Chapter 247 had some rather big revelations. Temari, Kankuro, and Neji all have moved up & become Jounins (damn, that was fast) Gaara has become the new Kazekage!!! of the hidden sand, he's aged a bit & has longer hair, I like the new look.

Meanwhile Shikamaru is still a Chunnin & Sakura has also moved up to Chuunin level. Naruto I believe would still be genin, like Konohamaru :D. No word on Lee, Shino, Kiba and the rest of the original rookie 9.

We also get a glimpse of the new Shichibukai…err, um Akatsuki member ;). He looks pretty wild, he rides around on a huge bird (eagle/hawk) and can create things out of his hand (think D, from Vampire Hunt D), all in all great chapter, can't wait for the next issue.

First, I think that Akatsuki member is a she, not a guy, judging from the whole ''husband'' line thingie.

Second, seeing as how Shikamaru said Naruto was the only one from his class who hadn't become a Chuunin yet, I'd say all of the other rookies all became Chuunin too.

Oh, I see. Yeh, I've only seen the raw & read a fairly brief plot summary, a few days ago.

Ha ha, when I read this chapter, I was screaming: OMG!! Gaara is Kazekage!!! My sincere apologies to whoever in chan at that time :x

But yeah, I hope the new arc will stay interesting.

The time skip really gave Naruto a fresh feeling, like the feeling I got when I first started reading it. Gaara being Kazekage completely caught me off guard, I mean I knew he was going to be Kazekage someday…just not so soon. The recent chapters have been really great. I want to see what all the other people look like.

It was supposed to be something along the lines of "Master Sasori, you can wait here, I can do this myself" or something like that
Also, it's generally agreed that hand-mouth is a girl, though it's official

As petty as this sounds, I was disappointed with this chapter simply because I was hoping for Lee and Gai x_x yeah, I know.

But, yay! Shikamaru! And it's good to know everyone's new positions. :)

:P Don't trust translation entirely, including mine :P We make mistakes. I was reading Naruto in English with my gf and I was like ???. This sounds different than what I read in Japanese :x

I actually lost interest in Naruto a week or two ago.

I don't hate it, I just don't care right now. I don't know why, I just don't.

So far, I like the way everyone looks now better than they did before. I guess this is a bit random, but I'm really anxious to know what Akamaru looks like now, :lol: since he was only a puppy before, right? I hope he is a big dog, like Kiba's sister's dog. ….... ..... ... Yes, that IS the extent of my thoughts on the latest Naruto chapter... <_< nyeh.

I have enjoyed the new chapters a lot, at least more than I used to. But is another exam really necessary ? I mean, plot-wise, is there anything worse than a paper test? Well, perhaps there's still a chance of not having it because of Akatsuki's actions.

Not sure if this is the right thread to mention this in, but it looks like the Naruto TV series was licensed by ShoPro.

But, whatever…. It was gonna happen sooner or later. =/

Yep, I just heard about that. That's a shame since the anime was getting to a really good part of the series, now most of the subbers will drop it. But all I can say is: I want Uncut DVDs.

Heh, someone is obviously gonna keep subbing it though, since it's so popular.

Lots of people were angry about Naruto not being Chuunin, but let's face it, he wasn't there, so no promotion for him. I think it's funny how Naruto got left behind again, reminds me of my own experiences.

Well he has been training with Jiraiya, of all people. I mean, wouldn't one of the legendary Sannin be a better judge of just how much Naruto has grown in skill & ability over the last three years, rather than some silly romp through the jungle followed by a tournament.

I mean, Shikamaru lost his match to Temari in the third round, but he was deemed good enough to become a Chuunin by his peers for his display of skill & knowledge in that match. My point being, if Jiraiya felt Naruto's growth had easily grown beyond genin or perhaps, chuunin, couldn't he recommed that Naruto's rank be lift?

Seems like an overall better way to do it, really… just a thought. :mellow:

Yeah, Naruto's not had the chance to get a promotion. I'm certain by now that he could, though.

Yes and Rock Lee is Chuunin! Somehow I can never see Lee as a leader of a squad. But hey, he's there.

Not me, I actually pity the poor guy.

I mean, he defeated the now Kazekage of the sand country. Yet his rank indicates he is no more talented than, say Konohamaru & his little ninja squad. :P

It happens every time a new chapter comes out. Someone finds something, it can be even the smallest of details, and complains about it. Ranting about how "Naruto is going downhill" or "I've lost my faith in the series". They can't enjoy the manga because they're too busy criticizing it.

_Yeah, but I guess other people would see it as Naruto getting a free hand out while everyone else had to become Chuunin through the exam. It wouldn't be fair to all those who didn't get trained by a legendary Sannin. Personally, I wouldn't want to read another Chuunin Exam.

The new chapter was entertaining, we got to see some cool Gaara action. I find it funny, really fitting, that Naruto's still a genin but a tournament's a really bad and over used plot device. Like Heretic said I really wouldn't care of reading another one and perhaps, at least I hope so, Kishimoto has a better plan or he just pass it by shortly.

Wow, chapter is 248 was kick arse. The Akatsuki chick, has a fairly unique ability, but Gaara is unstoppable, especially in the sand village (sorta how Crocodile is extremely powerful in desert).

He seems to have a lot more control over the Shakaku demon, as he sends its claws after the girl & sends a massive sand storm after her, which ends up engulfing half her body & having it crushed in the desert coffin (a la Rock Lee).

But if she can roll with the likes of Itachi & co. well, I don't think she'll be killed off that easily.

Yeah, 248 was good!! I love Gaara's new clothes. But what was with the random Naruto moment?

It was all: fight, fight, ramen stand, fight. :lol:

And Naruto is not the only one left as genin….Sasuke is too. :P I mean, come on, who's going to let Sasuke in to a Chuunin exam?!

Chapter 245 I believe was the beginning of the new era.

There has been four chapter since the time jump, from 245 to 248. And there was a short Kakashi gaiden before it which could be read stand alone, I think it was five chapter long from 240 and on.

Wow, 248 was a great chapter. Gaara is awesome…again! I really want to see what Naruto can do. But I also want to see what Neji and Lee look like. With Neji being Jounin and all, I really want to see what he can do.

Actually, they were more talking about Naruto's training with Jiraiya, and how strong he must've become… And at the end, Naruto mentions Gaara becoming Kazekage, and Iruka tells him that's because he's a bit of an extraordinary kid.

Gaara being Kazekage really caught me off-guard. Apparently having a demon in you doesn't disqualify one for being a -kage(good news for Naruto?).
If Naruto's still a Genin, does that mean we might see anohter Chuunin exam? Or are there other ways to get above Genin that I don't know about?

On a side note, have any of the Naruto anime fans here had trouble with getting Dattebayo's subs to work? Every other sub I've used from any other sub group(Naruto or otherwise) worked fine, but Dattebayo's subs don't work at all - they stop playing after 3 seconds.

Well…AonE has 122 out also. You can get that instead. I've had problems with Dattebayo before so I never bother downloading from them.

DB has cheap encodes that's all, winamp works nice with it, the thing is that DB has incredible crappy subs.

Meh, rank has never meant anything to me. I mean, I think it would be nice for Naruto to move up too, but at the same time I don't think it really matters anyway. I know he's going to get out of it one way or another, just like he always does.

EDIT: Oh yeah, anyone else think the preview for episode 123 was a little too spoilerific?

What I don't like about the new chapters is the "Well, this place, I've missed it." They keep on saying that kind of stuff and it's ANNOYING.

Other than that, it's ok.

The raw for Chapter 249 is out, if no one has seen it yet. I can't read Japanese but I kind of got the jist of what was going on. Kankurou makes an appearance but most of the chapter is Gaara vs Akatsuki person.

Basically, Gaara got captured when he tried to save the village from Mr. Paperbird's biggest attack. That's all you really need to know. Oh, and Gaara was inspired to be Kazekage by Naruto.

Man, Gaara and Naruto are almost like best friends now, since they are the only ones who truly understand what's it's like to be them.

As much as I love Gaara, I wanna get back to Konoha and see everybody else. 17-year old Neji!!!!!!
