It is good. I really enjoyed it. One of my favorites.
-
I like it too. Even the dub 4kids made was enjoyable-Take that as you will.
I also recommend Pretty Cure. ESPECIALLY the first, second and the Heartcatch seasons.

Oh yeah. I did enjoy the 4Kids dub for what it was. It was a shame they didn't finish releasing the first half in the US and overall the rest of the series.
@Tamaki:
What are they both about?
Tokyo Mew Mew is a magical girl (Shojo) anime. It is about a group of girls who are injected with endanger animal DNA who have to combat an alien race that is endangering the earth with their deeds. You follow Ichigo who is the leader of the Mew Mews as she balance between life and her role as the Earth's defender.
That is a good summary of the show. It is actually really good and I enjoyed the characters that were in it.

Wait did you just say ichigo? does that mean the characters have zanpuktos?

Pretty Cure….It about something diferent each continuity and each lasts one or two seasons.
I recommend you:
1-Futari wa Pretty Cure and FCwPC Max Heart:Yukishiro Honoka and Misumi Nagisa are two eighth-grade girls who normally would have never become more than passing acquaintances. Honoka is the class brain, the class president, and chased by all the boys; Nagisa is an unrepentant jock and secret romantic who has a crush on an older boy but gets unwanted love letters from other girls. After receiving strange cell-phone like devices that house a pair of bizarre living creatures, though, they discover that they can transform into a duo of Magical Girls — Cure Black and Cure White, together known as Pretty Cure! Caught up in a battle against a world-spanning evil, Honoka and Nagisa find that they have a destiny to fulfill — one that will save worlds and just incidentally make them friends along the way
2-HeartCatch Pretty Cure
When Innocent Flower Girl Tsubomi and her parents move to a new town, Tsubomi has her heart set on becoming more outgoing, now that she can start with a new slate. It turns out that her problem isn't with making friends, though – it's getting them to leave her alone! Fashion-loving Genki Girl Erika almost immediately attaches herself to Tsubomi in hopes of recruiting her into the school's fashion club, which will shut down if they don't find some new members. That night, both Tsubomi and Erika have a strange dream, in which a woman in white called Cure Moonlight is trying to protect a beautiful tree from a woman in black. Cure Moonlight is defeated, and the tree wilts, but does not die, and Cure Moonlight sends two sprites away to find the ones who can save it.
It turns out that Tsubomi is one of those people, and when Erika is transformed into a monster by a strange woman, the sprites give her the power to transform into Cure Blossom, one of the legendary Pretty Cure, and save Erika! …It's just too bad Tsubomi is quite possibly the weakest Pretty Cure ever. In the end, Tsubomi does manage to save Erika, who later turns out to be the other Pretty Cure, Cure Marine. Together, the two of them work to defeat the Desert Messengers, an evil group that hopes to turn the world into a desert, along with the evil Dark Cure.
3-Yes! Pretty Cure 5 and YPC5! GoGo
Yumehara Nozomi is a girl in search of a dream. She meets a hot guy in a chance encounter, follows him into the library, and before she knows it, her belief in the importance of following your dreams has turned her into a Magical Girl with a sidekick who looks like a yellow plush tanuki. Within a few episodes, she's assembled a complete team:
- Cure Dream, Pretty Cure of Hope. Nozomi herself, who stays positive and cheerful, even though she's generally a screwup and well aware of it.
- Cure Rouge, Pretty Cure of Passion. Natsuki Rin, Nozomi's childhood friend, known for her athletic prowess and biting sarcasm. Easily frightened, but the idea of losing Nozomi is scarier than any monster.
- Cure Lemonade, Pretty Cure of Bursting or Bubbliness or Effervescence or something. Kasugano Urara, an up-and-coming child actress and Idol Singer. Has trouble making friends due to her busy schedule.
- Cure Mint, Pretty Cure of Tranquility. Akimoto Komachi, an aspiring writer who's getting discouraged by a lack of positive feedback. She's extremely nice and rarely gets angry, and believe us, that's very fortunate. Absolutely not Midorikawa Retasu.
- Cure Aqua, Pretty Cure of Intelligence. Minazuki Karen, ridiculously wealthy Student Council President. Responsible, kind-hearted, and independent… in all the wrong ways, as she quickly discovers.
- Coco, otherwise known as Cocoda Kouji. Middle school teacher, extradimensional tanuki, and love interest for Nozomi in one. Refugee from the Kingdom of Palmier, which was destroyed by an organization called the Nightmare Group.
- Nuts, otherwise known as Natsu (or "Natts" if you feel particularly Engrishy). Coco's best friend. Runs the store that serves as Pretty Cure's base, and protects a magic item called the Dream Collet, while still blaming himself for the destruction of Palmier.
- Milk, a third mascot creature and servant of Coco and Nuts. She really doesn't like Nozomi and likes to make her life harder. She is also responsible for giving the Cures their first upgrade.
And its Ichigo Momomiya, Tamaki, Not Kurosaki. Tokyo Mew Mew is a Magical Girl Show while Bleach is a Shonen.(And not a good one)
-
No…..The main character name is Ichigo. She is the main heroine in the story. And no there is no zanpuktos. Ichigo is mostly used as a girl's name in Japan.

After watching the video
Damn that was such a great show. I remember tried rewatching it last summer but kind of stopped. Though it was awesome during the time they were trying to get the last member to join their team.

You forgot Fresh.

Thoughts don't match mine since I need to find time to watch the original but, I find it funny.
-
I knew. My point was to prove Tokyo Mew Mew is good enough to be enjoyable despite all the edits.
….The edits were truly moronic though.
They made it so the boyfriend found out her Identity IN THE FIRST EPISODE. Which is actually the 12th Japanese episode, so Im not actually spoiling anything.
-
Wow. I must have forgot about a few of those edits they made if they revealed that in the first episode.
-
It was the pilot. They turned episode 12 into the pilot for the show. Masaya wasnt meant to find out Mew Ichigo's Identity till a LOT later.

One has more sparkles, the other has more blood.
I remember watching all the episodes of this show. This was my first favorite Magical Girl show.

what do you mean sparkles?
-
@Tamaki:
what do you mean sparkles?
Exactly as it is said. Sparkles. Glitter. Shiny stuff. Shonen don't have sparkles, well they do, but they are more of glints.
-
@Tamaki:
whats the diffrence between a magical girls show and a shonen?
You see Tamaki.
Shonen genre anime manga are aimed at boys and young male teens.
Shojo genre anime and manga are aimed at girls and young female teens.
Magical Girl anime and manga belong in the shojo category, but are also enjoyed by males due to their action/adventure elements.
Thats pretty much the main difference.
Hope that helped.

Well i want to check this show out but i want to know a website to check this out. Also anyone know when funimation will dub this show?

Never. 4kids already got Tokyo Mew mew a long time ago before Funimation, calling it Mew Mew Power.

I know but they have long since lost the rights to it so funimation can pick it up. meaning that its pretty likely they will. just like with sailor moon.

The difference is that TMM isn't that popular enough like One Piece or Sailor Moon to be salvaged. If it does get salvaged, then I will be very happy.

I don't know, the list of anime they have is pretty mainstream in the Anime community.
-
It HAD the potential to be mainstream before 4Kids got their hands on it. Magical Girl shows without TV Deals will flop miserably. So a DVD Uncut release is VERY Unlikely. Sorry Tamaki. Watch it subbed. Or watch Pretty Cure has a quite decent dub of the entire first series.
-

Jing King of bandits? Salty Rei? Black Cat? Worlds Age?, etc? yeah dude LOTS of the anime they have no ones ever heard of.

What does being a Magical Girl Show have to do with it? an anime is an anime and if enough fans ask and/or they think it would be profotable or heck even if they just want to it up for the heck of it becuase they like it then they will. you should'nt give up so easily.

Don't double post Tamaki, just multi-quote.

Hey, don't bring in King of Bandits Jing, that has a cult following, I can tell you that and I'm pretty sure they did Seventh Heaven because that was popular. The actual comic is a gem that few knows. Solty rei and Black Cat are totally main stream in anime community so I don't know what you're talking about. Worlds age…Okay, got me there, I don't know what that is, but I really don't care.

Magical Girl shows are always picked up by other companies because they contain more "childish" (in a sense) content, being sparkly and all. Funimation mainly picks the more popular, "in-thing" series in the anime community and then the series that they seem to like a lot and most magical girls, if they are not Pre-cure or Sailor Moon, don't get picked.

Are you serious about Salty Rei and Black Cat being mainstream? Black Cat MAYBE but no one and i mean NO ONE knows about Salty Rei. And what do you mean by "it has a cult following"? And also theres Bamboo Blade, Ah My Goddess, Comic Party Revolution, Blade Of The Phantom Master and I could just go on. Heres all of Funimations anime's and tell me which of these are main stream among anime fans and which arent. http://funimation.com/f_index.cfm?page=props
Also sorry for double posting.

You Multi-quote by pressing the "multi" button in someones post. Now when that lights up or something, that means you selected it. You select more by clicking the same button in other posts. Then you press "quote." There you go, you multi-quoted.
Or you could multi-quote by opening other quotes in different tabs and copying and pasting.

The only ones I see that aren't even main stream are Big Windup, Blade of the Phantom Master, and Nerima Daikon Bros. That's, what? 3? Out of a lot? It's spelled SOLTY REI and it is quite popular. Bamboo Blade is main stream and I can tell you it is quite popular, Ah My Goddess especially, and Comic Party to a point. A lot of people know about Comic party. Most of the anime's they have were popular in their day/year/whatever.
When I say King of Bandit Jing has a cult following, it means it is very good and popular series that only a few know and like. A diamond in the rough. Besides, they only dubbed the Seventh Heaven special which was a pretty popular episode.

I dont really think it matters that I spelled it wrong since i'v hardly EVER see anyone talk about on ANY anime forums not just this one. and iv NEVER heard any negativety towards the show and though that can be a good thing you have to remeber that this is the anime fandom where EVERYTHING has haters so for a anime to not have any even obviously then you can tell no one knows about it. And Bamboo Blade is mainstream and populer? Then how come when i made a thread for it no one posted in it? same goes for solty rei actually. and are you really sure Ah My Goddess and comic party is populer? Cause it really doesnt seem like it to me.

Okay, I'll say this. They are known names in the anime community, but they aren't the main topics of everyone's agenda. But they aren't exactly like KoB Jing which has a cult following, they are like Black Cat, a known name, not talked about much but still Main Stream. These series aren't unheard of really. Bamboo Blade especially and Ah My Goddess I know, but don't you think that because they have ended a while ago, they won't be talked about as much like the more recent ones like?
We should really get back on track of this thread. Not that there is much to talk about Tokyo Mew Mew since it ended quite a while ago.

Yeah your right. Its just iv never seen anyone online ever talk about Bamboo Blade or solty rei outside of the like 3 people who post on also like 3 vids of each of them on youtube. How many people have you seen and know that know about Bamboo Blade and/or Solty Rei?

It was really more when they started than when it ended. Solty Rei really had a lot of fans back when I was perusing other anime forums and khinsider, and Bamboo Blade pretty much had a good handful of people talking about it on mangafox and Myanimelist. I've been hearing these names being tossed around throughout time but there isn't much talk today about them like when they were still running because everyone likes new things. I don't know, I kinda gave up on anime watching two years ago. Used to watch/read a lot of series, but now I don't. I kinda only follow One Piece and few other series now. But yeah, I don't know how anime is now.

http://www.mspaforums.com/images/smilies/confusedjohn.gifWell it makes sense. And im GLAD they were at least semi populer back then. Thank goodness :cwy:! But now its time to make more people on this forum know about them so they have something to read thats good besides one piece.

Mia Ikumi has passed away.
https://comicbook.com/anime/news/tokyo-mew-mew-mia-ikumi-death/I'm not sure what to say. Tokyo Mew Mew was the first manga I ever read. I still remember when I picked up the first two books at a local fair. I fell in love, bought the whole series and from there I found Naruto, Bleach, a whole online world of manga.
That series inspired me to draw. To read manga. I legitimately don't think I'd be where I am without it.
Rest in peace.

Tokyo Mew Mew New is now up to episode 8 and it been licensed by Sentai Flimworks, I'm sure they're working on a dub for it. I'm just gonna post the transformations. Very different to the originals. Mew Mint's is the only one that disappointing
