He just had an excellent head design, personally. Always been a fan of weird, freaky shit like that. At least the kind of character that manages to not look like some depressing poetry ripped from MySpace.

I don't mind ulquiorra that much personally, but yea, that description fits him.
I like how he is straight logic. actually devoid of emotions unlike other characters like him(sasukeā¦.....yea). With how he talks to people he just seems to think only with logic and no emotion. I don't know why, but I like that.

My favorite Espadas are Grandpa, Grimmjow, Ulquiorra, Blackman, and Yammy.

I hate Noitora, and am neutral towards Halibel and Stark.

Noitora's the only Espada design I really don't like, but I'm not terribly fond of Arroniro. Halibel I might end up liking if she's not just a pair of silent boobs.

I fully agree with everything that you said. Though I do like Ulquiorra's design. But, I've never been the type to immediately hate something just because it looks a certain way. His gothy design works for his cold, stoic attitude, I think. His overall theme is "no life to him", and I like that. His colors are muted, he has one, solid, dead expression, and his personality is lifeless, and all business. On the whole, the package really works.
I will say Noitora has one thing going for him, though. I like the design of his Zanpakuto. I like that it's this massive, double-crescent scythe, instead of the usual sword.

Grimmjow's my favorite, largely due to the fact that I started liking him before I even started reading Bleach. My friend mentioned how cracky his name sounded, and several Google images later, I was hooked. And then I saw his first fight with Ichigo. Fricking epic.
I'm gonna be an outcast here and put Noitora as my second favorite. LOVE his design, especially his Zanpakutou. I also like the fact that him and Tesla both have the eyepatch thing going on.
Szayel's a close third. This is probably due to the fact that he shares similar attributes with Mayuri, who's easily my favorite Shinigami.
So, after a top three of Sadism, Perversion, and Insanity, Ulquiorra decides to mix things up and take fourth. It's his damn eyes. They always just scream either "WTF!?" or "Outta mah way, bitch."
Stark takes fifth for having potential, and things just kind of fall apart after that.

I like Syazel's personality, because it's much better than I was expecting. His design could've been much better, though.

Why? Because Bleach doesn't fit the "standards" of good writing? I that how you're gonna prove its poorly written? Hell, its not that most people "know" that Bleach is poorly written, its that most people agree. And the reasons are usually that its plot is very cliche, ordinary, average, but not subpar. I know that it has its shortcomings, but having flaws doesn't necessarily mean that something sucks. Its writing perfectly complements the art, at least I believe so, and my only complaint is that he drags the story too long sometimes, but thats it. I'm not gonna say Bleach sucks, because its all relative. It doesn't mean that if everyone agrees something sucks, then it sucks. Life isn't something that should be ruled by the mob.
Writing does have standards, if something is below those standards it's sub-par, which Bleach is, it's still enjoyable,, but still poorly written. It's to late to o into it so I'll do it later, and to be on topic:

I disagree, myself. For me, it's the complete package. To compare it to food, appearance would be a spice, not the meat itself.

Some people just don't like the appearance of Elves, for example. And while an Elf could be a well-written character, they'd probably prefer if it was an Orc instead, which is perfectly fine.

Kubo basically tacked on everything possible to make you hate the guy, which makes him more annoying than anything.

Sleazy is in, Noitora is still better than Ulquiorra, who is popular becuse he talks in a monotone voice and always acts like he doesn't give a fuck, besiclly the same reasons Hitsugaya and Byakuya are popular, excet Ulquiorra looks emo. I'd rather have a sleazy asshole than another Byakuya/Hitsugaya.
