I have noticed many people want to import an OP game, but have no idea how to play them on their system. I will provide a guide on how to do so.
Keep in mind that this is for American systems, and I am not sure of these directions could be used for European systems.
Now then, as you may know, systems these days have regional lockouts that don't allow you to play games from other countries. The game just doesn't load.
There are many ways of getting by this, either by using a swap disc, or by inserting a mod chip.
This guide is for using swap discs, because it is a less risky way of bypassing the lockout.
GAMECUBE
What you need:
"Free Loader" disc.
This is simple. Play Asia sells all that you need.
All that is to be done is to insert the "Free Loader" disc, turn the GC on, and insert your game when it tells you to.
PS2
What you need:
Flip Top cover AND Swap Magic CD
Now we get to something a bit difficult, but it's not as bad as it sounds.
Now then, a Flip Top, or as they call it a "Ghost case" is a replacement cover with a flip top lid, much like the original PSX.
There are cases for the original PS2 and the smaller version. Choose what color you like.
YOU MUST CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY CHART TO SEE WHAT VERSION OF THE SYSTEM YOU HAVE, OTHERWISE THE CASE MAY NOT FIT CORRECTLY.
Yes, you must remove the case and replace it with the flip top one.
The Swap Magic disc is the same as the Free Loader. Turn on the PS2 with the Swap disc inside, insert the game when told, and then hit the X Button.
Other things to note:
When I first got my Flip top and installed it, the small white disc in the flip lid was not the correct size. I just ended up using the one that was in the original case. Also, the little spring used to pop the lid open was in the way, and had to be removed. I am not sure if they have fixed the problem since then, but I am sharing this in case anyone else runs into problems.
Have Fun.
