Ah, this manga is kinda old, and it's liscensed by VIZ but it's still a good'n. Anyobdy else here fans of Bastard? The manga kinda reminds me of Jojo in most aspects. The characters are named after heavy metal stars (Dark Schneider=a play on Dee Snider, Rushe=a play on RUSH, and thats just the tip of the iceberg.) as are the magic spells (Venom=The Death Metal Band Venom). It's set in a post apocolyptic Hokuto no Ken style world where people use magic to fight. The cool thing about this manga is, in another Jojo similarity, it started in Weekly Jump and to this day still runs on and off in Ultra Jump to this day. Anyone else fans?

I heard of it a loooooong time ago. Like, when Tekkaman came on U.S. tv.
Since then, I've only run into the manga once. There's a bunch of copies of a large reprint of the first volumes (kinda like the OP First Log) at a shop near me, but they're all wrapped up so I'd have to buy it first. I might one day, though.

I love me some Bastard!! very much. Picking out the referances without looking them up is hard, but fun. Hell, I don't even listen to metal, and still think it's fun. It was a pain to get into though, since I couldn't look through the books in any stores until someone returned one without the wrap. I want Lars to be MY sidekick dragon!

I read the first volume. I did notice the similarites but i liked HnK and Jojo better. ^_^
