DMCA Letter by Funimation to Instantz
-
-
just Write them back a letter that says :
"GO F*#K YOURSELFS!!!!!!"
Oh yeah, go tell the people who spend loads of money and time and effort into a property which had more or less died in the US to "go fuck themselves". Maybe you should. FUNi has every right to do what they're doing, and fansubbers do not.
@Luckett_X:I live in the UK so fansubs are the only way for me to watch One Piece. So unless Funimation would like to sort that out, back off!
It's not FUNimation's responsibility your country doesn't have this deal the US has. Go talk to the people who handle this in your own country. You may think it's unfair, but it is fair.

Yeah Funi isn't doing anything wrong, I mean it's not that strict anyways(at least not as much as crunchyroll)
Funimation actually gives the stream for FREE, rather than a paid membership and whatnot. They dont really have a choice to restricting it. Them handing out DMCA letters wont really change anything they never attacked anyone's server. -
Its totally understandable what Funi are doing, they have every right.
…However what about subbers outside of the U.S? this is subbed for a global population not just the States! I'm curious if Funi's rights stretch so far as to stop subbers who opperate in other countries.
And Funi's stream is great but again what about the ppl who can't view their stream due to location?...anyway subbers should still be able to operate so long as they are not making a profit from One Piece. (Thus Free Fansubs)

While I agree FUNi should open the simulcast to all regions, people need to understand that's not FUNi's call. That's entirely Toei and the copyright holders they've handed the series to in other areas of the world.
-
Why aren't there any 427 releases from UTSF?

Yes, they do have that right.

Yes exactly; it's not Funi's call. That's why they also shouldn't have any right to stop people in foreign countries from downloading things that have nothing to do with them. Funi are only linked to One Piece in North America; here they have nothing to do with it but yet their North American legislation will sometimes be used in an attempt to stop is downloading fansubs of a show that they have no rights to here.

Because we're:
- Lazy
- Busy
- Didn't have a timer for a few days
^^Mainly because of number 3, because we're always lazy and busy:happy:

Because once again, it's not FUNi, it's Toei.
Before FUNi actually got Slayers Revolution, they were sending out DMCA letters to fansubbers. Why? Because the Japanese company asked them to help crack down.Toei doesn't like piracy period, including when Japanese people get Raws, so they wana kill fansubs in General.
Does it suck for international fans? Yeah, no question. Is there anything we can do about it? No, FUNi and Toei are perfectly within their rights to issue these letters and/or take any legal action they see fit.
Honestly, I think FUNi and Toei should make some international deals to either get other international sites to play the show (like they do For FMA:B) or get some kind of deal in place where they can remove their own region locking.

Anime is seen as just an advert for the DVD release, or like the rest of TV, to get people watching the adverts in between the show. Thing is, someone in Britain isn't going to buy Japanese DVDs or Japanese products anyway, so whether or not we download the episode doesn't make any difference. Unless, that is, there's a US company that have licensed it because then Toei and, say, Funi have something to lose. In other words, it'd actually be better if anime didn't get licensed outside of Japan.

Better… for you...
Meanwhile, there's an entire country's worth of potential sales Toei COULD be making, that they just, for no reason whatsoever, should just not be going for? You're basically saying it would be better if Toei didn't make money abroad for something they put time and money into producing. And, any fans who want to actually purchase One Piece DVDs translated into English (Either Dub, OR Sub) are shit out of luck too. Only Pirates are allowed to have One Piece?
And before you mention how "Unfair" this is to International One Piece fans, Remember there are websites that ship internationally, and Region-Free Hacks and Region Free DVD players DO exist. Hell, my RCA DVD Recorder breaks region without ANY kind of Hack. All you have to do is put a Region 2 DVD into it, and after the DVD player says "This DVD is the wrong Region", you hit the chapter 1 Button, and it starts playing. You wana get to the menu, you skip to the last chapter and fast forward through the credits, and it brings up the menu. VLC Media player bypasses Region Coding too.But regardless of that, us having a really good dub and accurate Subtitles on DVDs is bad apparently, got it.

It depends. Scroll down to their E-mail from Dreamworks and read their response to it. They flat out say "We can do this because we're in Sweden".
Where is Instanz based? If they're based in Sweden (or somewhere with similar laws) then they're fine, if they're based anywhere else, continuing after getting a DMCA is like saying "Please Sue Me!"Stopping the fansubbing is the only way to keep from getting into major trouble, so it was the right thing to do on Instanz' part.
The more rational of us have been saying this for a while now, but I guess we have to keep saying it. Just because FUNi and/or Toei send out DMCA Letters (which again, they are in every right to do) it doesn't suddenly mean Fansubs are dead, and there is no way for you to watch One Piece anymore ever.
We Americans have the Simulcast, and despite a few hiccups in consistency of translation (no doubt brought on by a combination of Toei sticking their hands in the proverbial cookie jar, and the fact that this is obviously done by several people at once) the simulcast is really good, uncut, and fast (we get it only an hour after air)
And International fans, fdein's group never stopped (though they change their name like… every other week) and Yibis are still going strong, not to mention K-F (even though they're still in Enies Lobby) So you guys still have options. Watch fdein's or Yibis' fansubs for now, and if you MUST have an "Archive" either Get K-F as they release, or get the FUNi DVDs like a lot of us (Me included) have been doing. -
Mmmm…..
I really dont know why Toei has done jack shit to promote One Piece in South America. Granted, starting the dub from scratch would be too messy and cost too much, but nothing prevents them from bringing the simulcast here too.

Finding a company in South America I guess…
Toei aren't exactly known for making the best decisions when it comes to their properties outside of Japan...
They CHOSE to give 4kids One Piece remember... -
I can top that!
They decided to use THAT VERY FOOTAGE TO MAKE OUR DUB!UGHHHHHHHHHHH!
I mean SERIOUSLY!
Also, I know that It would require another company to redub, I already have one in mind.
