On Saturday I went to Little Tokyo in LA. Bought Penalty Life by the pillows, ate ramen, bought melon bread (it really was sticky) and tennenkoubo (natural yeast) bread (kinda alcohol-y), stuff like that.

But in a crowded souvenir shop, I found something that made my month–Mr. Prince glasses. Yellow lenses, emo frame, the whole caboodle. Of course, I'm not planning to cosplay anytime soon (saving money for something else), but I just couldn't resist. Only five dollars, but it's of pretty poor quality. (It's also made in Indonesia.)

Well I cosplayed Captain Kuro at Ayacon 5 this year in the UK. I got glomped by an Usopp, heh heh heh…

Thanks. I actually like it, design-wise. There's a lot of colour, well, more than black, gold and white, anyway ^^. Mind you, I had to sew it by hand or use fabric glue because I have no sewing machine, and my friend's had broke. But it works. Next year, I'm going to drag it out of retirement, make up the butler jacket for another day and then see about doing Sasarai from Suikoden 3.

And I wonder if there's a pic floating around of some shots that were taken at Aya - Kuro vs Luffy and Kuro vs Usopp, ha ha.

I missed my opportunity to 'kill' the Jango with a glomp, though ><

thanks everyone! i dunno, its my friend mich. she normally goes by the name pikacello and shes in the group, 'ramen and rice' we do a bunch of USA Musume stuff together. so you may have seen her luffy cosplay alotta places. her sister is the sanji, i think i have that in this picture:

we took them at reccacon, which i dont think is going on any longer, it was held in Pittsburg CA during the early spring. and i dont think i've seen any Gol D. Roger cosplay. but for the wooden shackles you can make them out of foam or foam core and use one of those wood texturing blocks to paint them to make them look like wood.

Is there any chance that there's a script or video for that floating around online? I know in our masquerade at Aya 5 there was a really cool Metal Gear Solid sketch, though no One Piece, unfortunatly.

Sorry about that. I saw in on LJ and didn't think it was one you'd made personally. If you want, I'll replace it. I might try my Kuro icon out. edit - got it up now. It billows ^^. I'm glad you like the Kuro coat. My finger doesn't. The boot's zips jammed with paint and I got finger blisters putting them on and off! : xd

oo and gorgeous kuro shakushi! you actually have the build for him~ kudos~ the claws look great too~ what are they made out of?

I think me having the build is creepy, considering I'm a girl. The claws are made from furry black fury fabric and cardboard which was painted. Anything more heavy, and I would not have been able to walk around the con with them.

Hah! I won't need it until ComicCon next year.. which will suck cause it means it's gonna be hot, but I will suffer for my cosplay! … I'll just need good deodorant.

yea, craft foam, carboard, PVC fittings, wire, electrical tape, masking tape (designer's best friend for evah… i never leave home without it XD), dark acetate for the lenses and 2 headbands...

loads of glue and paint involved too...

Yeah I need some really clear pics of the symboles on Usopp's trainer jacket thing … and I gotta try make googles too X3 my other half is gunna be Davy Back Sanji XD

I would have tried those things but after the many 'cock nose' comments, trying to walk down stairs and see past the nose.. and not being able to huge many people [short] I think I'd like to be able to take it on and off whenever I like…. XD

Okay, so I don't have a cosplay to put up yet (I'm working on it, though), I did find a pair of shoes that look very similar to Nami's standard pair, for anyone looking who might not have the time, patience, or resources to modify another pair.

They're by Nine West, so they'll probably be spendy if you manage to find a pair (I have a feeling they're not making them now since the fall stuff's coming out now), but if you can find them at a Ross or maybe on clearance somewhere, they seem like they'd be pretty good. Just wanted to share. ^^

Oh god, I have those sandals in black… Vivi and I found them at a thrift store, and.... they're 3 sizes too small but I bought them anyway because I couldn't pass it up XD They were made by Fioni though. Really similar shoe.
