I actually like it. I think it's artwork looks like Kubo Tite's art. The story's not that original, but hell, it's hard to find any kind of original manga any more.
-
I found it to be…....creepily nationalistic.
-
I feel the same. Though, I've only read 3 chapters.

It doesn't really have a plot, its just 20 pages of crazy shit every week. But yeah, I like it.

The title is obviously a pun…
-
I never thought of Gintama is a pun of Kintama o.O By the way, Gintama means silver souls, not balls -__-" Wrong character.
Anyway.
TV Anime "Gintama" will be aired from April on TV Tokyo. Director: Takamatsu Shinji; Production: Sunrise.
Congrats to all Gintama fans.
-
WHAT NATIONALITY IS YOUR MOTHER?!
Is it a TV series or and OAV? I heard it was an OAV. Of course, a TV series would RULE.

Look at the post above yours for your answer
A Gintama anime sounds neat! Maybe I'll download it when I get a true unlimited plan (none of that shaped shit)

I could never for the life of me figure out what the plot was. I know the basic point is to just be batshit crazy every week, but there must be SOME underlying plot to thread it all together. . . . can anybody enlighten me?
-
Silver souls? A Platonic reference, perhaps?
-
TV Opening will be peformed by Tommy Heavenly6 (That's her grunge rock-chick persona or whatever)
TV Ending will be peformed by Captain Straydum (Guys who did Naruto's 7th ED)
-
Anyone find an exact date, other than "Sometime in April"?
-
Apparently it'll start on April the 4th (Tuesday) at 7:00 pm on TV Tokyo.

I found this trailer
Gintoki: I wish I had a Ban Kai..
Hahaha.
I guess this premiered earlier tonight.
I've never read it, but now I kind of want to.
-
Thanks for that. I'll be sure to post when the torrent is out. The first ep is a one-hour special.
EDIT: Putting everything in one post now.
Saiyaman has the RAW out.
My review. I think it's pretty good. Gintoki sounds a bit weird at first, but his voice grew on me. It seems that this first episode is using a made-up story line, since Gintoki knows everyone already, and the plot is new. However, it looks like the next episode will follow the manga better, since some of the shots were the same.

too bad, no one seems want to sub this series
i'm also curious, i want to watch it
ah well, i think i will just start on the manga ~_~ -
An anime is out now you say? SWWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! I finally have a new anime to be excited about. XD (<– loves gintama)
-
check out the point blank tracker. Bakaneko has subbed the first (two?) episode
-
I'm so going to watch this series. Gintoki is so funny. I specially liked that chapter where they made One Piece references.
-
Just got done watching the first (and second, I guess) episode. I got interested when I saw Gintoki in Jump Super Stars, and even more so since I read the chapter that they had in the US Jump. Finally I've got something new to keep up with, first episode was great.
-
I can't see it. For some reason none of my players can read that damn MPEG-4 file. VLC Player does but it's slow, laggy and sometimes freeze. Damn I hate when videos are in that format.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Nothing seems to work.
-
Try Quicktime, that works for me and if that dosen't take care of it, google up a MPEG-4 codec.
-
Thank you. Sadly I tried to get MPEG-4 codecs but they seem to make things worst. It shows the sound well enough but there is no image.
I think I'll just hope someone make a normal avi format of the show or is nice enough to post it on you tube. I'm tired of messing with my computer all day.
-
So when does the english manga coming out?
-
No word on it yet, sadly. But, the good news: episode 3 is out.
-
Episode 4 has been released finally.
-
Wow. That took a while. Good episode, especially with Gintoki searching for a place that sold jump. I've had days like that >.<
I wonder if BakaNeko had some hangups or something that they couldn't release it sooner. I appreciate that they're subbing it, I just wonder what they're release schedual is like.
(Oh look, K-F has spoiled me -.-)

Try Media Player Classic or Zoomplayer, both are with the CCCP installer pack.

Where can find Japanese DVD covers? I just realized the first Gintama DVD comes out July 26 and was wondering where I could see the cover when it's released on the internet.
It's getting kind of annoying waiting for BakaNeko, but it's okay as long as the eps remain as well translated as eps 3 and 4. I'm reading the scanlated manga chapters now to tied myself over.
-
…Ummm, what happened to BakaNeko? It's like they're progress just up and disappeared on us. Anyone have any updates?
-
This post is deleted!
-
I asked around and apparently, the BakaNeko translator's computer died and she can't do anything until she gets a new one.
-
…
um, fansub necromancy much?
anyways, awesome. Hopefully this means they worked the bugs out and we can expect consistant releases!
-
HOLY CRAP ON CRAP CRACKER.
Gintama 6 has been released by BakaNeko. Fansubbers, prepare jump to ludicrous speed!
sorry for the double post
At this rate we'll be caught up in no time
-
Heh, if they keep this speed up, which I'd love.
I loved the joke about the new "Kintama" TV series.
-
Well I sure didn't see that coming.
Although I can't complain about the speed, nor should I.
Download on! I wonder if they'll do the episodes chapter by chapter. As long asI see more of the Zoro-like voiced Hijikata I am happy.
-
Watched the first 2 eps, pretty ridiculous show, definitely heard Zoro and Hatchi in there. It's caught my interest, but uh anyone know if it ever gets more serious later on? Like at all? :)

I've only been able to read up to chapter 24 of the manga, since that's all that's been scanlated, but episode 5 shows some signs of seriousness.
-
Yeah, while I can't say when, there will definately be more seriou moments as the main villain of the series makes his appearance later in the show.
This is kinda comparible to Katekyo Hitman: REBORN!, in how the first story arc was comedy heavy as it introduced all of the characters, and then got serious later on when their individual characters needed expanding.
