i saw the OVA is all and im guessing you're supposed to have gone through the visual novels first because i didnt get too much out of it other than the fact that maria's life sucked

yeah I started out by watching the anime but by the time it ended I was addicted and had to find out what happened so I've started reading the VNs (though I'm not completely caught up- one of the VN chapters I didn't completely read through I just read the spoilers on it).

At first I was really reluctant to start the VNs because of the crappy animation and how long they are but…..
the people on /a/ were right:
after you've been reading the umineko VN for about 5 hours you are completely used to the animation and the troll faces and the ahahaha.wav
after 12 hours, you've grown to sort of love it.

oh and don't worry about RP x-over pairings.
I personally am a shipper for Gregory House x Beato.

Sorry guys, but I’m pissed. Very pissed.
Let me explain it: It’s Uminekos ending. And yes, I will put it in Spoilers, so do not read if you attend to play this VN. I’m serious; it will destroy everything for you.

! Where should I begin with? This ending as a whole is a fucking let down. Seriously, everything, EVERYTHING from Episode 1 to Episode 8 ends is an imagination of mid-age Battler? Are you fucking kidding me?? So everything, the theorizing, the speculation, the detective game for years wasn’t relevant at all? I want to struggle RK…
Really, Umineko is not a bad VN, not at all. The buildup is great, the characters are interesting and you actually care for them (even though it was really clustered at the end), the suspense is great and it is a good story. A really good story. But as a mystery? It failed really, really hard, especially with this ending and Episode 7. Riddles? Closed Room? What is that? Never ever happened, just a delusion from a broken man.
! Seriously, this is such a crack ending, it is unbelievable. As an outstanding ending for an episode it would be good (I must admit I didn’t play this Episode yet, ‘cause of lack of translation, but looking back at RKs previous episodes, I’m certain the execution will be good), but as a conclusion for the whole series it is fucking terrible. I didn’t expected answers, because the author said he wouldn’t give them so obviously like in Higurashi. But thats just plain horrible.

Really, it’s like an Evangelion Ending. Argh!

I love Umineko ! This is my favourite visual novel and it is the biggest slap in my life. For me, all the grimoires are excellent even if I have a little taste for the seventh.

My favorite characters are:

and Ange

I have the Episode 4 and the Episode 7 at home.
I eagerly await the translation of the eighth book of spells Witch Hunt by the team who did a remarkable job.
But I strongly regret having discovered the series with the animated.
