Now its time to give my general impression on games starting with D (that I've gone over that is)
The Great Ace Attorney: Despite the lack of involvement of Noriyuki Iwadare, the music in this game was just as excellent as 5 and Investigations. Good stuff I must say.
Danganronpa: I love this series except for its cruddy anime follow up. That said, the music is great here. DR1 has a great soundtrack, DR2 is even better, and DR: Another Episode is about is about as good as DR1 in my opinion. Beautiful Ruin (Summer Salt) from DR2 is probably my favorite (ordinary living/slice of life track) out there.
Darius: I don’t remember much from this. People have nostalgia issues or something.
Dark Cloud: Bog standard RPG music with one memorable song “Owl Forest”
Dark Souls: Dark Souls 1 & 2 are good works from Motoi Sakuraba, but are honestly some of my least favorite stuff he’s produced. Dark Souls 3 music composition wasn’t headed by Sakuraba, and surprisingly, it was my favorite of the bunch. Soul of Cynder’s boss theme is excellent.
Dark Spire: The synthetic vocals in this ost are so memorable. Honestly, its big reason for this OST’s appeal. Good stuff.
Dark Void: This one is composed by Bear McReary, the same guy who does the Walking Dead Music. Yes, it sounds like ‘movie music’, but it’s good stuff in spite of that.
Darksiders: Darksiders 1’s OST was mediocre; Darksiders 2, had Jesper Kyd at the helm, so it was pretty solid (above Assassin’s Creed, but below Borderlands 2)
Dawn of Mana: Had a lot of good tracks, all using a similar leifmotif. My favorite track is easily Dark Shrine.
Day of Tentacle: Very peculiar, but pretty solid stuff. I liked it.
Deadly Premonition: If I remember correctly, this game had good music, idk.
Dear Drops: Bog Standard visual novel crap. Granted I like that crap, but it’s far from the greatest.
Deathsmiles: What is this game exactly. I barely remember anything from it….
Demon Souls: Decent. Honestly better than Dark Souls 1 at least.
Demon’s Crest: One of the better 16 bit OSTs out there. It was enjoyable enough that I listened to most of it, afterall.
Deus Ex: I liked it, but some of it is too overly atmospheric, which I why I’m saving it 2 most recent titles for later (it started to bore me). Icarus is an excellent track and deserves the praise it gets.
Devil’s Crush: A pinball game with some good 16 bit tunes. They were good, I guess. Not much else to say.
Devil’s May Cry: Not bad, but it managed to bore me, so I’m saving its most recent titles for a later date.
Diablo: Not too great, but Diablo 2 has one damn good song and that makes this OST at memorable at least.
Diddy Kong Racing: Its hard to believe this mediocre OST is composed by the legendary David Wise, but I guess everyone has their off days.
Disgaea: It’s a little to avant-garde and bizarre for my taste, but I’ll definitely do the last 4 entries in the series later.
Dishonored: The Drunken Whaler is an amazing song. Everything else is just okay. I’ll do Dishonored 2 in a while, when its out that is.
Dissidia Final Fantasy: Rehash of a lot of Final Fantasy Themes. It has one unique piano song that’s decent I suppose.
Divine Divinity: Overwhelmingly boring, but it had its moments here and there.
Donkey Kong Country: This series is David Wise’s keystone achievement. DKC & DKC2, while not the greatest individual OSTs, have some of the greatest tunes that have came out of gaming. DKC3 is sadly, mediocre at best, in my opinion, with a few good songs here and there. I skipped DKC Returns so I could get to DKC Tropical Freeze. It took me a little while to warm up to it, but I must say its David Wise’s best work after DKC2 after listening to it in its entirety. Funny thing is, I have Tropical Freeze, but I have yet to beat it. I probably should get on to that.
Doom: I recognize it as quality, but it’s just not my style. I’ll return for Doom 2, 3, and 64 later. The new Doom’s soundtrack was excellent, but way to heavy techno-metal for my taste.
Double Dragon: This series music was good, but not very memorable
Dr. Mario: Crappy chiptune that I don’t feel like listening to.
Dra+Koi: Random porn game/ visual novel with like 10 tracks. Some of those tracks are good. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least.
Dragon Age: Origins is okay, and Inquisition is mostly good because the Tavern songs. I’ll get to 2 later.
Dragon Quest: So overrated in my opinion it isn’t funny. This is generic RPG music crap in honest opinion. Granted, I’m saving the last five games for later. Maybe they’ll redeem the series music for me.
Dragon Spirit: What was this exactly?
Dropsy: I really wasn’t feeling the music here. Not much else to say.
Ducktales Remastered: Uhhhh, it had good music, but its probably something that only great in context or something. That’s not something I looking for, so I can’t say much more.
