Oh I know there's gotta be people here that follow the anime/manga. I personally watch the anime instead of reading the manga.
It's so fantastic. By far the best new show of the season in my opinion.

I'm probably the opposite of you, I prefer reading the manga over the anime. The manga's got the better drawings (if you ask me) and I'm not that fond of the music in the anime. But I have seen some of the episodes….. Er, what? Wait..... No, I just prefer the manga over the anime.
Anyways, yes, my second favourite manga series (only second to 20th Century Boys!). Good stuff.
Bleach is a great action series. Kubotite has a really talent for keeping fights exciting even when he drags them out (see the end of the just-finished recent arc in the manga). It doesn't make top series, but it's still something I look forward to reading every single week.
As for the anime, it's blowing through the manga a little too quickly, IMHO, but overall, I like it. They got a near-perfect voice cast (I hate Renji's VA, though…), the music is...odd, but catchy, and it's all around brought to life well.
Bleach manga just won the Shogakukan Manga Award, if I'm not mistaken. Go Kubo!
I like Bleach because of the characters. They all gets screentime and character development, even the nameless characters like the Renji fanboy or the Hinamori admirer. I like how Kubo makes a lot of characters but still gives them something unique.
The plot isn't something original (boy gets power, boy has to save girl in another dimension, boy's friends help, boy gets friends along the way… flame of recca anyone?), but the storytelling so far is good. Gin is the factor that brings a difference to the usual plot, and from the latest chapter it looks like we'll see what he's up to really soon.
I don't quite like the anime. Maybe I'm just not used to the washed out look of the animation. It's always good to see Kon spazzing out though.
bleach is definitely my second fav, after one piece.
and kon is totally my favorite character.
When watching Shonen Jump series, I somehow always end up watching the Anime first. Sometimes they take a while to hook me, however. Naruto took 8 episodes, and One Piece took 24.
Bleach is the only one since Rurouni Kenshin that hooked me after one episode.
Of all the SJ mangas/animes, Bleach is by far the most FUN to read/watch. I don't worry about originality or drawn out story arcs in Bleach, because the series has been pure fun the whole way. It's not the best, but I still enjoy it a great deal. The characters are wonderfully portrayed (even minor characters like Asano are a hoot and a half at most times,) and so much of it just WORKS. If this current story arc ends on a high note with me, it may overtake One Piece as my second favorite SJ series.
Not really something I would call original storywise, but what sets this apart from other shounen magna is style and the amazing cast of characters.
Really, I've stopped looking for originality in Shonen Jump, period. I read them to have fun, mostly, and Bleach does a good job at being Fun.
Bleach ties with Death Note as my third favorite manga.
(Great to see you back gurneel. :) )
I adore Bleach. I watch the anime and collect the manga in Japanese. I love the art in the manga very much. Bleach really makes me laugh out loud, and I love the characters.
My favourite character is Chad, followed closely by Urahara and Kon.
(I also think Bleach has the best opening ever <– Biased Orange Range fanatic)
I LOVE Bleach. It's definitely able to compete with OP in my opinion. The characters are excellent.
And the Kurosaki family is just hilarious. (Including Kon here^^).
I've just latched onto Bleach after my One Piece binge - more fun with downloading scanlations! A couple of friends bugged me for over a month to watch it. So far I prefer the way the manga does the story…though I've only seen four episodes of the anime. With manga that include fights I always like to se the anime though, I'm never very good at visualising fight scenes in motion.
Bleach is definitely interesting, though, sometime I feel the fight scenes are too dragging…
I love Rukia :D
I haven't read it in a while. However I might as well pick up it again after the whole SS arc is over, maybe. But it's definitely the most stylish series in Shounen Jump though.

If it helps any, the "Save Rukia" arc ended this week. Of course, the whole conspiracy thing still hasn't been resolved, but it looks like that may be getting its own story…
i think they continued right away with the conspiracy arc. i saw people got killed in 167. ichimaru seems to have made his move

Definitely. While Odacchi is quite a pioneer in making shonen characters that actually changes clothes (at least on color pages), Kubo's fashion sense is obviously better.
I just bought vol. 1 of the english manga, and I really like it so far. I like Ichigo and his dad the most so far.
Is it only me or girls' boobs get bigger and bigger every time I notice it? :x :P
But yeah, I'm looking forward to (kind of) new arc for Central 46 Room matter. But probably in ch168, they'll write Genryuusai vs Shunsui / Ukitake. Was it you, e1n, that reminded me?
I love Bleach ^_^, but I only got into it recently. It's not my absolute favourite though.
oh, i love it, i love it, i love it. love the manga, love the anime. i was skeptical at first when i heard about the storyline (i asked a friend of mine what it was about), but hey, i'm glad i looked into it anyway. MAJOR points for novel ways of pulling off an otherwise not so original plot line.
lovely characters. i get happy everytime i see kurosaki ichigo. cute boy. he and his dad are something to watch, aren't they?
I think it was episode 17.. or 16.. don't remember.. anyway.. It was the funniest Bleach episode EVER. :D
Love the manga, hate the anime; does that make sense to anyone? O_o
Well I just don't like all the changes they made to the original, but I'm probably being a spoiled brat. The manga just rulez, though it has a slow start but you really get hooked to it after a while. ^^
Ah, I don´t know what bleach is!
Could somebody give me a adress where I can read about it?
Please! Everybody talks about it, I want to know what this Anime (and Manga) is! :o

I've been reading the manga so far, and I love it. I'm up to the end of Volume 8. So far, my favorite characters are Urahara, Chad, Don Kanonji, and Isshin Kurosaki (Ichigo's dad). Renji is also pretty cool, I really like his sword.
A question for people farther in the series; does Don Kanonji come back? He rocked.
Nope, Don Kanonji never comes back, not yet at least. I love Bleach, Im around chapter 150. need to catch up. Soul Society Arc is amazing.
SPOILERS
Thus far (I'm a little behind in current chapters released), no, I haven't seen him come back yet if I recall correctly.
EDIT: Ah, darn, I was slow. =P

You see him in some of the sketchy things that come at the end of the chapters, starting some weird kind of gang with Karin and the kids from Urahara's shop to fight hollows, but not in the main storyline, no. Not yet anyway…
Hahaha, that reminds me of another thing I love about Bleach, those little sketchy "mini stories" that let you know what other people are up to.
My personal favorite is in the one following the chapter where Chad rips out the power pole to beat down Shrieker (the flying Hollow), where it shows the kid telling his grandpa that the TV went out. :P

Thnx again
np ;)
but..

if i were you i would start the serie right now
Okay, I'm up to where Yoruichi saved Ichigo from Byakuya, and I can say one thing about this manga; Ichigo has to almost ALWAYS go through training or some kind of powerup. It's kind of annoying and messes with the momentum a bit.
Ganju is really awesome, too. I just wish he'd get more action… Then again, everyone who isn't Ichigo needs to get more action.

Damn skippy. Orihime and Chad, especially. Oh, and Ururu.
The newest chapter NEEDS to get some attention! OMG! I was so shocked that I even translated Bleach before translating One Piece… You can get the download link here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/soul_…ety/204390.html
Translation is up on KEFI forum, you'll need to sign up for it.
SPOILERS
I expected that a long time ago and was glad to see I was right about the author's intentions. Not because he's alive, but because that means Bleach is still far from over. :)
The only annoying thing is that no one dies in Bleach (except minor characters like Mayuri's soldiers or characters in flashbacks) just like in OP… except it's supposed to be more realistic as far as damage goes. I so hope Momo dies just to see Hitsugaya go berserk about it, but know she's gonna live. I bet the fourth division captain Naohana is coming this way. What can we expect next?
Naohana vs Aizen? I can't see Aizen lose anytime soon.
Hitsugaya vs Gin? Probably another draw...
Shunsui and Ukitake vs the old man and Komamura
It's not Naohana, it's Unohana. Unohana Retsu.
One thing that worries me about Bleach, I can't possibly see where the series can go after this arc.
After this arc, Ichigo still has things to do; find the Hollow that killed his mom. Probably that'll be the last arc. But before that, they need to go back to the real life, and… probably there're more.
But the thing is, Ichigo has pretty much already hit is peak and is almost like the strongest Shinigami ever (unless they throw in another lame level forh im to reach).
oh, it's shounen anime, so i wouldn't be surprised if suddenly there was another way he could become stronger. but there is still the matter of him finding the hollow responsible for his mother's death.
myself, i am very eager to learn about Urahara Kisuke. Love him. And I really want to know why he became a renegade shinagami. plus we haven't seen his ban kai yet! he was previous record holder for fastest number of days to have achieved his zanpaktou's ban kai which is 3 days (trounced by ichigo later), so by all accounts his zanpaktou's final form should be pretty cool.
I'm sure Kubo-sensei will dedicate a few flashback chapters on how he became a renegade…. I too would like to see his Ban-Kai, he always seemed like a mystery, they tell you some stuff about him during the SS arc, but not much

i know! we get info now and then, but it's always to feed out curiousity to keep us on the edge of our seats all over again. but, i guess that's the desired effect.
i also want to see captain shunsui's ban kai! his shikai is very cool. i love the twin blades that belong to him. he and urahara are my two favorite captains. wait…does urahara still count? oh well...who are your favorite captains in bleach?
what i'm actually worried about is the pace of the anime. it's going REALLY fast. i mean, it's covered a lot of the manga in a few episodes. up to 22 now, i believe. that's not really bad, i guess. but since the manga doesn't show any signs of ending soon...the anime might have to do with more fillers at some point. i hope they do it well then.
me fav captain… I have a bad memory so I can't remember all of them off hand but I like Zenpachi
also Yumi I was gonna mention I started a MSN thread in the general dicussion section, so if you wanna talk about more Bleach you could give me your e-mail, and we could chat it up, and I also agree with the anime going to fast
oh, zaraki kenpachi. weirdly fascinating. he and his vice captain yachiru are an odd, but somehow very compatible pair. :)
vice captain, i kinda like matsumoto rangiku. she rocks.
I just read the most recent chapter…(Chapter 169), and it has to be on par with the unmasking of CP9 in One Piece.
I just want all the crazy turns to quit on the ASAP.
My favborite captains are Kenpachi (he's just friggin BADASS), Shunsui and JYuushiro. Yamamoto seems pretty cool, too.
My least favorite… probably Byakuya. Gin's up there too.
My eyes are throbbing….I just caught up all the way from 131 to 170 without leaving my comp runs to the battroom
Anyway does this manga look like it's ever going to leave soul society?
Bleach is definantly the "coolest" manga I've ever read. The character designs, the attacks, the randomness....but it lacks depth. There hasn't been comedy for over 60 chapters, no character developement except for flashbacks for every single villain (and what is there like 400 of them?) not to mentin the pointless fights between characters that nobody cares about and they completely abandoned Zarakai's fight! He's the best character in the whole manga! Sado's a close second though....
I just read 169 (finally)
What happened on page 16 was obvious (well to me) since page 10. (I am good with not telling spoilers)
