I'd like to know if anyone here is heading over to A-cen in Chicago in a couple weeks. I'm meeting a couple hardcore OP fans over there, it would be neat to make an occasion out of it. Hopefully you're not a n00b or something equally as embarrassing. That's right, I'm letting my elitism run rampant, bwahahaha. I was considering acen but don't feel up to a road trip anymore. Don't know what my money situation will be like either and it would suck to go and have no spending cash. Not to mention that I'd feel kind of stupid being twice the age of most of the people there :P .

Really? How old are you? I see some REALLY, really old people at these things… even if some of them are a little creepy (mostly because they don't bathe). Hell, almost all YOUNG otaku are creepy.
33, almost 34. Running on assumptions since I've never hit an anime con before. I hit the comic cons a lot and feel out of place there but in a much better way. None of the negative things you can say about a stereotypical comic geek apply (and I say that with great pride :lol: ).
The non-bathing anime geeks sound too painfully like the non-bathing comic geeks.
Maybe the crowds are more similar than I thought. :ph34r:
curse finals and me not seeing this thread until i just get back from anime central. and i even dressed up for it to… didn't see a nami though so i don't think i saw you.
i just went today though... oh wait i hope you weren't in that group of one piece fans ealry in the morning because they asked me to get a picture and i said i would be right back after i registered (which took about 2 or 3 hours) and if so i'm sorry because i never saw any of them again so they never got their picture of pandaman.

I searched to forum, but since the last Acen topic was back in 2005 for the last Acen, I figured I'd go ahead and make a new thread for this year's.
Acen 2006 is coming up, May 5-7. I'll be attending it with my girlfriend, and I'm just wondering if I'll run into any of you guys up there.
I live in Florida, so I'll be flying up there. It'll be my second con. It'll be a fun experience, but it'd be more fun if I could chat with one or two of you while I'm there.
I am going! And so is Devil's Fruit Grower! Yay how exciting. Three AP people will be there at least! The One Piece photo shoot is at 10 am on Saturday and the room party will directly follow the masquerade on Saturday night. No ninjas allowed. :P
Wish I had a One Piece cosplay…. but it's too hard to find good characters to cosplay from it with meh super-long hair. So far, it looks like I'm going as Hohenheim again.
Like Omni said. I'm going. I finally GOt my costume all figured out! I'm going as Johnny. This is my first Con experience. And REAL cosplay. I just need to make his sword. All I need is some Ply wood.

I will be there Thursday through Sunday. Thursday I am not cosplaying, as of course that isn't the con. Friday I will be Nami (don't know what costume.) Saturday I will be Nami again (different costume, don't know which one.) Saturday I will be Chii. Also I will be Chii for a couple hours of friday for the Chobits photoshoot. And I might steal one of my boyfriend's costumes for a couple hours.

As of now, we will be lighting candles on Luffy's cake May 5th (friday night of the con) at 7pm on the second floor. So just look for a bunch of people cosplaying as One Piece characters gathered around.

There is… my girlfriend's been to Acen before, and her friends didn't pre-reg last year, so they just did it there. Apparently, though, regular registration takes a lot longer than pre-reging. But oh well, gotta do what ya gotta do.
They have express reg for those who missed pre-reg. But I don't know how it works though.

ACEN is next week! Yay! I will be dressed as Nami on Friday and Saturday, so look around for me (even though I will be one of a million Nami's lol)
Reminder: Photo shoot will be Saturday ten am at the parking lot island. And Friday will be the lighting of Luffy's cake. Then Saturday after the masquerade will be the room party. If you plan on going to the room party please let me know, so I can tell the host.
I don't think I'll be able to cosplay this con, which sucks, but oh well.
I'll try to make it to the cake thing at least. I'll be dragging along my girlfriend; nobody kill her, she'll be dressed as a Naruto character.

I'm not 100% sure I'm going now. I knew that Report cards would either confirm or deny my presense there. So far it looks like It denied it. I "registered" But I havn't payed yet. My dad refuses to send money though the mail system. He says we'll just pay upfront next thrusday. Depending weather I'm going or not…... I had a BIG feeling that he'd go back on his promise due to report cards coming out two weeks before.
btw, If I do go, I'll have a friend with me. But he's going as some Character from Bleach. Which Nami are you Going As Omni? Just so I know.
Be warned, Regular Registration can take FOREVER. Last year I stood in line for over 3 hours (10 AM - 1:30 PM), so you might wanna bring something to do. I pre-registered this year.

lol I like Naruto, so I won't kill your girlfriend. Can't guarantee the others won't try though lol. I will be W7 Nami one day and Skypiea Nami (yellow shirt not bikini top.) another. I haven't decided which day I am doing what. The arabasta costume and I are currently not speaking to each other, so I won't have that one finished for ACEN 2k6. heh.
