Huh, that song's actually better than I remember it. Thanks for that.
Anyway, not that I want to try too hard to make sense of a movie about walking, talking home appliances, but why did they always consider the kid to be the master? I mean, the Radio, Lamp and Blanket I can understand if they were his personal possessions. But the Toaster and Vacuum? You'd think the parents would use those more.
Oh, also that Air Conditioner scene always kinda scared me as a kid. As did the evil clown.
you should watch the movie again, they all have their reasons for calling the kid master (except maybe Kirby and radio…)

When I bought it last year and watched it again for the first time in a long time, I was amazed. On the front, it's a fun kids movie, but it's also alot more than that. I dont know, it's simple but very emotionally effective, and creepily so.
Like for example, the Lamp is obviously the dumbest, but most intellectual (he can read, he's a thinker, etc). If you really think about this movie, there's alot there.

Yeah, I'll admit it's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I do remember that scene with the master changing Lampy's light bulb and with him looking at his reflection in Toaster. Oh, but here's an inconsistancy for you. The master is tall enough to reach the kitchen counter to use the toaster, but then the air conditioner complains that he wasn't tall enough to reach his dials. Hmm.

Oh yeah, there's a lot of dark undertones to this movie. I mean, another scene that really creeped me out was at the end when the master almost gets crushed by the trash compactor. Oh, and speaking of dark undertones here's the song that's tied with "It's a B movie" for my favorite song from the movie.

Damn. Saw that 'worthless' song. Chilling. I wanna see this movie now XD
did you watch the brave little toaster
i have to know
It's not part of the canon, so no, and we aren't.
I watched it late last year though anyway.

Oh, by all means, please do so. It's definitely worth at least one watch.

ah
i sort of want to watch all those disney movies, but i want to do it while watching the sequels after the originals
i also want to watch all the ghibli movies in order

Please tell me you're joking about that, or else I'm not going to be able to take you seriously anymore.

Well, if you at least have enough taste to appreciate those than I guess I can forgive you.
Please tell me you're joking about that, or else I'm not going to be able to take you seriously anymore.

aside from thinking they're hilariously bad, i'm facinated with the thinking that goes into bad cartoons. some one some where had to think it was good, right?
it's like
you can learn from your failures, but it also helps to learn from other people's failures too
from an animator's viewpoint anyway
Yes, all aspiring animators should watch the Disney sequels as a lesson of how not to fail after watching the successful originals.
It's the reason I still read Naruto.

All right, well that makes more sense then. Personally, I like to take my fail juice in small doses. One chapter of Naruto per week does it for me just fine.
yeah
im just afraid of making a 90 minute piece of crap
that's like the amount of time it takes to read 9 naruto chapters in a row
edit:
like if i made this, i would probably kill myself
Bl5it-eT81U
wtf…I never knew there were sequels to that. Ignorance is bliss. Hence I refuse to watch any Land Before Time sequels.
At least there couldn't be anything worse than this
Nothing to do with Disney, just an example of how crappy crap can get XD

I'm afraid you're wrong.

Come on Zep, you know IT'S PARTY TIME!
That should be your theme song, seriously.
While Shan Yu was pretty damn badass and awesome, I thought he wasn't quite as awesome when put up against some of the other classic villains, like Meleficent, Gaston, Jafar, Scar, and so on. I think it's because being badass was pretty much all he was. He didn't really have his own personal quirk, so he kinda fades into the background in the Disney canon.
He was ruthless and seemingly invincible, which differed enough from the other Disney villains. The only other major tank-like enemy in an animated movie I can think of was the T-Red in The Land Before Time.
I'm afraid you're wrong.

…What the fuck is that shit? Blargh it's horrible.
Hahaha That Animated Titanic was SO craptacular. And worst of all it pretty much ends with the words 'And they all lived happily ever after!' (lets note that as far as I'm aware. NOBODY drowns!)
Funny thing is, I remember quite a while back Saturday Night Live's TV Funhouse did an animated Titanic movie bit complete with singing animals, I never thought someone would actually think it was a good idea.
Meh, sorry for thread derailment.
I'm not really
Oh haha…I found the video http://www.livevideo.com/video/3D66CFB32CCD4C7D867DE8752153DDF5/tv-funhouse-walt-disney-s-ti.aspx

All right, we need some more Disney songs to counter all that fail from the last few posts. Thanks Chrissie ;)

Let's not forget old Disney classics:

(I can't seem to find the movie version on Youtube…)
I actually posted the movie version a few pages back.
But yes. The old movies are awesome.

Dang I love this one XD
Oh man, that song was stuck in my head all day yesterday. xD I kept singing random verses.
lol Gotta love it :'D Ah, Scar was an amazing villain :'D Remember when he made Zazu sing? I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts! There they are standing in a row! O:
Edit: Wth happened to my sig? o-o;;
lol Gotta love it :'D Ah, Scar was an amazing villain :'D Remember when he made Zazu sing? I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts! There they are standing in a row! O:
Actually, this line was always my favorite:
Zazu: It's a small world after all…
Scar: NO! No! Anything but that!
Yes! :'D That scene was just gold.
Just saw Hunchback, it was only alright.
It had beautiful animation and the opening sequence was masterful (and the opening song).
But I had some problems.
-Frollo: Because they couldn't really explore his motivations well if at all (lust) his motives in the second half of the series were sort of…unconvincing. It would have worked had he been depicted as this guy terrified of his hypocritical feelings, he needed to be visibilly torn and crazed over the Esmerelda thing, he acted too cooly about purging the city looking for one person, it was by nature irrational but he was acting chill about it. His behavior in Hellfire needed to be all over the second half. But really as what is aimed nominally at kids, they couldn't really do that.
-The Ending: I don't buy Quasimodo being all "yeah! You two just go together! I don't care! I'm happy!" His relationship with Esmerelda was never really dealt with past Heaven's Light.
-The Gargoyles: They didn't really bother me much, but they were just so ...out of place it hurt.
-The Mob: The element of people turning against so and so, and being behind so and so was something that was huge in the movie, but apparently Disney didn't notice? Them turning against Quasimodo was really big and dramatic, but as soon as Esmerelda saved him they turned into this passive mass of people behind all the good guys and even up for a good ol fashion populist uprising. That bothered me most of all.
Also why is Quasimodo white when he was a gypsy baby? That was wierd.
Strangely I kept thinking about the Holy Tower arc from Berserk during the whole thing.
It wasn't bad, but some big flaws were in it.
Tomorrow however....comes HERCULES, woot.
Tomorrow however….comes HERCULES, woot.
What a bad film. The list of flaws is endless, as well as all the annoying things that niggle you about the characters. Even the bad guy (hades) has multiple moments where he just doesn't seem threatening which kind of ruins the drama. The Titans were well drawn though, which adds some kind of climactic feeling when watching them scale their way up mount Olympus. Apart from that the film is pretty meh.

I thought Hercules was great. Very funny too.
Anyone else seen the emperor's new groove? that was pretty damn funny as well
Emperor's new groove is pretty underrated, it's one of the more enjoyable Disney films.
People don't like it because it lacks the scope and the general feel of a Disney film, but I like it that way. It's more comedy oriented and wacky, like something from the Loony Toons.
I agree. Although most of my belly laughs from the movie were caused by Patrick Warburton's character.
But Spade was pretty good and Goodman had his moments
if you dont like it then it has to be good
Would you honestly rate this in the top 10 disney films?
Its OK but falls short of what I'm looking for in a Disney film. Anything in 96 and 97 wasn't that great In my opinion (Disney film timeline), the rest were good though.
Here's a small list of Disney films, I haven't seen 6 of them, and only disliked 2 of them.

Ah, my bad. I was Actually going from another (wrong) time line originally. Not all of them are great but I only ever disliked Hercules and the hunchback of Notre Dame. Even Treasure Planet and Atlantis were bearable.
You found Treasure Planet and Atlantis preferable to Hercules?
Personally, Hercules is one of my all time favourite Disney films, so I can't really see where you're coming from at all.

You know, I might just watch it again, this is spawned from my opinion from watching it as a child. So maybe I might see something else in it?
I still keep my opinion about The Hunchback of Notre Dame though.
As for treasure planet, I have my reasons…:ninja:
.

You fucking suck.
Is Hercules really that much better then I remember it to be?
So WHY is Treasure Planet so bad? XD I've watched it twice and while nothing particularly great I just couldn't identify why I didn't like it. (except maybe the almost forced pairing of the captain with that other guy.) I certainly enjoyed it more than The Wild, Lilo and Stitch and Brother Bear (have yet to see Atlantis. Dun really wanna.)
While I like Hercules (and I LOVE the music), I have to admit I was a little put off at the pure raping of the original myth. I don't mind Disney tweaking things to make movies better or less traumatizing for kids (I actually prefer the movie ending to HoND, the book ending is too sad), but Hercules only had a passing resemblance to the myth. The sheer number of things changed/omitted was astounding.
But, what ultimately made the movie enjoyable for me was the music, and Hades. For all he was never really a villain in the myth (that went to Hera, Hercule's STEP-mother), James Wood made him awesome and unconventional. Fantastic casting choice.

It was completely souless. It goes through the motions mechanically.
It had some scenes that had a bit of soul to them. For example the parts about Jims father and the relationship between him and John Silver.
