I want to learn Japanese one day.
Just a question, is it easy to pick up Japanese? Because I plan on taking courses on it in college or something.

it's easier to start when you're younger… it depends on how motivated you are too. if you're really really into trying to pick up things, it won't take you very long at all. try to find someone you can practice with and you'll pick things up even faster.

Club? Gaijin doesn't mean awesome Jap ya know…
It's fun listening to Japanized Japanese as a second language. (I don't think anybody who learn Japanese actually say that line.)
As for Jap, can't help it, don't be offended; many people use it online. I kinda gave up on it when my wife (wtf? :P) keeps using it even though I asked her not to use it so many times. It's just naturally easier to type Jap for shortened Japanese than typing alternative such as JPN. I don't know if HellBladeKnight intended, but yeah.

My coworker just went to study in Japan for a month with absolutely NO Japanese knowledge and when he came back, even though I knew he's genius, I was rather surprised at the amount of Japanese he learned. He can read children's book except having trouble with SFX. I'll make him read manga soon :D!

it's like saying "nig○er translators are very appreceated" it doesn't matter how many people do it or if it's widely used. it's not right.

It does seem pretty derogatory. You're a second generation Japanese American, aren't you, ooshi?

it does apply to japanese americans more than japanese (especially people who had family during/before ww2)… acutally my family came after the war (in the 70's) but it's still not right...

/me shrugs.
Up to you, I already adopted it. I know at least people around me don't mean it and they're just being lazy.

I was checking up all those translator exams site. Dang, those are expensive! And I have to join the membership (which cost money, of course) if I want to enter their competition. They even charge extra for people who live overseas. Wtf?

edit: me thinks you need a good understanding of japanese american history to understand "jap"
I know the background of Japanese American history. I did some readings and watched the video. I just don't care because even though what other people say about me, I'm me and I know I'm good. (Do/am I really!? :P)
You wouldn't have known after the first post. Maybe he didn't intend that. After you mentioned it, he really started. shrugs I'm rather patient. I wait couple of posts and try not to go so direct.
ps. If other people use faul language against me, I lead the conversation to more of joking so that we won't get any bad mood. It's easier to ask people do certain thing after becoming friends. Rather than just go straight to "no, don't do this, don't do this!" It's like… erm... Franky vs Usopp rather than Franky vs Sanji?? I'm sure Franky will listen to Usopp better than Sanji, at least up to current chapter.
ps2. Foreigners in Japan has similar situation, maybe worse in recent world. I was the only Taiwanese (or foreigner) in my area, so... I talked some other Taiwanese Japanese friends, and everyone experienced the same: just because we are Asian foreigner, we got bullied. Some, especially (weak?) girls got really bad treatment from others.
But then, you know, who cares, it's their loss not befriended with us. They'd lose (maybe) something important by not being friends with us (in this case, some international experience?) Let them do whatever they want. I'm proud of myself for being Taiwanese Japanese, the fact doesn't change.
Oh boy, what am I writing.

But you didn't live in that world, either, did you? Unless you are like 50 years old… Or recently moved to San Jose (cause I know it's worse in some part of the States), I don't think you experienced that, either. San Jose got too many Asians. Even my paster's mom borned (I think) and raised in San Jose until she wed to her husband, but she seemed to be okay with it o.o Even if she's not, at least I talked about those Taiwanese/Japanese racial background, she gave me ideas not to feel inferior. Anyway, I just want to say correcting bad behavior is good, but you should think about the situation. (Sigh, I'm ended up kinda taking same method as you -__-")

Oh, I couldn't explain it in Japanese @_@; Basically there was a bad plumbing accident at my house which I didn't know about till well after I got home - which first my brother accused me of and then got my father to turn on me, when my brother is the one who stays home all day long and should be the one who's getting questions asked. x_x;
The handbag… my favorite one had a strap break on it so I asked to get it fixed. I thought my father had brought it home after getting fixed but he brought me this new one instead... looked like something out of a Value Village from 1984. -_-;
Just random useless crap. Then I had to go to work and suffice it to say I really, really hate my job. So I come back home and it's just bleah.

Basically, it's just L'arc~en~ciel having fun…. a little too much fun at times lol. But it's when the members switch parts and they remake/remix (whatever) one of their songs to make it more "punk" lol. In p'unk~en~ciel, tetsu p'unk (lol) is the vocal, hyde p'unk plays guitar, yuki p'unk the bass, and Ken p'unk the drums. It's pretty amusing, and it's refreshing and fun to watch lol. Let's see, I think they've done Kasou, Heaven's drive, Round and round (joined by P'unk Aoki - Aoki Sayaka ...it's great lol - when they performed at Budoukan in January) and Milky Way.... I'm probably missing some but you get the idea, right? lol

You stop sucking at my intarweb and I'll think about it.
The truth is that most of you are gaijins, the entire Japanese culture IS racist against gaijins anyway. Thus you all have the wrong idea with learning Jap language. My friend is half-Japanese half-American and he gets no respect at all. Say he tries speaking with a vendor in Japanese, the guy will insist on english.
If you get pissed off at me saying "Jap" then you have a serious problem. If you let it get to you then you should probably disconnect your head from your body. I don't mean it as a deragotory term because it isn't.
OHH and great job to all who insult me in a different language. It shows great maturity on your part when I can't argue back.
Oh, it's just we love using English. When we (as in Japanese, I grew up in Japan) face foreigners, there'll be two type of people: people who are really shy or people who love to practice their English. I'm assuming sera would be the later example. One of my Japanese friends know I speak perfect Japanese, but she still wants to speak to me in English now so that she can practice her English.
And if you read my earlier post to ooshi, you'll know that I am 100% foreigner born and raised in Japan. Since I lived in a country side, I pretty much had very bad treatment. Some mothers didn't want their kids to play with me just because I'm a foreigner. Sad, but true. I know Japanese racism to my bones >_<; Maybe that's why I don't feel like making any Japanese girlfriends. I'm traumatized. I don't hate them, though, since I know they have their reason behind it.
Anyway, I'd like to ask you a favor. Some people don't care if they are being called for shit (like me, I don't care, probably I'll call you shit back lol). But after all, it's pretty sensitive to some people. So could you please respect others in here as well?
I apologize if you felt very uncomfortable seeing us typing in Japanese afterwards. We were actually just talking about what we ate for dinner ^^; My post was talking about Karaage (fried chicken) and some kind of soup, if you want to know.
Ahh why thank you. You are a pleasurable alternative to other mods who are pmsing. ^_^
I can try to respect others I guess. As long as they respect me back. Which won't happen since I've been branded a troll because I have actual gasp opinions! So I get no respect meaning I shall give none.
You sir, however have my utmost respect.
I just want people to realize that even if they do speak Japanese well enough, they will be branded as an outcast and not live in their "ideal" Japanese utopia.
It's just you started out bad. If you don't put the reasoning, people will think you're just messing around at other people's house. (ie. you jap, or i hate that manga cause it's a shit.)
Please try to be more reasonable to others as well. I think this forum as one big family, and I love every single members. We're too comfortable of having (sometimes too) nice people here and not used to cruel, straight words. And sometimes we don't have enough time to talk this much with every "straight" opinions. Their reason of thinking of you as a troll is because you didn't have enough words. I'm sure they'll reconsider if you specify them.
And because other people are being rude to you, that doesn't mean you have to be rude to others, either. I actually agree you are rude, or at least you sounded rude, but here I am, still talking normal to you, right? It applies to everyone… :| We're all human, so as long as we sit down and talk, we can understand each other. That's what I think.
Now, shall we go back to talk about something related to Japan?

Go ラルク!

I ended up not sleeping before I leave. By the time I found the raw, uploaded, asked Alex to make a post, and made the quick summary, it was already 4AM and I was supposed to leave at 5AM. Ha ha, too excited with new chapters ^^; But it was fruitful day though. I translated 3 chapters total (Death Note, Bleach, and The World is Mine).
Trip has been good so far. While girls shopped at mall, I went to BookOff and Kinokuniya. Bought The World is Mine manga (I still don't understand the manga, but I usually buy whatever my scanlation project), bought Oda's Color Walk 1 <33, and some other manga. In Kino, there were so many goodies of One Piece and Bleach, and I wonder why my local Kino doesn't carry them.
After that, I had some yummy Japanese ramen. Hmmm <3 LA sure has better taste than San Jose. I think I went to many of Ramen store in SF Bay Area, but the one I went today is the best Ramen I tasted in the States. It was still too salty though :P
Anyway, it's 3:33AM now, better go sleep -__- I slept only a little bit in the car yesterday… >_<

ところで、物理なんてできなくても大丈夫よ!社会に出てもなんも役にたってないから!^^;
