aww yeah, finally!
ththe US date is 7/28 for the DB DVD(sorry if this is old news)
Not sure if anyones seen this, but I subscribe to the DRAGONBALLPROTEST Channel on YouTube, which is a channel for protesting anything to do with Live Action DBZ Movies (obviously). And I saw this interesting little number here in my subscriptions just now:
7byY8Opstus
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did
I've always liked Sabat, now I like him more.
Best line:
"I love how they were able to explain how Goku got all his powers because he wanted to finger Chi-chi or something like that."
Sabat rocks.
ITT: A voice actor whose in part responsible for the terrible Dragonball dub where they never say anything close to the original is complaining about a movie that isn't close to the original.
Wait- WHAT?
As they say, it takes one to know one, so his opinion is probably best.

Wait- WHAT?
It's still the original anime and the dub is still better the the live-action movie.

Wait- WHAT?
Dragon Ball's dub was a lot closer to the original than Dragon Ball Z's. Since the movie in question focuses more on DB, the comment about DBZ's dub is irrelevant.
Especially since there were a whole lot more problems with that dub than just the voice cast/direction.
I meant Z.
but anywho, who here thinks they're actually gonna use a kid for goku this time around?
Sure, because if Fox cares so little about making a good movie, then they also don't give a shit about continuity, right?
but anywho, who here thinks they're actually gonna use a kid for goku this time around?
Wait what? Did I miss anything I thought Fox was done with that crap of a movie(?) If anything get that guy who directed Iron Man to do the movie! I'm sorry but that was the damn best Marvel Adaptation since…...Wait.....It's actually the first! lol
They said they were starting over I thought. Or did I miss something? O_o
This movie sucked sorry to say. Regardless if the dub version was better or not it still lame.
Saw the movie last night. As bad as people said, but also not as a bad as people made it out to be. Movies like this is why I don't take personal opinions on movies too seriously, cause with this, you'd think your eyes would melt from your skull upon watching.
Interestingly, I think this film can be salvaged to be "better", it wont ever be great, but still. I'm thinking of making a fan-edit. What's there to lose? A film's reputation? BAHAHAHAHA!

Indeed, I enjoyed it slightly too.
I mean i enjoyed seeing my favourite Manga Characters ever onscreen.
And seeing James Marsters as a kickass Piccolo whether the movie was good or not !
The next ones should be a bit more dark maybe, more … serious, or gripping, I'm not sure, but something to lift it's status, because yeah, everyone does tak about it awfully, and until it gets a great sequel, everyone will keep thinking it's a waste of time, sadly :(

There weren't the same characters as the manga version, with the exception of maybe Roshi.

Really? Nah I'm pretty sure your not serious.

It can be darker all it wants, but darker is not always better, unless handled correctly.

This will never happen.

Dude, stop being so negative. they were the same characters, no matte how badly they were done. And I didn't say there would be a 'great sequel' I said 'until.'
If you don't want a great sequel, then chances are you won't get one.
You have to have some hope instead of being so critical, I know the movie was bad, but we don't know that the next one won't be amazingly awesome, don't turn your lights off yet man, there an still be hope :)

I envy your optimism. Though this is unlikely, but hey who knows.
But really I think the sequel is going to bad, but I wasn't trying be negative just realistic.
I could explain why, but I feel it wouldn't worth your time.
I want a reboot. But its too soon.
I want a reboot. But its too soon.
yeah, you're right, it would just be too soon.
People would still remember the first one as a failure if they simply rebooted right after it. But hey, who knows perhaps they can still salvage the sequels :)
I found Chow's Roshi awful. On one of the interviews Chatwin did which you can see on the DVD he commented on how he pretty much "invented" the character by over-acting and Chatwin doubted the entire time it would work, but ended up liking it when he saw the film.
All and all, I don't think Chatwin's that bad a guy. The interviews, bloopers and all that makes you realize they ARE human beings. During the same interview Justin commented on how his friend showed him an online forum and said how much they hated him, Justin said he chewed off all his nails but ultimately got his head out of the drain and realized he can't let it get to him. In this regard, we might have made him worse in the role with those comments in his head. XD
Tho I haven't really seen him in many things, for him it may come down to direction, and he may be good with a good director and script. Most of the deleted scenes are actually quite good, and I felt would have made the film better to be included… tho with some editing. For example, during their meeting Goku makes fun of Bulma's name like in the original... but in the same scene when asked who invented the light bulb he answered "Thomas Edison, everyone knows that."
I do approve of one character change, and that is Yamcha. Turning him into a country bumpkin who doesn't really fight at all I felt was a nice contrast to the original character who fought, but just got his ass kicked.
Also, the chicken eating scene which we liked so much from the picture did predicablely become the best scene in the film.
Bulma: He's not listed. I tried every possible spelling of "Roshi".
Goku: Try "Master".
Bulma: …
Goku: ...M...A...S...T
The scene was just so Goku, ironic he'd be eating in it too. Tho, I wonder if Goku could spell Master… I was really disappointed in the ending, the fight with Piccolo... wasn't one at all. Chi-chi's fight was more of a fight for Christ sake. This saddened me even more when I saw additional footage during the bloopers which showed it originally WAS going to be a fight.
I hear there's an hour and a half directors' cut, is anymore additional footage available in it that wasn't in the deleted scenes? I'd say so considering it's an hour and a half, the cut version was an hour and 10, and the deleted scenes were only about 5 minutes.
this is so shit. the only thing that makes it a little watchable is chichis boobs
She had boobs? I was too distracted by her painful acting to notice.
Lol, Saw that Sabat-Hatin video, he's hilarious "Goku wanted to finger Chi-Chi ! LOL!"
Just goes to show, he's as much a diehard anime fan as any of us !
Still, we can make fun of the actors all we want as long as we accept the fact they worked really hard for the film. I think it was 5 hours of training a day (for Chatwin and the chick who plays Chi-Chi at least), Chatwin also said he could have nothing but protein for 5 months.

Yeah to be fair, they did. I think in the end it all came down to script and the style of editing the film. They did do some hard work, and it just really shows nobody knows how something's gonna work out.
And yeah, they must have done some research, since they all knew about the Mafuba ! And i found that Video Extra of them doing the Mafuuba Dance, hilarious !

I actually mean't the way the character was written akin to his comic counterpart. I have neutral opinions on how he was portrayed/acted however.

Since when does staring a bad movie based upon an oriental comic makes dehumanizes them?
Chatwin was pretty good as Goku, the problem was that he acted from a poor source Goku. They should have made Goku a kid like the original comic and thats not to say that every thing has to be like the original comic
I loved Path to Power, it kept the spirt of the characters alive well and it manage to tell the story in an excellent and condensed form. All of it flowed naturally. The film should have been THAT.

Heh. America still doesn't exist in Dragon Ball, and this mostly a gag if anything.
I agree that scene needed editing. Forgive the poor quality of the scan.

.
Toriyama's rule: Yamacha always loses.
I was kinda appalled by the change but hey…..

It was pretty meh. There was one fight that was poor Dragon Ball, though I forget.

It still wouldn't help save this film, if anything.
She had boobs? I was too distracted by her painful acting to notice.
Yes she had some little white top on and a pair of nice boobs under that's all i looked at( might add that i was zapping on my tv and this movie showed up I was never planning to watch it and i did not watch more than the kame kame ha training). For some reason there was a shape shifter there aswell I dont remember her from DBZ and I never really watched normal DB maybe shes that girl with 2 personalities that hangs out with forehead eye guy
One thing that made this movie horribly wrong was that YAMCHA WON. He killed MAI, THE UNIVERSE SHOULD HAVE IMPLODED.
and Gabe… good god man. You need to get on the dragonball wagon, you've been missing the one of the best parts of the story.
The shape shifter is Puar, it's a floating fox that went to the same shifting school as Oolong the Pig.
Lunch is the girl with 2 personalities that changes when she sneezes. After seeing Tienshenhan's Ruthlessness in the Budokai she fell in love with him.
However, Mai in ThIS movie is the shape shifter when in actuality Mai is just some grunt of emperor Pilaf. A small blue dwarf with a lot of money.
But seriously, go find a way to watch/read dragonball fast, it's awesome and you won't regret it.
Wow we're still talking about this garbage movie? If you're planning on buying this movie don't. Save it for FUNi's release of the Dragon Ball Season One Box Set. (Yes I said that! The original first 13 Episodes are there!)
Wait… how is this movie on TV already, Gabbe? Where you live, bro?
Welp, the movie is making money. I don't know the DVD sales, but it is #4 on the top 5 rented movies on Comcast on demand this week. Considering it's $5 for SD and $6 for HD that tallys up. Just fyi, Watchmen was #2.
Also, I've spent a bit on the film too. I rented it and Watchmen at Redbox over a week ago and still haven't returned.

Everytime I pass a Dragonball Evolution DVD at Wal-Mart or Blockbuster, I fart on it.
Not kidding. Ask my girlfriend.
What do you do when you pass a RedBox?
You don't wanna know. :ninja:
