I'm still working on it. There's quite a few lines and voice actors to keep track of. I'm also trying to obtain RAWs of the first few episodes so I won't have to have those pesky subtitles in the way, so that's a huge factor in the delay.

I'm sticking by my choice of keeping the openings and endings in japanese cause they are music to the ears (duh) its less trouble, and thats what most professonal companies even do.

I have MSN Messenger downloaded, just need a couple of days to prepare my audition for Ussop. Getting pretty nervous, considering this is my first attempt in the field of voice acting.
By the way, Strange_One, I prefer the 4Kids dub of We Are to what you posted. The lyrics are a bit off, and Gold Roger's voice needs to change, but it sounds good, better than the rap at least. The one you posted sounds really flat at some parts, and I didn't really rhyme all that much. It was a great try, though, for whoever was singing it.

Thats another reason for why I'm leaving the op/ed alone. Due to the japanese language it being put into english can most likely greatly damage its feel/rhyem and not to mention tons of anime lyrics are random and don't make any sense.
They just sound so much better in japanese, it doesn't matter how sings.

No, even on the DVDs they aren't textless, they still have the credits and subtitles. K-F just takes the textless openings and endings from the DVDs themselves and goes through and replaces the endings and openings. If there is a special ending though, like the "Family" ending after the Baroque Works saga, it's usually shown textless with the credits on a black screen afterwards.
Of course I could have completely misunderstood you…

I know a little about dubbing. What I do know is that you need a raw video track, a voice track, a music track, and a sfx track. As far as I know, 2 out of 4 are available to us, and we create the third one (the voices) ourselves. Then I, or someone else could take the tracks and mix them. As long as the voices match the flaps (the movements of the characters mouths), the dub shoud turn out great. I don't know where to get the SFX though, but I would say use the original audio as much as possible and change it when there are voices, shouldn't be too hard.

Another thing that's important to consider when combining the video and audio is making sure that the audio is clean. If the mic of a voice actor is bad, or if it picks up static or background noises, then it would sound odd or unnatural when the character is speaking.

I know you can edit out static, puffs, and noises from audio files but I can't really do it. I've messed around and the most I get is all that bad stuff is gone but part of the audio around it is either very hard to make out or its gone period.

Something else you could do is try masking small disturbances with other audio, like background music or sound effects. You'ld be amazed at how many small audio issues you could clear up simply by making the background music louder.

All openings and endings will be kept how they are, everyone wants them dubbed but the fact of the matter most japanese songs SUCK once translated.
Besides, last time I checked theres no famous pop singer on this forum.

Please, I notice this topic don't get alot of attention anymore; probably cause I haven't shown anything yet but I need alittle bit more resources from you guys to do something. So please bump this topic whenever possible. But of course don't disobey the forum rules doing so.
And I was thinking. Before starting on episodes do you think it would be harder to do a movie than an episode? Like do you think dubbing movie 6 before an episode would be easier and help with experience or harder?

Movie 6? Good choice :). I love that movie. Well…I say doing a movie first, before an episode....might be a little harder. As it is a longer, and more time-consuming. If you plan on doing a movie first, then you should at least give them a skit, so you can see how well they work together. I say, do a couple episodes AT LEAST, and then, if you are confident, do a movie. But thats me.

A skit huh. That might be a good idea. Having all the voice actors I got so far in one scene…the only scenes I can think of like that would be the train scene right before Enies Lobby.

Another thing you can do, is make up lines, just making sure that they are in character.

You know what I'd love to do? Actually have a audio conversation between all the voice actors at once and they can all interact in their dub voices. I hear the dubbing part of the original japanese animation everyone is in the same room recording togeather.
Alas, I don't know a program in which can do this, while at the same time being able to save this audio conversation.

I honestly think you should do clips first if you want to practice. I say do that so people actually see some progress on the episodes being done.

I know, I plan on it. But still, it might actually help the voice actors get use to their voices aswell as pratice if we could have a big convo with everyone having an actual conversation.
We just have to find a program which can do this. And at all possible save the audio conversation.

Cool, a Robin. I am pretty sure that Zoro wont be too hard to find, he isnt as unique in voice as, say Luffy or Usopp. And Chopper….well, I dunno.

Are you kidding? Zoro's japanese voice actor is the most unique I've heard. But again I don't expect to find someone who sounds exactly like him. But if you can, help find me a Zoro.
See, the problem is. One Piece isn't too well known in the US. And what it is its the dub so all freelance voice actors see no point in getting involved. Also, many don't want anything to do with a fandub of a licensed anime cause they are afraid they can be sued for providing their voices for it.

Well, it is certainly unique. But, there are many ways Zoro can be done, IMO. Smooth and cool, like the Japanese one. Or more gruff, like in the English one.
