I noticed the similarities too, but I'm thinking it's coincidence at the moment, simply the author's style. I always thought Shunsui looked like a fusion of Isshin and Ichigo's designs, but I think we can safely assume that's coincidental, too (unless…. gay, incestuous love child?)

Or the more likely possibility that Isshin and Shunsui are related by blood somehow. Brothers or cousins, probably.

It seems like some people don't like the new development (mainly in 2ch) but I'm liking it. Fresh new air~.

If Isshin is a captain-level shinigami, Kubo needs to explain why he got knocked out in the first chapter, leaving his daughters in danger against a low-level hollow.

I've always found Isshin to be endlessly entertaining, and his role in the chapter at the end of the Grand Fisher arc (err, the first GF arc, obviously) was always damn cool.. but like I said earlier, there's gonna have to be some good explaining. Assuming he's in cahoots with Urahara (as I've seen others suggest, it just seems like they would be buddies), the whole thing might have been to get a random shinigami that was in the area to need a gigai… plus, Ichigo would be shinigamified. Two birds with one stone, and there would be no screw ups if the hollow was under Isshin's control. But even that leaves quite a bit of gaps in the story, so it seems a little farfetched... I dunno, is there anybody that visits some Bleach community and has heard some good theories on the whole Isshin bit?
As for the rest of this arc's happenings... I guess I like the fact that Uryuu has his dad to help him get his powers back (inevitable), and that Grand Fisher has returned right after soul society, as I thought. As for the hollow-shinigami thing... meh. Kinda sucks that Ichigo is less special now, I think.

Oh, I don't think he's any less special just because there's another guy like him out there. He's still special because he's the only guy like that who (apparently) is not on the same side.
And I'm sure there are plenty of good explanations for Isshin's actions. He probably did want his son to tap into his hidden powers, or else they'd go to waste.

Anyway, I haven't watched 40 yet, but was anybody else kind of upset that episode 39 didn't save the ten seconds needed in the end to show you-know-who say "Idiot. You won" and then fall? Seemed like it would be a cooler ending to me. Less of cliffhanger, I'll admit, but still much cooler.

I think that cliffhanger was pretty good. It would have made me come back for me if I have not read the manga.
Well actually, I can also see that they are trying to extend the anime longer so as not to clash with the manga.. The anime seems to be going along relatively fast compared to the speed at which the manga chapters are released.

well i decided to read the manga after watchign episode 40 and DAM is this show good!!! im kinda all depressed and stuff now that i've got no more to read… gotta wait weekly now... sigh :(

Oh man, I just started reading Bleach 2 days ago, and I'm already on Chapter 86. I must say, It's pretty good for my picky standards. The whole shinigami/Hollow thing really got me excited and I wanted to read more. Chad is probably my favorite character so far, Considering the fact that he reminds me a whole lot of me, Quiet but defensive. I love his Armor/Right arm thing, That's pretty awesome. Other than that, I can't wait to start watching the Anime and reading more manga chapters, I'm currently at the part when Chad, Orihime, Ichigo, Yoruichi, The firework girl's brother (Drawing a blank on the name) and Ishida all crashed into the Soul Society town, and The fireworks guy used a sand spell for him and Ichigo to crash into.

I got into the manga a while ago. I got to the point where Ichigo was training to unlock his sword's OTHER other form… It kind of pissed me off and I was like, "Oh hell no, this is turning into DBZ!" and stopped reading.
But my friend wanted to watch the anime (which I never got into at all) and after marathoning 41 episodes, I can say it's decent, even if not up to par with One Piece.
And Tatsuki is hawt...

i checked my bleach manga and your about chapter 120 where Yaruchi juz stops ichigo from fighting byakuuya and is just starting their training…. if its 140 then u'll miss alot of story

OK, just now I got caught up on my Bleach manga (I left off at Ichigo and co. leaving Soul Society), and HOLY CRAP I AM SO HAPPY THAT ISSHIN IS AN ASSKICKER. He was one of me favorite characters from the start, and I was so disappointed that he was primarily a sidecharacter. I really have to wonder that his ghost cutter's form is..
And boy am I happy that the loose end with Grand Fisher was finally tied up. Good riddance.

I believe Rukia's brother once mentioned his "predecessor" and somebody else (the long white-haired captain, I think) mentioned how Ichigo reminded him of that person…

Chapter 188… I was wrong, the series can still go a lot of places. Pretty sweet chapter, one of those things that explains a lot but you feel like you still don't know anything.
I hope Yamamoto's Vice Captain gets some action sooner or later.

Yes, his name was Kaien, and he was the older brother of the Shiba siblings Kuukaku and Ganju. He clashed with Byakuya because he didn't like how cold and fixated on law and order he was. He was the vice-captain of the 13th division, and the captain's name is Ukitake.
SS reappeared in this week's chapter! giddiness It just doesn't feel like Bleach anymore without those zany Soul Society characters.

read chapter 188, hmmm they showed Aizen with the slicked back hair and no glasses, and Isshin looked kinda sad… maybe he knew him? and I wanna know what was happening in Soul Society at the end there, and I wanna know the connection between Urahara, and Isshin, damn! the farther Kubo-sensei gets into Bleach, the more I love it!

i think the story is leading towards a war between the Shigamis from Soul Society + Ichigo's group, against Aizen +Hollows and super hollows, i also have a feeling that either Gin or the blind captain guy will defect Aizen
Also they will probally go into detail about Ighigo and that Hollow mask taht keeps coming up, i think he's like a natural Shigami Hollow, since he was semi hollow when he was stuck in that hole

Ooh, I love the new development! I thought I had most of it figured out, and now I'm completely lost.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Ichi's reaction to badass-Isshin.Besides, I'm really curious about these new forms of shinigamis and hollows. If the combination Shinigami/Hollow makes you stronger, Ichi still has an advantage, right? Aizen may become a "double", but Ichi's the only "triple" = Shinigami/Hollow/Human!
(If his mother remains a normal human, that is. I'm not sure of anything anymore. 
)Just speculations, of course, but it's so much fun!
