto this mysterious circumstance.
-
^^
Probably right, yeah. And right after that, he checked on the gang's leader status. . .
I don't know how this will turn out, but I'm quite sure he'll come out victorious. Maybe the initial plan will fail and he will go with plan B, but he'll eventualy succeed. He was given so much shit during the firsts steps of the manga untill his beating, that anymore than that would be a complete abuse for poor Kurosawa.
-
Kurosawa looks like Foxy.
-
New volume tomorrow woooohooooo
also the new Mirai Nikki came out; it's on fluffypress too
-
I sent a message to fluffypress asking him whether he'd pick up another fukumoto work like Akagi or Kaiji after he catches up with Kurosawa. Apparently fluffypress is just one guy called Hox who's a bio major. Which is really surprising given the lightning speeds he does his releases. Dude wrote in an FAQ how he wouldn't do Kaiji as the anime has it covered. So that only leaves Akagi. Wouldn't hold my breath though as on guy taking care of the huge backlog of Akagi would be too much and the dude probably doesn't know Mahjong.
-
Wow, that is pretty impressive.
Also, if he won't do Kaiji since it has an anime, why would he do Akagi? -
Wow, that is pretty impressive.
Also, if he won't do Kaiji since it has an anime, why would he do Akagi?Because the Akagi anime ended early like in the middle of the manga with no foreseeable sequel unlike Kaiji just before the final 2 Han-chan sessions which are apparently super mega sweet Jesus awesome that makes the previous four look like absolute shit (and they were already great on their own)
No seriously here's a spoiler of what apparently happens not neccessarily in order
Note:Spoilered for a reason
! Akagi wins 5th round by over 120,000 points
Washizu gets an early 99,000 point lead in the 6th round
Washizu loses all his money and starts betting his own blood
Akagi goes over the limit. Twice.
Akagi dies. Twice. And comes back to life both goddamn times once
by having an extra 500cc of blood injected into him before the match due to his foresight of what the conditions would be and the other because he's goddamn motherfucking Akagi.
I hate that I was spoiled about what happened but seriously, this sounds goddamn legendary. I'd kill to read it:( -
So what if Kaiji has an anime? It covers only what, a third of the manga material?
-
Holy shit, that Akagi stuff sounds awesome. Also, I agree that both series should be scanalated. They're awesome! I especially love the mangaka's theme of powerful people bending the universe to their will.
-

At least Kaiji has a confirmed sequel in the works. Akagi on the other hand…:(

Problem is they have difficult Kanji and are wrought with mahjong terms and complex mahjong play. Makes translating quite the bitch. The irony is the more obscure Ten manga is fully scanlated which sucks because Ten was Fukumoto's first work where he was still trying to perfect his craft and Akagi is way more awesome.
I especially love the mangaka's theme of powerful people bending the universe to their will.
What I love the most about Fukumoto works is that they're the pinnacle of deep psychological thriller. Screw Urasawa, Fukumoto is boss when it comes to that genre.

That's true, the characters and their emotions always feel extremely realistic and thus have that much more impact. Kurosawa especially.
-
Little over a volume left. We're nearing the end ;_;
-
Started reading it and i have to say it
s rly worth the time. Great manga and the chara development of the main protagonist is just..awesome. And the one side i rly like is that it
s daily routine for so many people..so the manga is rly catching^^ -
Unfortunately, the penultimate volume of Kurosawa comes out today.
While waiting, enjoy this new Franken Fran: http://www.mediafire.com/?5q3zvtpdlzoh77u
