Episode 18 (Robin Hood Spoof) and the second half of 21 (fan episode) were hilarious, as well as 20. Sougou's voodoo ritual made me LOL for several minutes.

Thankfully someone's revived this thread, considering that Gintama has probably been my #2 Jump series running as of late. Sorachi just keeps remaining on his game and the latest arc (regarding Tsukuyo's teacher and Hattori finally having a bit more relevance) has just been getting more and more interesting.

I just really really wish someone would work on translating this.
about 90% of the manga and anime are untranslated, which makes it hard to watch.

The manga has been getting better regarding translations. A friend of mine has been doing coverage at least since Yoshiwara, if not sooner (I think he also did the Stand arc) and every chapter since has been on MH somewhere or another. (I actually did one during the Tama Quest arc when he couldn't get to his computer) Other than that I've been just following Viz, which is currently in the midst of Benizakura (epic stuff).

I guess most people only look at onemanga, who only have the manga up to chapter 103 and just assume there isn't more than that yet…
I only got into this series a few weeks ago and I'd say it is my second favorite jump series already. I really like the direction the manga is taking right now.
Too bad it's so damn underrated compared to the more mainstream stuff...:sad: -
The anime is SOOOO much better than the manga, especially when they mention anime situations such as making filler to catch up with the manga.

i know they have past 103, but it's a few chapters here and there.
i want to read it in order.
i know gintama's not plot driven, but wat if the missing chapters/episodes have important character introductions or benizakura epicness?
ps. is viz well translated? I would like to know exactly how they pull off their comedy

I'm more of a manga person, actually, although the anime IS really good…
I just don't have the attention span to watch long anime series without getting bored and skipping parts... I absolutely loved the kanashibari thing, though
edit: I don't know, I'm still waiting for my order to get processed, so I guess I'll second that question about their translations...
I didn't see any actual 'epic' parts in the anime up to episode 152 I haven't read in the manga yet, so I guess the most important parts are already scanlated and stuff... -
Viz is doing well with Gintama, it releases bimonthly, and that's very speedy. It seems pretty accurate as far as translations go, but some jokes are explained and some are changed to something better sounding, or American-like, but not always.

Viz isn't that bad with Gintama and I suggest it if you want to help manga in this country.
As for what's missing linking to Benizakura, all that you really need that hasn't been translated is 77-80, which introduces a crucial character to that arc. (though the story there is hilarious in itself) There is another character that the anime actually introduces slightly before the manga does but he has no bearings on Benizakura whatsoever. (but is much more important when the Kiteihai strikes again with the Itou arc)

i still would rather not do the manga because i suck at japanese and i am poor as hell.
... maybe the benizakura epicness line threw you off.
i meant well made plot arcs which are similar to benizakura...

I think that's chp. 150 from what I've heard…around then. (trust me: I'm sort of a bit off due to following both the American and Japanese releases at the same time so I'm all over the place with this)

Speaking of volumes, the volumes I read is 7, 9 and 11 (I was at a library and they only have those ones, tohugh its not so bad, since I already saw the episodes, al ong time ago, that is covered in 8 and 10, and not to mention 12, which will come out, I heard, in May)
Thiese ch's, unfortunately, I already saw too, but I did it since there were there anyway (and I like to read a questions/answers section)

12 is on sale on Amazon now, but I'm waiting for some other manga I've ordered (the latest ES21 and catch-up on Fairy Tail and Flame of Recca) before I go for that. (and the next RAVE volume) But I can't wait for 12: not just the end of Benizakura but the nabe fight and the "Neo-Armstrong Cannon".

Before i found out about Gintama anime i usually masturbates constantly..after i found about Gintama i stopped and started watching this show instead…i felt like i have to share that with the internet..i think its fine bcuz i doubt any1 is gona end up readin this cuz Gintama is underrated and unpopular..jus gotta love the randomness

I dont think its underrated and unpopular… maybe in America but in Japan they have a solid fan base... and if they are unpopular... we can consider every manga except one piece naruto, bleach unpopular

Roughly, in Japan, Gintama vol's sell averagely over 300K, so it is good.
I might continue with the manga, but I want to know, vol 14, does it cover all of that arc, or is there more to it? What's the thing called, of yeah, the kyubei arc

They go out of order more than any other series I know. You'd probably be asking for a chapter here, five there, another few somewhere else, etc.

the next big arc is is the shinsengumi arc it ends at 105 4 or 5 eps…another epic arc if u r a Hijikata fan ull love this arc...and ull get sum epic fights in this arc as well

The story is about a man aiming to be the samurai king.
And if you don't buy that, it's about odd jobs attempting to decide what the story is about and eventually settling for being the Samurai King.
Actually forget the above, the story is about Elizabeth.

I just begin watching the series yesterday, god I love the Sensugumi just for that entire episode that have them parodying Cops. Just for the scene with Hijikata getting puked on by a crazy drunk. xD

As it has probably been mentioned elsewhere, two things to note. The opening now has the other members charging with Gintoki near the end, and Tama and Sacchan share the same ranking for one scene in the ending – hope that gets fixed!
I was wondering how they'd pull it off since those results WERE announced in the manga, but this is Gintama we're talking about, and nothing's impossible. :P
