When you pick a character there's some numbers underneath them, just change that option.

How do you change outfits? Becuase I remember playing as Chopper with a little cape and I don't remember how I did it….
When you´re in the Character Select screen, you´ll see two bars under your character. The first of them is to switch between the 4 different outfits, and the second is to choose between the three decks(there´s also a "random" deck, but I´m not sure if it´s too in story mode)
-
So that´s it? It´s only an online-mulitplayer mode? What the hell are people whining about then by saying it sucks if it doesn´t have any? The gameplay would be the same either way wouldn´t it? Thanks for the explenations.
Well the way I see it, Wi-Fi lets you play against other people you don't know, which is far better than playing the computer. There just some things a computer can't do that humans can when it comes to gaming. Plus it's more fun playing against someone else, knowing that you're betting SOMEONE instead of a computer :P
-
Ooh..the simpler days when men bragged their greatness for beating a computer.

In some games, but in this, I don't think the system allows for much innovation.
but bragging rights on the forums would be fun.

Get the rest of the cards. i dunno.
-
I ordered my copy from Play-asia yesterday, and i've been wondering, "What if I don't understand the long and important cutscenes?" or what if I don't understand menu options and all the things that have a LOT of japanese writing?" I might be able to figure it out by myslef, but can someone make a translation for the game? And if someone already did, i'm sorry, I couldn't find it.

This is strange, because I got Brook even with having had less then 127 cards. I just got max. bounties for all the Strawhats and afterwards beat the story mode with a non-Strawhat character. And then he was there.
-

Gimme the game and a DS and I'll gladly do it! ^_____^
Nah, though I would really want to, I can't see myself getting it anytime soon because of school and stuff. It is on my list though, but it'll be some time before I go through with it.
Cheers to someone who does it in the meantime!
-
I got the rom, and played through Franky's story, despite the crazy lagg.. And it was kinda boring.
I dunno if it was because it was lagging, or the game itself. well, yeah, it was the game. There just wasnt enough moves. Also, there arent any really important cutscenes, and it autosaves, so no need to worry there.
-
so i have now brook….. i must complete one more time an story of a charakter, and now i habe brook.... he is very cool....
yeah brook rocks!

You won't have any problems. I can't understand a single katakana and I can tell you every menu and every option blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back. Yeah, it's easy. I've maxed out Luffy, Zoro and Nami's bounties, and I'm getting closer with Franky every second. Oh boy, I can't wait! All this work is tiresome but it'll be so worth it when I get Brook!
-
I have NEARLY finished the game now. Maxed out Ace's bounty, working on Shanks (I know this is kinda pointless, but I do want to get all bounties maxed). Can't wait to get Brook. That skeleton is made of utter and complete win.

You only have to max out the strawhats bounties to get Brooke, you know.
-
Does anyone know how to get the last two cards in the game (129, 130)?
-
When you guys ordered what payment method did you use? On play-asia I ordered on the 17 and it still says payment confirmed, waiting for credit. How long till the credit goes through? I used paypal and have never ordered an import game before so any help would be great. Thanks.
-
Well it has been a while so I just went back and tried it with just the visa. Now it says order completed so maybe there was just no money in my paypal account. Hopefully they will ship it now. I cant wait to get this game!
-
I'm aware that I only have to max out the Straw Hat bounties. But maxing out the other bounties get's you a special card, I think. So I'm doing it for that.
-

You can finish the game with any character to unlock him.
-
The One Piece Gear Spirit Official Website is updated and has new info on more cards. Just find the translated page on google or something to read it in english but some cards might not make sense. Brook's chracter now shows his level 2 special now instead of that pop up.
-
That's cool, I can't wait to unlock him. I'm in the 300,000,000's with Robin, not much longer, Yohoho.
-
The one piece gear spirit website updated its card list again but there are 5 unknown cards, 3 of them are Brooke's but I still don't know what the other two are…
http://www.bandaigames.channel.or.jp/list/ds_onepiece/ -
….......please...for the love of god...do something about that link.
-
Finally, the last two cards are Monkey D. Dragon and a shadow of luffy i think without his hat. How to unlock them? I don't know.
-
Anyone know how to get those cards though? I tried virtually everything. Story, arcade, maxing bounties, and still nothing. (I was the guy who uploaded the save at Gamefaqs btw.)
-
I have gotten the game!
(A few months ago as a matter of fact.)
Maxing Bounties now.
-
Hi, sorry for reviving a dead thread but I have a quick question.
Does this game have single cart multiplayer, I remember reading someone mentioning it earlier in the thread but not sure if it was confirmed or not. Thanks!
-
Like when you have the game and your friend doesn't, you can still play otgether? I don't think so. It's not Wi-Fi.
Don't worry, you have been forgiven. (I like Godot more XD)
EDIT: My logic has been proven wrong.
-
Yes, there is. But it's stupidly restricted to playing as Luffy and Zoro on the Enies Lobby stage. With a premade beginner level deck. I've only played Single Card twice though.
-
cool, wonder if they will be coming out with an American version
-
I plan on getting this game. I know its been given bad reviews but I'm easy to please.
I would like to know what are the 3 specials for each character?
The ones I know already are the StrawHats including Brook, Shanks, and Vivi's, and Luccis.
I just need to know the other special for the other characters.

The game is fully emulated on NO$GBA 2.6a, I've played the first two matches with Franky and everyone's opinion so far is spot on. The game isn't that good, and I'm not even talking about the graphics. The gameplay feels very restricting, like you're fighting after running 200 miles and repeatedly lifting 500lbs. The sound effects are also headache inducing.
Right now I'm just trying to find out how to save due to the game being in Japanese.
-
I haven't played the game for a long time, but I do remember it was satisfying for half an hour at most. I wasn't even motivated to unlock Blackbeard or Brooke. Unlocked Ace and his 3 card specials and… that's kinda where I stopped.
-
I bought my copy a few weeks ago off eBay. It's good for about 15 minutes of beating up characters I don't like
-
It's a shame when a One Piece game ends up sucking… I went from this back to Jump Ultimate Stars. Holy fuck, what a difference.
-
Just played it on a DS emu. Its just as everyone said. A very average game. :(
Anyways, here's some playthrough vids that I did just in case anyone is interested:

I'M JEALOUS! The fights are very lagged for me, most I get is 70%. I bet you have a graphic card or something. I have built in graphics.
-
Yes I do, and its a very powerfull one. It came with my computer.
-
I received it last month and yes, as you said, a bad game.
I'm not gonna say horrible because only Fighting for One Piece deserves that title. The only good thing is the wide selection of characters but still…
Unless you play with a friend the game gets boring in one day, the CPU's AI is beyond retarded, throw them away from the arena, they won't even try to save themselves with the double jump, and unless they get their 3rd special attack card in the beginning they won't use any special attacks at all.
Also, the faces are completely static and inexpressives, even the first Grand Battle from 2001 gave the characters expressions when hit or when using special attacks, it's painful watching Franky taunting and using Ultimate Hammer while making this face:
:<
The sound effects? Cover your ears everybody! Specially if all 4 characters are attacking on-screen. And did you hear the SFX in Ace's 2nd special attack? It's an ATARI 2600 SFX!!
And about special attacks, would it be just too difficult to at least include the character receiving the attack?? Just like in every other game?? Many special attacks look absurd just because of this, like Smoker's 3rd special attack, ok, he creates a white mist and... BAM! The opponent suddenly dies!
The game is also very unrewarding, the ending is just... lazy, they could at least make differents images for each character, just like the first Grand Battle where the endings were just like that, a pic of the character while you hear a quote, but no, the same straw hat crew pic for everyone.
Oh, and about unlocking Brook and the star cards, oh god, why do bad games think that "keep playing the same thing over and over and over again to unlock things" is the way to go? Getting max bounty with everyone is both time consuming and extremely boring.
At last, Brook, the biggest disappoint in the game, many anime games have done this but it's still annoying, they put a character too soon and what happens? They still don't know any attacks from him so we get an skeleton that attacks with a cane and by running onto people, and what's that 3rd special attack? Is he using his devil fruit power to summon the souls of the dead? WTF Bandai, WTF?
So yeah, I didn't like it.
-
I've owned the game for some time now, and I think it's amazing. Maybe the emulator sucks, but I love the game.
-
By the way, nobody mentioned it, but I think I know how to get those last two cards, Dragon and Klabautermann.
I got Dragon, when you select the Sunny stage VERY RARELY you'll fight Luffy in Gear 2nd in a 1 on 1 match, his health bar is really long and he's stronger and faster than normal Luffy (also he has pink skin), I don't know if there is any special requirement, so far I've encountered him twice. Anyway, first time I beat him I got the Dragon card, second time I didn't get anything special, I was playing on Normal difficulty. I THINK you'll get the Klabautermann card when you beat him in Hard difficulty but I've yet to encounter him again to test this.
-
You have to use Shanks in a certain order with all stages unlocked in his "story mode" I don't remember what stages you have to do but I know that the last stage is on Banaro Island. You fight Shanks like that gear 2nd version of Luffy. Oh, It's a straw hat card, not Klabautermann, the website is misleading.
-
Wait, you have to use Shanks or you fight Shanks (using any character)?
-
You have to use Shanks and you'll have to face Shanks one on one like the gear 2nd luffy fight.
For Dragon's card, you use Luffy and Do the stages in the following order: Logue Town, Rocketman, Enies Lobby Roof, Inner Enies Lobby, Thousand Sunny go.
In case anyone else needed this. I forgot Shanks' path to get the straw hat card.
