Dinty, i wasnt serious with my words but my messege was more heavy and understandable because of how i said it. there's no need to crussify my for that, i hate yaoi and i have the right to hate just like you have the right to like yaoi.
Franky – I'm sorry if it sounded like I was trying to "crucify" you. I promise you, I wasn't! I was just trying to raise a few points that you might not have considered when you posted your statement about 30 year old virigin fans.
Since I couldn't understand the tone of your comment (if you meant it in a joking way or not), I decided to take what you said at face value and to respond to it as I did.
You're absolutely correct about this though : that tolerance for yaoi is very different among different cultures, and that many different cultures are represented on this forum. People may be comfortable discussing certain topics one country, but may avoid discussing them in another. But, as you yourself said people have a right – even in those countries -- to like and dislike certain things.
What they don't have a right to do -- in any country -- is to discuss contraversial subjects in contexts where it isn't considered "appropriate" to do so (like for example my friend in the restaurant, who should have waited until we got home to show me her art. It would have been much less embarrassing for me in that context).
Any sort of extreme fandom can be annoying, not just yaoi fandom. And the best way I've found to deal with extreme fandom is simply to ignore it. You might want to try that too. Next time someone interrupts your conversation with a comment about "sexual tension", just continue discussing what you were discussing before the interruption. That person will eventually realize that you aren't interested in that sort of thing and will move on to find someone who is ... And if they don't move on, the subject can always be changed back again after they've enthused about their obsession for a minute or two.
But please don't assume that every yaoi fan is an unattractive, hyperactive, lonely, foaming-at-the-mouth fangirl. That's not the reality, and that sort of stereotype only leads to trouble down the line (as you've no doubt realized by now, after seeing so many angry rebuttals – from males as well as females).
Hope that helps.
Peace.
:)
