I blame Dragon Ball. The trend of one-sided beatdowns started with that series, correct me if I'm wrong.
Saint Seiya is a strong contender on that too.

I won't worry again about power levels consistency in this series… I would never in a zillion years have predicted King was going to beat Mael, a guy with a power equivalent to four commandments (Gloxinia couldn't have done it). But well, there it is.
The most intriguing part to me is what Gowther is going to do now.
It doesn't bother me that much, Meliodas has been stomping every one he fights since before the powerlevels introduction.
I just think they could've been done better if Nakaba was more modest on the values, like all the commandments being around 40K, it would still be a major gap for the sins to overcome but would sound so ridiculous how fast they achieved that level.

Didnt kenshiro one punch almost everyone? Hence the whole Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru meme

It doesn't bother me much neither, but more than modest values is about power gaps. Anyway, if Diane and Ban are going to have similar power ups I'd wonder who could be the rival… I'm ready to be surprised again.

Not quite. It's true that Kenshiro delivered many one-sided beatdowns, but stuff happened before he finished off one of the bad guys. Sometimes he was at disadvantage at first, others he had to play by the bad guy's rules, or was left no choice but to search for alternative methods of combat. Entertaining stuff that made the conclusion all the more satisfying.
Meanwhile, whenever Goku went back from training, whoever his opponent would be was guaranteed to get roflstomped, even if said opponent prior to that single handedly crushed all opposition (Nappa, anyone?).
That is to not say stuff didn't happen in this grand battle. I mean more on King's side, that he didn't struggle at all once he awakened. But it was so good I didn't mind, and I'll never complain about it, because one day I might do the same and then, what? It would make me a hypocrite.
Saint Seiya is a strong contender on that too.
Saint Seiya was one sided beatdowns where the underdog's surprise power up just lets them do one good hit on the opponent and then it turns into a boxing match.
chp282 spoilers:
! Gowther enters Mael's mental world.
! It is empty inside.
! Mael is sitting inside alone.
! Gowther begins to counsel him/ heal his soul. (By metaphorically feeding him chicken soup for the soul, yes.)
! Halfway through the counselling, the 4 commandments materialise as monsters inside Mael's mental world.
! Mael recalls the scene of Mel and Eli being together and feels anguish.
! Using this chance, the commandments as monsters start rampaging.
! Upon seeing the danger, Gowther prepares a winning tactic.
! Gowther cross-dresses as a female demon to continue counselling Mael. (idk why)
! Mael who had never witnessed a crossdress before got shocked into consciousness.
! Chicken soup (the soul healing) was successful.
! Mael has been released from the bondage of the 4 commandments.
! The scene transits to the real world.
! After a flash of light, Gowther falls towards the ground.
! King wants to catch him, but someones hand already grabbed gowther.
! Eli starts smiling (the kind that you get when you recall old memories)
! Mael has almost completely shed his Estarossa personality.
! Mael has 2 pairs of wings.
! Chapter ends.
! Bartra keikaku of making Gowther crossdress finally paid of. A new ship is born.
Meanwhile, whenever Goku went back from training, whoever his opponent would be was guaranteed to get roflstomped, even if said opponent prior to that single handedly crushed all opposition (Nappa, anyone?).
If you count Tenkaichi Budokai's preliminars, then yes. Nappa and the Ginyu Force were the only ones that suffered for what your point is about.
Kenshiro is the king of the mainstream one-punch K.O… but isn't a creator of the trend nonetheless.
First time reading Nanatsu spoilers, i stopped reading when chicken soup appeared.
We finally learn why Gowther has such a feminine appearance.
! Is because the original Gowther created him after his lover Glarissa, who was killed by Mael. So you could say him choosing the archangel for his scheme to end the Holy War was also an act of revenge.

We kinda already new that:
[hide] [/hide]
But
! Is nice to know that Gowther Sr. didn't choose Mael randomly. Now deadpool on Mael, how long 'till he dies to redeem himself?
! He kinda will look at demons in a different view from there on.
! Upon being reminded of the one event that ultimately had Gowther make the decision to put an end to the Holy War once and for all, Mael realizes that he has no right to blame anyone for his misfortune and accepts his punishment for his sins.
! And I have to say, I'm going to enjoy how Mael redeems himself.
! It's clear at this point that the final boss can only be the Demon King and the Supreme Goddess. There's no one more powerful than them out there.

Chapter is out. RIP Estarossa you were a good dog.

Elizabeth hype!
With Mael discarded, there's no other way this Holy War can end except with a repeat of the battle that started it all.
! And that can only be Meliodas & Elizabeth VS Demong King & Supreme Goddess. The final battle to end all wars.
The Elizabeth hype is real.
Also it fuels the theory that
! she was one of the prisoners that Aranak and Zeno were going to kill and it leads to Meliodas betrayal and they joining Stigma, and not knowing about their prisoners bait.

It's a complete different battle: ancient war was between clans, but this comming one is not
So Mael was chosen because of a love story.
Is there anything in this manga that didn't happened because a guy loved a girl?
I liked the characters being able to be currently in real regular romantic relationships or have been in one (normally shonen series just allow that on epilogues) but c'mon show some diversity in motivations, will you? I'm entirely sure the Demon King and the Supreme Goddess will be former lovers.
… ok, I'm just salty Mael is alive. But really, it's getting kinda repetitive.

Best demon Galan didn't have a love subplot, and because of that he is the best demon.
My favs: Galan's physical design and Derieri and Monspiet story… but I'm interested in Zeldoris. He has that kind of megaman shape and is in the middle of eveything
The Begone Thot memes have ruined this for me lol.
So the Commandments mention using a corpse and Nakaba has shown Derriere a couple times they're totally going to use hers.
Chapter's out
on mangareader
Ban is now a noble thief: he takes and gives.
Another healer has joined the party.
Hey boys and girls! It's time for another Purgatory's Adventures Korner!
Yaaaaaay!
A magic that let you share your stenght to others….Heh.
So…
! What are the chances that the Demon King is in Purgatory, because his ability is strongest in a place that is constantly causing him harm?
If that is so, then he's "hidding" to lure an enemy to battle, or just plain hidding. The impression that I got is that he's a prissioner.
Of course Meliodas has op innate magic that could allow to not get ass whoop by the Gods.
IM so glad to get back to meliodas and ban

Maybe, but if he knows where the door to exit purgatory is, then he should be able to leave himself (assuming there is not a condition to leaving), but he doesn't. To me that suggests that he is staying of his own free will.
Another possibility is that he is doing this to achieve the fulfillment of his curse on Meliodas. The SD might be in a similar scenario to keep her curse on Elizabeth in effect.
Phoenix Down.
Problem solved.
Anyone care to explain to me how they weakened the DK at the end of the chapter? Did Ban try to heal him like he did to Hawk2 and the DK's power inverted healing into damage? Just like it inverts damage into healing? I'm kinda lost tbh and comparing different translations hasn't gotten me anywhere either. On that note, did Ban get a healing power just to help Elaine? Gonna be interesting to see if he uses it for anything else besides this chapter's weakening of the DK and likely curing Elaine ;)

What Ban did was Give more strenght to him, so since DK has the power to revert every spell on him, his strenght got Stolen instead.
Ban did seem to get a healing power. I guess he can give and take now. Which is kinda funny. It's like a rogue pocketing something onto someone else.
That's worrying though. Cause if he can give vitality he's probably gonna kill himself rezzing Elaine.
What I understood is that he stole his wound, as an imortal he just healed it, but that would invite the author to draw the wounds on Ban, it is more likely that he shared his regeneration.
So I was almost there with my understanding, thanks a bunch, guys :) On the topic of healing/curing/resurrecting Elaine, I'm not sure how Ban's immortality works in that regard. Is there something akin to a limit of vitality he could possibly use up in the process, resulting in him dying? Or maybe he could transfer over his immortality in its entirety to Elaine, bypassing said limit? Any input?
Man, he's gonna get really OP once he gets his weapon.
Yeah it's gonna be insane. He's spent how long in Hell now?
Yeah it's gonna be insane. He's spent how long in Hell now?
At least hundreds, but possibly thousands of years. If we use Elizabeths 3 day time limit as a gage and apply that in this chapter it was stated that 60 years is an hour, then we can assume he has been in their less than 4,320 years. Given all that has occurred in the outside world I think it is more reasonable to think he has only been in for about a day to a day and a half. That would be about 1,400 to 2,100 years. Mind you, I really can not tell with all the back and forth. Someone else may be able to follow it better.
Yeah it's gonna be insane. He's spent how long in Hell now?
Purgatory, actually.
But yeah, is he EVER gonna get his weapon back?
I would wager anything from one day to one day and a half. Mel comments that Ban was the first to spend a millennia in purgatory without losing his humanity.
After this arc I find the demon king more likeable, mostly because he seems like a bored grandpa playing with his son and friends to kill the time. He could have killed the boar a long time ago, but he didn´t, I found it weird for someone that rules over soul eating demons.
So, you guys probably still remember the permanent scar Meliodas put on Ban's face. Wanna bet something it is related to these powers he's so afraid of unleashing?

And we thought it was a simple hellblaze, how innocent we were. But it's a certainty now.

I was thinking he was going to be the major rival of meliodas but it seems he's going to need some help to present a good match to the 'good' guys.
Moon rabbits, then?
I was thinking about what the new development in Ban's powers means. He can rob physical attributes, but when it comes to concepts like strength or speed, he is limited by what his body can handle. Now on the one hand, his centuries in purgatory have probably toughened up his body, so that amount is higher, but this new concept of giving creates a new potential.
Imgaine Ban acting as a conduit to depower the enemy and then give that strength to his allies… Ban kinda becomes a ridiculous cheat even greater than Merlins Infinity. No matter how great your army's power, he can just give it to his side. You can not take him out of the equation because he is immortal. He is changing from thief to red mage. The down side is if everyone else suffers from his draw back up overpowering causing them to become weakened afterward.
The down side is if everyone else suffers from his draw back up overpowering causing them to become weakened afterward.
Not if he learn to fine tune the power he gives; or he just heals them afterwards.
