Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

I'm pretty sure the manga is just an adaptation from the anime. The anime started to itself.
Oh, ava size limit T_T
So much for using this here in AP…. (Using it in NF)

This is Taleran's old post regarding the "third setting booklet" 'spoilers' as was said that started floating around shortly before episode eighteen aired. Suffice to say, these 'spoilers' appear quite prophetic and I feel you all might be curious reading them again.
Joke from 2ch indeed, methinks Gainax is starting to poke fun at us again.

Behold the Simon Punch in all his beautiful glory
!
Too bad it´s too big to use it as an avatar/signature -
Rossiu is more GAR than Simon.
Discuss the reasons behind this. -
-
Speaking of weird sexual fetishes, where's my Diebuster x Super Galactic Gurren-Lagann H-doujins???
-
Diebuster? Please. Give me Noriko and Jung anyday. Their paths could cross during a warp/blackhole!
-
Bad news, folks.
! This week's GL radio show had a very interesting comment about the first episode.
! Kakihara, the VA for Simon and the host of the show, said that the scene at the first episode where you see him as captain and the sub-commander, is a "parallel world" and not the real Simon.
! So the chance of seeing that second-in-command beastman lessens even more.DVD commentary for that scene basically confirms it, it's a red-herring and probably won't happen in the series. Which means…CLOWN SUITS ARE FOREVER!
-
..aww. That sucks. I was wondering how they'd pick that guy up..
..Clown suits?
They're not that bad.. -
I'm ok with this.
-
The only one I don't like is Viral's. Darlakka, Yoko, and Simon all look great.
Darlakka looks like some sort of awesomely cheesy 1940s super hero, which I think is really cool.
-
Doesn't matter if the glimpse we saw at the beginning isn't going to be a "real" outcome. All that matters is that Simon becomes a similar kind of bad ass, and that's being realized. It'll be amazing.
And I think they'll reuse that "so the lights in heaven are our enemy" line because it's too great to not reuse.
-
So why did they show that parallel world at the beginning? To have us fooled?
-
Gainax is weird, they don't need reasons for doing things. Just as long as they keep producing gems like FLCL and TTGL.
And that scene by itself is pretty incredible.
-
The parallel world thing was probably shown, probably to give us a glimpse of the series in a distant future, in the actual series's universe at least. Damn, all this alternate universe talk is reminding me of AU Fanfics.
-
Or they'll drill a hole to said other dimension, and a hundred laganns will gattai with eachother.
-
@Kei - my own theory is "Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann" combines with the Milky Way galaxy, which extends to become a massive drill that pierces multiple dimensions to ruin the final enemies of the series.
@Cap'n:

I'm jumping the gun, so I won't let the news bother me until at least after twenty four has aired, but I'm worried for four main reasons.
1. We don't meet the mysterious Beastman sub-commander. With only twenty four seconds of screen-time, he's sure generated a lot of curiosity.
2. Garlock and Simon of twenty four aren't exactly the same. If Simon becomes the cocky, confident (yet capable) badarse he was in the first episode, everything would be fine, but our current Simon still feels like how he was when he was younger - well meaning, kind of innocent, big on friendship. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just the aloof version was a lot cooler.
3. No "Great Dimensional Government".
4. Mentioning parallel worlds opens up the possibility for a LOL GAINAX ending. Since the beginning of the show, people were speculating on the "time loop" issue, where Garlock ripped asunder his universe's reality and it got rewritten into our current Gurren-Lagann incarnation. Which means twenty seven could end with the lines, "Day after day, all I do is dig…"That is, of course, the worst case scenario, but it's probably the one most GL fans are afraid of - that GL follows the footsteps of Eva, Abenobashi and Mahoromatic with a surreal/ambiguous ending and not a sub-optimal but nevertheless good one that was seen in the OVAs FLCL, Gunbuster and Diebuster.
Of course, I still adore the original Garlock's costume and his not-so-camel-like chin, but our current Simon is fine too.
-
The first episode Simon was probably an 'eventual' simon. The story will probably end with him continuing to fight enemies forever or something.
-
I hope not. I really have hopes for a conclusive ending :/
-
that's part of the reason they anchor'd certain characters at earth, so the mains have something to go back to
-
Simon is wearing a corset. :|

I considered that, but two statements move me away from it:
1. Gainax has said numerous times GL's ending won't be something like a bridge to a second season, the final arc will conclude itself. How…I'm not sure. It could be ambiguous/surreal, or it could be conclusive.
2. Rossiu's voice actress will make a reappearence in episode twenty seven. This is consistent with what Taleran said - people are on Earth waiting for the Super Galactic Great Gurren Gang to return. -
…Rossiu has a voice actress?
Edit: Holy shit you're right. Or that's a trap.
-
-
holy shit win

Original content? In my /a/?
It's more likely than you think.

Haha, oh wow. Thank you, RoastBeef, you made me smile. I really needed that right now.

W-W-W-WAIT WHAT
HUGE could-be spoiler apparently from the latest Newtype:
!
! Well, it does say "Bad End?" right by Nia, so it's probably a hypothetical, magazine-speculated ending. Or not, you know GAINAX.
! Also lol at "Happy End?" Kamina just chillin' back there. And Yoko, skimpily dressed even in the (supposed, hypothetical) afterlife.
! …
! WHERE'S VIRAL -
-
maybe he drills into Heaven and busts Kamina out
-
-
! …
I think I like the, "Bad End" better. :D
I wouldn't be too fooled with the NewType pictures, they're very non-canonical and tend to lean in the direction of what fans want to see. Id est, homosexual scenes of Lelouch + Suzaku from Geass, Lelouch pimping all his classmates, Lelouch backing away in horror as C.C. tries to mount him, etc.
Oh! Also, Archer giving the "goodbye, captain" sign as he vanishes from the Einzbern Mansion. ;_;
…
Still, piercing heaven with his drill. Wouldn't be surprised one bit.
-
Going back to the Beastman sub-commander, there was a character like him in the concept art during 16's credits, so he may have just been an unfinalized version of Viral or something.
-
He acts nothing like Viral, though.
-
Eh, I guess so.
But after actually listening to the commentary, it sounds like it's just a joke anyway. I kinda doubt Kamina's voice actor has all the info on the series's ending.
(doesn't show up when you search for it for some reason). -
Yeah, it's absolutely a joke on their part. Actually hearing them talk and laugh about it has me pretty convinced that we're going to see this incarnation of Simon yet. After all, we've only now just BARELY starting to get hints of his emerging super-confident cocky persona. He still has room to grow and tons of people to lose in order to drive him over the edge and whatnot.
-
That assistance guy next talking to Simon with the circular glasses kinda looks like Parallel Kamina.
-
….hahahahaha, yeah they're definitely joking around.
