Didn't we get Pokemon Blue in the US? And Japan got Green?
Games you hate that are loved by everyone.
-
-
The Japanese Blue is a totally different game from the American Blue
-
How so?
16 characters.
-
I've actually heard aside from some minor graphical changes and different Pokemon location slightly, it ain't.
-
There's different pokemons in it
My point was that Pokemon Blue wasn't a direct localization of Pocket Monsters Ao.
-
Grand Theft Auto.
I am not one for coddling kiddies from any sort of violence or such and such, but I will NEVER endorse Grand Theft Auto. All it does is give video games and gamers a bad name. (although I do think that any parent who is stupid enough to buy this for their kid, at any age, has nobody to blame but themselves)
Note: I am in no way saying that this is a beloved game of APers (in fact I don't know how many people here actually play it). But it does sell like hotcakes, much to my chagrin.
-
Grand Theft Auto.
Take That Back!!!Nah, I'm just kidding.
I could never get into that game, either. -
Mostly Xbox games Halo and other stuff(I do like Blue Dragon and SNKvsCapcom Chaos)
Animal Crossing
Pikmin
Harvest Moon
Legend of Zelda
Real Sport games(I only like the ones with Mario)
Grand Theft Auto
Resident Evil(I do like Jill)
James Bond 007 games
Metal Gear
Silent Hill
God of War -
What's not fun about GTA?
-
How so?
16 characters.
Different sprites (we got Japanese Blue's sprites), different layout for Unknown Dungeon (which we got in our localization), different locations for Pokémon including different trades.
We got Japan's Red and Green. Except Green was merely renamed and recolored into Blue outside of Japan. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that Green is the outcast when it isn't. Red and Green came out at the same time in Japan and had some ass ugly sprites. It wasn't until Japan's Blue that the sprites got better looking.
-
Why would they remake a remake? Blue was a Japan-only title that had some things incorperated into international releases (such as the Pokémon sprites, Unknown Dungeon's layout, etc). It was also significantly different from Japan's Red and Green.
There was no need to remake that version when it was merely the first Pokémon game remake.
Still think it would've made more sense
Charmanander=Red
Squirtle=Blue
Bulbasaur=Greennow
Charmander=FireRed
Bulbasaur=Leafgreen

November 9th, 2007 10:29 PMI really hope Mario Hoops 3on3 isn't one of those games you like
oh and you spelled Bond wrong.I am not one for coddling kiddies from any sort of violence or such and such, but I will NEVER endorse Grand Theft Auto. I thought E.T.,SuperMan, & Gamespot gave video games a bad name, but in all seriousness it's your opinion.
What's not fun about GTA?
November 9th, 2007 10:46 PMIs that sarcasm or is that a straightforward question? either way that same question can be applied to the people who trashed God Of War and MGS (eventhough it does have some issues here & there)
-
@Sandai:

Charmanander=Red
Squirtle=Blue
Bulbasaur=Greennow
Charmander=FireRed
Bulbasaur=Leafgreen
Squirtle=????Blue came out quite some time after Red and Green in Japan. Making a remake to a remake would be rather pointless. In fact, Blue was only available to CoroCoro Comics subscribers in Japan.

Sonic
Mario Party
World of Warcraft
Halo 2
Games with turn-based attacking -
Define which Sonic as not a whole lot of people like the Sonic of now. :P
-
Sandai Mera - I meant a bad name in terms of giving anti-video game parents/ opposition groups something to work with in their campaign to end our fun. Any time somebody tries to make a case for the benefits of video games all they have to do is point at games like GTA.
What's not fun about GTA?
It's not a matter of whether it's fun or not, it's a matter of you have to draw the line somewhere on what you as a gamer are willing to play.

Well you gotta understand people are going to be intolerant of things they
don't fully understand i.e. Conservatives-Homosexuals,Illegal Immigrants,Human Rights etc. -
Sandai Mera on social issues

Hey it's not my fault that they've ruined this country along with most of the known world with they're idiotic views,actions,statements & opinions.

I like what happened right there.
and add Mortal Kombat to this topic.
At least the new ones which aren't as hilariously bad as the old ones.
-
How many times can I post Final Fantasy VII here before i get banned?
FINAL
FANTASY
FUCKING
VII
Buuhan, I love you isn't a strong enough sentiment here..

What did I say wrong?

Nothing.
Just the talk of intolerance of Conservatives being bad, than the "They've ruined this country" statement was funny to me.
-
Oh (just for further clarification I talking about the Right Wing Hacks.)
-
Those crazy Conservatives, with their elaborate schemes to ruin our country.
-

I hope your job was to successfully make me spit out my drink while laughing, because you just did. God, Bush makes the most unintentionally hilarious faces. :(

The thing about FF7 is there's really no justifiable way to really HATE it outside of retarded the fanbase is/Square-Enix's whoring of it/etc.
It's a good game.
-
I really liked the story behind FF7 and the way it was directed but the thing I hate about it and every FF game is the random battles, just can't get on with it. If you are into those types of games there is no reason to hate it.
-
Grand Theft Auto.

Just kidding. So, what do you think about 'Bully'?

It's a good game.
Unless you, you know, don't like the characters or the story.

Most game based on movies
Spider-Man(all),Transformers,The Godfather,&Scarface TWIY.
Goldeneye(the original) comes close to going on this list and for two reasons
1.It's a bit loose with the story (like most video games adapted from movies) & you can't do everthing that was done in the movie (like James chasing the plane in the opening sequence.)
2.Thanx to enormously large fanbase the game established in the years since it's release people have expected games released after Goldeneye in the Bond franchise to be somewhat the same in some way and criticize it when it's not like Everything or Nothing.
-
now thats one game I didn't expect, well maybe since most of the good memories of Goldeneye involve me and 3 friends playing it all endless hours of the night multiplayer mayhem

Oh hey, just like Virtual Fighter
-
Yeah, Goldeneye killed alot of my early teen years. The only game me and my 3 buds played constantly besides Smash Bros and No Mercy. Good times those were
-
I think most people liked Goldeneye more for being an awesome first person shooter, than for it being a Bond game. I think it basically started the genre off as a multiplayer one.(correct me if I'm wrong)
-
Who would normally expect Bond games to be good anyway
-

thats pretty much all we played for n64 also except it was perfect dark.

Proximity Mines forever!

@Radical:

That, Bomberman64 2 and Donkey Kong 64 are basically what my 5th and 6th grade memories consist of.
N64 was such an awesome system

almost forgot to mention Road Rash 64, god that game was a great memory
perhaps alternate of this thread should be made, games you love that are hated by everyone
-
@Cap'n:

The people who played Goldeneye and say that every game that came after it
sucked I mean people won't even give EA (as shady as they are) credit for
EON which an honest to good game. While where on the subject of EA, some more GYHTALBE Def Jam Icon & games in The NBA Street series that came after Vol.2 -
perhaps alternate of this thread should be made, games you love that are hated by everyone
Go for it.
This thread seems to have run out of steam anyways
-
Ugh, don't mention EA around me. They fuckin ruined the Def Jam series with Icon. God, why?
-
because its what EA is known for
-
You're telling me nothing that I don't already know.
-
Resident Evil, for reasons that I stated in the "Recommend a Game" thread.
I've rented the Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube (tis the season, after all), and in my opinion, it's not that great. It's nearly impossible to hit anything that you're aiming for, your character (Jill, in my case) controls like a tank, the enemies just won't die (I know they're zombies, but they should go down and stay down at some point), the zombies kill you in about four-five hits on the easiest difficulty, and the game gives you almost no indication of where to go (Barry said "if anything happens, we should meet [in the lobby]" and "I'll be investigating in the dining hall," but he wasn't in either of those places, and all of the doors are either locked or lead to empty rooms that are dead ends). Plus, the fact that you have a limited number of saves doesn't help my opinion of the game (I tend to save a lot so I don't have to do large sections of the game over again when I die). Personally, I like Resident Evil 4 a lot more than its predecessors, and I'm hoping that Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a lot better than this.
As well, the poor camera angles combined with the narrow hallways (I can't see, hear, or injure a zombie that's a foot in front of me if the camera angle makes it so the zombie is off-screen, and if I move forward, the path (wide enough for two people) is blocked by a zombie and a moveable statue that, if I tried to move it, would allow the zombie to take a large chunk out of my health) make the game's difficulty and frustration factor jump up several dozen notches, even on the easiest difficulty. I conserved my bullets, but that was only after I realized how futile it was to try to hurt the zombies, who don't even flinch at the bullets, and take a good 5-6 bullets (out of the 13 that you start with) before falling down and getting back up a minute later.
-
I used to think that the original RE games were to difficult to play
(and a bit scary at times) then I picked up the RE remake and started
blowing off zombie heads & gunning cerberus's down before they could leap on me (though it did take awhile).And then capcom made me made mad when I remembered that RE2 & 3 didn't get the same treatment that 1 & 0 got. -
@Bad-Beat:
What's to hate about them?
Yeah, let's not turn this into a "WHY DO YOU DISLIKE SEPHIROTH AND CLOUD STRIFE?" thread. That list would stretch into infinity.
-
I've got one. Legend of Zelda, a link to the past. I pretty much worked my way to the final stage, and just stopped.
